If you want to see what ACTUALLY happened that day...
16 July 2023
You can go to the CNN Archives. Search "Sadr City 1st Cav 2004"

Watch the video. I and my FRG watched this happen in real time. The best part? We actually got to see our Soldiers/Spouses. And our Colonel. He almost got dinged in the head by a kid with a rock. Luckily the kid had crappy aim and Miyamasu was ok.

For all of you complaining: it's a mini-series. What did you expect? And it was based off of a book written by a news anchor who probably sat on the FOB in the Green Zone the whole time. I can almost guarantee she wasn't imbedded with2/5, 2/12 or 1/5 Cav when they went into Sadr City...

Outsiders (I) (2016–2017)

Just to clarify things for a few past reviewers...

Welsh, people. Not Irish, not Celtic, not Scots. They are descended from the Welsh. How do I know this? The "strange" language/words they are speaking are WELSH. The old customs are WELSH. The laws are derived from OLD WELSH LAWS. Their society is set up as ancient Wales was, not with "Clans", but with individual "Kingdoms" (at one point, in post-Roman era Wales, there were 9 individual kingdoms: 3 major kingdoms, Gwynedd, Powys and Deheubarth, and 6 minor kingdoms.)

The show really isn't that unbelievable, IF you understand the history behind the Farrell "Kingdom/Queendom". So, instead of slamming that switch you do not understand, educate yourself.

Points for effort

As far as modern attempts at storytelling for WWII go it's not the greatest. The cinematography was good, acting ok, storyline, meh.

I really wish they hadn't nicknamed Pitt's character Wardaddy as, the REAL War Daddy, the Ace of Aces, as he is known, CW2 Lafayette Pool was much more accomplished and one hell of a Tanker.

I absolutely loved Brad Pitt in Inglorious Basterds, but Pitt just wasn't able to bring that energy and attitude in this movie. Too much brooding. Pitt needs to stick to what he knows and not muck up Armor movies.

Midsomer Murders: The Point of Balance (2019)

I am an American but, I am so grateful that...
15 December 2019
Midsomer has finally added an Injured War Veteran from OEF+OIF. It's been a long time coming and it makes me very happy that the writers have finally brought the show up to speed with current world affairs since Midsomer is so insulated from the outside world. And, just to make sure I am understood: I personally would like to say "Thank You and God Bless You" for each and every British, Scot, Irish, Jersey, Isle of Mann, and all of the other men and women Soldiers, Sailors, Air Personnel and ALL military and the civilians and families that support them from that part of the world who have come to assist and aid the United States Military personnel (such as my husband) in Iraq and Afghanistan. You have fought BESIDE us in (almost) every war since the American Revolution and we appreciate it AND YOU!!! Well done and many blessings.

Great show too! I love British TV and movies. So sick of the invasive politics in American "entertainment"...

A repeat..
26 October 2019
This seems to be an American version of the incident at Smalls Island in 1801, of which there hve been several movies made (most recently, The Lighthouse, 2016).

Extremely disappointed overall, but I was much impressed by Willem Dafoe's embrace of the role.

The Meg wasn't the only one butchering things...

Unbelievable that the author of "The Meg" series allowed great book to be hacked to death. About the only things that are consistent is Jonas Taylor's and Mac's names. Why would they hire a screen writer who couldn't even stick within 100 nautical miles of the original story line?
