Working: What We Do All Day (2023)
Overall a good documentary
I found this mini-series interesting and informative. I'm always impressed with Pres. Obama's ability to relate to anyone with whom he speaks and I really enjoyed watching him interact with the different workers. My only negative is the repetitive display of management leading staff meetings with a Christian prayer. This practice should be discouraged, not encouraged or highlighted. It is completely inappropriate and unacceptable for a leader in the workplace to subject their subordinates to their own religion. It goes against the principles of our country and the intention of the United States' Constitution. I'm grateful to have never experienced similar circumstances in my career.
Billy the Kid (2022)
Romanticized and Overacted
We tried! We watched the first two episodes without saying anything to each other about our thoughts. But, at the conclusion of episode two when we looked at each other, we couldn't help but laugh. That's when we knew we were both done.
The acting is overdramatic and the cinematography is too...epic for the subject. Not sure how else to put it. Not to mention the romanticism of Billy himself which attempts to gain viewer sympathy for this outlaw. It didn't work for us.
I was expecting more accuracy as well. Billy didn't even become "Billy" until he was orphaned at about 15, so almost immediately I realized that they would be taking liberties. I was hoping for more facts, although I realize there are not a lot that are known.
I wanted to like this so much! My BF loves westerns and it looked in the ads like one I could really get into, which is why I am the one that suggested we watch. We were both disappointed.
Lucky Dog (2013)
Gone Downhill
I have been watching this show off and on since the beginning. Pretty much whenever I was up early on a Saturday morning. I enjoyed Brandon as the host. He was so natural and genuine. Since Eric and Rashi have been hosting it has gone way downhill! I had to change my original rating from 8 to 4. It is so staged and fake that it is painful to watch. I no longer believe any of it is real. Even the new "graduation medal" is cheesy. I have nothing against Eric and Rashi, they are simply unable to act which is required when trying to come off as if it is happening in real time. On top of that, the Blue Buffalo product placement is far too obvious. I'm done.
