Sad....
17 December 2021
It's genuinely sad to see an Actor who once helmed some of the best films in the 80's and 90's, become such pathetic mess. He clearly has no care for his own reputation anymore.

I feel bad for the other actor's and crew, who try to put in their best effort and still believe they will get further in the industry by including such a lazy, money grabbing and egotistical 'famous' face on the cover of the film they are in.

It is no secret Willis has entered into the phase of his career doing 1 day's work with most minimum amount of screentime and actual work for directors that only get him into the film just so it marginally stands out by making seem like the film's true lead, to recieve slight profit and break even and he get's his 1 million, and the director can churn out the next one. A win-win for them both, however staining every single other crew member in the process, forcing them to be in the same cycle he is.

He has lost faith with nearly every friend he had in the industry, delivers lines like he is a wooden board and hasn't got even ounce of pride in his work whatsoever. He truly is the worst of them and needs to find another career path.

Problem is, every Director he has ever worked with (bar M. Night Shyamalan who gave him another shot in 'Glass') due to his conduct and ego making him be difficult to work with, made them enemies and apart from his current low budget buddies that are in it to milk his name for all it's worth until he becomes one of the world's worst fall from grace stories in hollywood, there is nothing to redeem him now in the eye's of anyone who can have faith in him to lead a blockbuster ever again. It's obvious he can't be bothered anymore to truly put anything into his work except the bare minimum and just want's his cool million to continue his cushy lifestyle with 0% effort, until the next day of 'work', repeating the cycle over and over. 7 Films in 2021 is all you need to know...

This isn't Cinema.

This is a sad, pathetic and tired old hustle.

0/10.

'Cringe' Ummm Yeah Right... Why can't you people just enjoy positive vibes?
1 June 2021
Ok it absolutely annoys the hell out of me when people use this word to describe something that clearly has had a massive amount of effort into it. No. I do not believe there was even a moment when you can say any of it was 'cringe'...

You obviously can't just watch something and feel positive regardless of the level of quality behind the performances, which let's be honest was incredible and one of the best TV episodes incorporating music. The idea here is that it is meant to parallel what is going in the plot and to enhance it. The music truly worked in my opinion and should be commended for the way it was all presented, with great showcasing of the talent these individuals possess.

As with many other reviewer's, I am not really into Musical shows (be it films or TV) however on this occasion, I can totally say without a doubt one of the most enjoyable shows I have seen in a long time for the sheer positivity and brilliant comedy that it has executed. Jerry Bruckheimer has gained so much more newfound respect and admiration from me purely on this episode alone. Truely a great experience and something I never expected or will forget.

Dennis Haybert also deserves major acclaim for his portrayal of the big man up in the sky, he completely nailed this part for sure. And once again Tom Ellis really shines effortlessly with his vocal/pianist skills, you can tell he really wanted to do this and let it all out.

Big love to all involved in producing this, this episode should be a 9-10 rating here and in my mind just is....

I don't care what anyone says, this is one of the best films of all time...
19 May 2021
This is one that just hits your right in the feels. It has such a heartwarming story with really impressive CGI for a 1998 venture, and has always been a film I remember fondly. The last section of the film just brings me to tears everytime and is such a timeless movie for all ages to enjoy. Definitely one of Disney's best live-action films, I wish they did more original stories like this rather than rehashing all of their popular properties in live-action form as they will never be as good as the animated originals. Bill Paxton & Charlize Theron did an amazing job here backed up by a stellar cast along with the CGI foreboding and gentle giant Mighty Joe Young. The messages in the film are also superb, reminiscent of a time when the world wasn't so complex and a good story was just that, a good story filled with heart and a genuinely positive outlook...

Tom and Jerry (II) (2021)

Lacks the boldness & beautiful animation of the original 1940's Classic Shorts...
27 February 2021
I really tried to like this movie as I'm a lifelong fan of Tom & Jerry, and recently managed to find the new remasters of the first 40 shorts in 1080p and watched them all, only to become absolutely addicted to it and ended up trying to find the rest.

So, with this all really fresh in my mind and remembering many of the gags I used to love, it is a huge shame how you can truly see the amount of things Tim Story has lazily copied directly from the shorts. Now, if they were expanded on and were executed with even more comic polish then I would applaud him for raising the bar on a classic gag, but instead what we do get is a sub par version of them that actually feels like a disservice to the original storyboard writers who came up with them that absolutely left me in stitches every time no matter how many times you watched it.

That is the true magic of Tom & Jerry, they are timeless icons who have established traits & qualities not only within themselves, but the entire world they live in. This film on the other hand, clearly does not understand the source material or does, but refuses to acknowledge it here with what I can only call 'personal preference soundtracking' rather than possibly combining the old orchestral score with your genre choices or even sticking to the classic fully and elevating it even more.

The plot also all just feels way to safe, almost as if the original concept designs for this film were produced solely from intense meetings with WB execs trying to navigate how to make this story through pure bulletpoints and politically correct motivated plot devices, that it all just turns into this highly formulaic unoriginal story with no real weight, other than to show the brief moments sprinkled through of true comic slapstick T&J (which is where 2 stars come from) and the other 2 are for certain scenes where they managed to create some brilliant animated atmosphere where the 3D models look really great (e.g Dog Pound scene) and of course the legend that is Micheal Peña who definitely stole the show whenever he was on screen.

I think the main thing I struggle with in this film, is the jarring mesh between live-action & what is almost nearly 2D animation that adds the main problem here: Why in 2021 do we have a film starring one of the most famous Duo's of all time, backed by a powerhouse studio WB, be actually worse production than a 1988 Film (Who Framed Roger Rabbit?) that literally did exactly the same thing but achieved it with flying colours? Does not make sense.

