Two Witches (2021)
Two for Two Witches
I have seen many B rated horror movies in my time. Most of my teen years were spent in my best friend's room watching the B rated horror movies we had rented from Blockbuster and chowing down on junk food.
So to say I know a thing, yeah. Either way this had potential to be a class A, B- rated, movie. I think it was just done so poorly, even for a B. I was bored most of the time, if not eye rolling. By the time we got to act two I was just really over the whole thing.
Simon was overbearing with his personality, like TOO much. If the writing of him had reeled it back a bit we would have been good.
In the end I just couldn't bring myself to enjoy it. Maybe, in the future, we can have the person who wrote it go back, revise it, and shoot it back into the filming world because I really think this story could be a PRIME good horror movie, up there with Last Shift!
Deadstream (2022)
I hesitated at first...
I hesitated at first to pick it up. When I first saw the rating it was low (close to when it came out) and then today I was in need of another movie so I picked this one up.
Boy was I not disappointed. I honestly forgot how good, usually, comedic horror was. This did not let me down. All throughout the movie I was loving it. Shawn did amazing at being that kind of dumb scared funny streamer. I loved how well done the streaming stance was. I honestly felt like I was watching a stream. This has got to be my favorite horror movie so far this year. Nothing has made me happier than this movie.
If you are in the mood for some laughs and a bit of spooks I 1000% recommend you give this a watch. A must!
Spirit Halloween (2022)
It was a good background movie
I think grown adults forget it is a show for KIDS, probably around 9 and up. That being said it was a good background movie. I had it playing while I was getting some things done. It wasn't something to write home about but good nonetheless. I even paid full attention a few times and liked making connections. Though I wished we saw more of what was being connected. I wouldn't mind seeing the history of that. The acting was so/so but I expect nothing less from a movie like this. This isn't the 90s and early 2000s anymore. Haha.
In the end I am glad I watched it at least once. I love the store and I love the fact that it pops up from no where and then pops up from no where and gets a movie!
The Midnight Club (2022)
A show that didn't know what it wanted to be
A show that didn't know what it wanted to be. That is the perfect sum of what could describe this. They started off with a galore of jump scares, be it kind of scary, after the 3rd it got SUPER old. The storyline went ALL over the place. I get the stories, somewhat. They had pieces of themselves in it but why? What was the point of it.
Anya was ANNOYING as all hell for most of the show. I had little sympathy for her. Ilonka was just pretty much ruined for me.
A cancer story and kids who are desperate to live. I get it. It is scary. But that mixed in with senseless ghost and a craze witch cult? What?
The series from The Haunting of Hill House to this show it has been a steady downhill.
The Haunting of Hill House was thee best. Bly was just under it. Midnight Mass was... like unseasoned chicken. And this? Maybe on the same level.
My Best Friend's Exorcism (2022)
Don't even waste your time
If you are going to do it as close to the book it is based on then just don't freaking do it or give it another title. This was a pile of crap. The things that were great about the book they took out. Not worth your time!
From the beginning you can just tell it wasn't going to be great. Then they just threw the whole thing about the book, their friendship, out of the dang window. It was cringe for all of the movie. How sad to be Grady and know that your work was sullied in something as atrocious as this? If I was him I would have disowned it.
Holy crap this poor man. Just don't watch this movie. Save yourself.
Eternals (2021)
GOD AWEFUL
Talk about the weakest link in the line of MCU movies. So much was wrong with this movie. From Boss to the damn plot line. Giant robot rocks making the universe. Eye. Freaking. Roll.
Doctor Sleep (2019)
A Son Walking In His Father's Footsteps
I honestly believe this movie was a great continuation of the original movie. Was it as scary as The Shinning? No, sadly, but it did have its moments to make up for it. The way Danny transition was great, but like Stephan King's books the went into details on things that needn't be. That is why I didn't give it a 10.
For a 2 1/2 hour movie, where it got the job done in telling a great tale... it left me kind of empty, but that could also mean a future movie or TV series so I am not complaining.
I do love the fact that they brought in old elements from The Shinning and wished that they would have done it a bit more. I can't go into detail without spoiling anything but, I think it might have to do with the budget of the film. All in all I wasn't truly disappointed. It have me a full plate of what I wanted and had me wanting more.
It is a great close to The Shinning and a great opening to something new!
