War Z Day One (2013)
Simply Interesting!
I am not a huge fan of Zombies, but this production was interesting to watch. There were some parts that were a bit on the humorous side, and that was something that had my attention. Even though this was low budget, it's well written, and directed.
The writing, directing, skills from the production team was amazing. I see much potential in this project. Overall its more drama than action, and I can't wait to see what happens.
Honestly, usually when you see low budget productions, you would assume the quality of the acting, effects, etc to not be all that great. Shockingly, this project wasn't really bad. I gave this project a chance, and I'm glad I did, as I see this can turn into something bigger. It's best not to underestimate based on the quality, but I've had a few small laughs.
To the production team and the actors, keep up the good work! Looking forward to see what they have planned.
Scamelot (2011)
Quite The Entertainment
If you're a looking for a mindless fun-hearted movie, this is the film for you.
What makes this charming little indie film work is that it never tries to be more than it is. It completely avoids the cliché of boy finds girl, boy loses girl, boy finds girl again.
I thought the music was great. There were some characters that were so despicable that they'll make you laugh and cringe at the same time.
I must say the different elements to this film made it worth the watch. Watching both Miles Loghan and Todd Slunk, carrying out their criminal acts, fooling everyone in the process, was unbelievable. They truly assumed that they can get away with being the most popular manipulative scam artists of Camelot, Oregon.
Unfortunately, bad deeds come with prices and the consequences they face are quite deserving. Overall, I enjoyed watching this indie film, it was quite entertaining.
Undaunted: The Forgotten Giants of the Allegheny Observatory (2012)
Simply Informative
I had the interest of astrophysics for many years. I'm glad that they developed a documentary giving us a complete background on Samuel Pierpont Langley and John Alfred Brashear. These two men are very exceptional, their works brought together the greater understanding of science.
This was a good documentary, very informative and granted me more knowledge on the achievements of these men. They should be recognized for their works and abilities.
Can't wonder what it might have been without having the greats actually following their theories and exploring the possibilities of science to share with all.
Quarantine L.A. (2013)
Interesting Movie
This film is interesting to me, as I wouldn't expect LA to finally have their take on Zombie like isolation. These strangers do their absolute best at surviving and getting themselves out of this sticky situation.
Being with a bunch of strangers, working together to help each other is truly something amazing. Unfortunately, in a case like this, you would hope all of them would live to tell the tale.
The leading actor Bo Linton, playing the lead role of Jake Miller, had a rock solid performance and he is a very believable military action hero.
Overall, this movie was great, I enjoyed watching it. I see such talent in the cast and production team and look forward to seeing more of them.
Firefly and the Coffee Machine (2012)
Wonderful Story!
This has to be one of the most talented young girl, ever imaginable. Her thoughts and creativity, led to an exceptional animated short film. Yes, there are no words, but the music and sounds added to all the visual, creates a story. You must pay attention to the screen, or you'll miss out on what's going on.
This short animated film was one of the best animated films at the Nashville Film Festival 2013. I truly enjoyed it. I hope Valentina Cevallos, creates more work to share with the world. Who would've known an eight year old girl can tell a tale, with such vivid imagination. It's wonderful that her uncle assisted her with this project. They deserve for their success.
Halimin put (2012)
Simply a Good Film
I truly enjoy watching cultured films, it gives me an insight of someone's life and what they go through. It's heartbreaking for a woman to know they cannot bear children, and then taking on the option of adopting, is a new found challenge. Difficulties arise after husband and son taken were executed by the Serbian military forces.
The executed weren't able to be discovered or recognized without DNA analytics, and unfortunately Halima had more issues to deal with. One thing, was her husband was discovered via DNA analysis, but her son, she was on a search to find his biological mother. That journey wasn't easy.
Overall, this was a good film, with brilliant director and producer. The actors were on point with their skills. I felt like I was apart of the film.
Ecstasy (2011)
Very Sad...
Drugs seems to be that craze many think is cool to use. In this film, even though the drug wasn't ecstasy, it still had the after effects and consequences. The characters in the film were also tested on their beliefs and faith.
Young and naive Dianna, was succumbed to peer pressure, and was a bad role model for her younger sister, Chantel. That mysterious red pill is still in question. What was upsetting is when David found out what the minister was doing. He thought the right thing to do his own little research and involve the police. But, the police took him as a joke. Very sad.
Moral of the story, drugs and alcohol takes a drastic turn for the worse in not only the user's life, but also everyone else around them.
Dirty Money (2013)
Overall Great Film...Any room for a Feature?...
I enjoy all genres and lengths of films, I'm glad I was able to watch something from an upcoming director. Look forward to seeing some more of his works in the future. To the director, you're very talented, keep it up!
The suspense this film has is really exciting. The storyline was pulled off gracefully, and similarities on what things can be like in someone's life, for real.
The up & coming actors' overall performance was amazing, they did a wonderful job. There is a lot of underground or under rated talents, and the director was certain the lead roles were filled with two very alike artists of the craft.
This short film is sort of a tease. I would like this to develop into a feature film. Its has potential to reach over and beyond.
Hollow (2011)
Horrorfiying Tree!
This movie started out along the similar tone of movies within its genre, Documentary/Perspective Films. I can imagine how skeptical some people would be if there are actual trees that looked as scary as in this film.
The suspense of watching this from beginning to end, was on high for me. Each time the travelers were near that tree, I thought something was going to happen. Just the same feeling I had when they kept showing information in Emma's grandfather's book.
The last scene of them counting down to just Emma in the car, when she got the engine to start, I was so excited for her. I felt that she would've been the only one to survive. But when she turned around and saw a hooded figure in the back seat, I jumped of terror.
Overall, I enjoyed the movie. Unfortunately, I had to provide a spoiler. That was something I had to share. Definitely take time to watch this.