Then again I think the last real problem here is not utilizing the great animation model's of all the classic characters of the 1940 - 1958 Shorts that for me will always be the true character designs of these lovable guys. They just hit the mark and also evolved through time, but by and large they had a very distinct look that WB tried their best to copy in their recent reboot of the Tom & Jerry show, but they literally just look 'flat' with no dynamic as well as over saturated colour that is just too 'Flash' Animation style for me...

Unfortunately, they probably decided to stick with the recent reboot animation style to be unified with that series, which I do understand but after trying an episode of it, I just felt irritation for the animation style (which is so overwhelmingly modernised & digital that it probably takes a 1/3 of the time to produce a 24min episode compared to the hand drawn original 7min shorts!) and the lack of compelling storyboards with bold & original risqué gags was the reason I ultimately turned it off.

This very much feels the same, however I did make it all the way to the end and even the bonus scene, so I would say it is worth a watch for the target demographic, but also for anyone into the recent reboot or completest fans of Tom & Jerry.

PS - I wish Droopy had more screen time! Haha

Final Space (2018–2021)

This shows is absolutely insane, in a good way!
20 June 2020
Ok. Coming from Paradise PD and Rick & Morty, this show just expands on that over the top raunch-com level of comedy but does so much more inside it's 23min episode length. Those two are hard to beat, but I got to say that this one really dials it up a notch and has some extremely beautiful scenes of space and intergalactic space travel. It really is a unique show where all the old tropes of space movies have been satired to the fullest, and every voice actor is totally on point with their delivery and tone, especially Gary, KVN and the Lord Commander. To everyone involved with producing this incredible show, THANK YOU!

The Mandalorian (2019– )

Finally a series that gives you the same nostalgia as the original trilogy...
23 November 2019
The creative team behind Star Wars has definitely worked exceptionally hard on this addition to the franchise.

It feels so fresh, but taps into many of the old features and ideas of the first trilogy to deliver something compelling and unique. I love the use of the live creature puppets, when done right it makes such a difference to the overall aesthetic and makes the environment CGI look even better.

Storywise, this is one of the best written plotlines in the Star Wars history for me. I won't give anything away as the reveal is one of the best parts of this show. The power is in the twist at the end of the first episode, giving you so much incentive and desire to watch the next. Rarely do I ever find a Pilot of a new series that gives me this kind of appeal!

Everything is also totally on form here too:
  • Movie Budget CGI & Costumes
  • Great Actors & Dialogue
  • Beautiful Locations
  • No Cringeworthy Humour
  • Edgy & Cool Ideas

And Most Importantly it has HEART.

Hands down the best new show of 2019...

Good Series but unbelievably annoying format, Why Bryan Singer?!!!
24 January 2016
First of all this series REALLY needs a new format, full episodes of 20mins would be a amazing to see for the next season if there is one.

The main actors portray an incredibly deep seated background when conversing with supporting cast members and makes you feel that they have so much going on in their lives, making this 2-5min episode series rich with 3 Dimensional characters it's hard to see any flaws, as the cast, writers and directing make this world feel believable and real.

However, after binge watching the series it does become apparent that there is a lot of time shifting going on and you begin to get pretty overwhelmed with trying to track all the different sub plots within the characters lives, ranging from as far as 8 years before and then a few years after.

When this happens, you become a little irritated, I have to admit! That's why I really believe this series would ultimately benefit from longer episodes. Possibly where each one concentrates on one time period at a time so that you can watch it without having to put so much effort into trying to understand the whole story through so many time shifts in such a short period, as well as getting the bigger picture in a more coherent manner.

For me it just comes back to good story telling and I'm afraid this series is majorly let down solely by the format of the way it has been presented, not to mention that the credits themselves take up around 15 secs intro and then 35 secs for the ending credits. This usually leaves the episode with about 2 Min's to tell one or two little scene that to be honest feels quite pointless really. Which is such a shame as I for one was intrigued by all the characters and feel they should have more time to shine properly.

I understand that this is a 'mini-series' but even grouping say 5 Ep's together would have made for a better 'episode' or chapter, and would most likely produce better cliffhanger potential. As well as earning it's place on a network to gross an actual profit!

I hope this gets a bigger budget for the second season, the SFX is pretty amazing and the concept, while not entirely new, feels incredibly rich with so much potential for expansion and has such a well thought out back story, it deserves better....

Hannibal (2013–2015)

This Is My Design....
9 September 2015
I can't believe how much this series has changed my perspective of visual art form within the television sector, as it just captivates me within literally every minute of watching it!

The suspense you feel inside the ensemble of highly creative musical scores, guided by the almost crazy images on screen, completely immerses you as the viewer to a point where you feel so involved in what's going on, you start to vividly question nearly everything as if you were an actual character in the show, but with enormous connection and clarity. This is possibly the one thing I believe I crave within all cinema and TV.

The relationships between the central characters (alas not all of them) become sublimely developed, providing you a very intimate journey with these characters in the storyline. With these chances to discover them, their psychopathic personalities and life threatening shift's in trust between them make such an impression on the viewer, you truly are left in awe of its near perfect drama and well executed tension.

As well as this, you have so many scenes of clever and intricate pure savagery, it does become significant when compared to some of the conventions you see in other horror adaptations (hannibal based or otherwise). Although I understand most people would find this part too much.

For me, I've always been 50/50 when it comes to watching and enjoying horror based productions, as it can be quite disturbing at times in your life. However, in a series filled to the brim with so much of this theme, Hannibal just sets itself apart with it's high thrill factor within the psychological aspect of the show and impacts you so much with it's great cinematography, musical score and insanely good acting, it's a hard to not absolutely love it...

Mads Mikkelson, Hugh Dancy and Lawrence Fishurne you have my respect entirely! 10/10 (My first review here :D)
