insight into personal obsessions
4 January 2004
This film was rejected by some people on account of the violence and the rape. It was released in 1971. I believe that the violence was needed. It's a test for the viewer as to whether or not you can watch the film and still sympathize with the character after seeing their bad side graphically displayed. I love this character. Not because I agree with his violent life style, but because he was human. It proves that everyone human has at least one thing in common, and that's the ability to feel emotion. At the end of the film Alex has a chance to get `cured' of his violent phantasy's and life style. Of course you can't cure a lifestyle if the character doesn't believe it was wrong. Science can make things appear as if they were normal, but science can't cure what's on the inside. The message that I got out of the film was that each person is truly an individual based on the thoughts they think, that no one else can hear. As a result, individuality can never fully be taken away. It's a triumph of our own private thoughts and internal emotions over science.

Trainspotting (1996)
Enjoy life
23 November 2003
From the beginning to the end, this movie is nothing but entertainment. The cinematography is amazing, and it helps you escape from this world and understand seeing things through a heroine addicts eyes. Ewan Mcgregor is the main character in this film, and he did a great job. He's funny, vulgar, and yet you sympathize with him. His character, Mark Renton, knows who he is, he even admits at the end of the film that he's just a bad person.

I enjoyed the message that this movie was trying to get out there. The message that there are good and bad sides to living a normal "good life," and that there are good and bad sides to a heroine addicts life. The point is, it's life and no matter which path you choose to take, you will eventually encounter heart ache and happiness. This is a story from a heroine addicts point of view, and he's good humored about his life. It just goes to show that you have to have fun, and do what you want to do. But try to stay away from heroine.

Hair (1979)
Warning: Highly Addictive, You May even find yourself singing along!
20 November 2003
One night at home I had nothing to do, and I saw that Hair was on t.v. later. I was curious about it, I mean I had no idea what to expect. I had heard people make fun of it, and I had heard people praise it. So I had to watch, I had to have an opinion.

At the beginning of the film, I enjoyed The Age of Aquarius number, and was intrigued. However, when the number Hair came on, I didn't know how to react. I wanted to laugh at it and change the channel, I didn't want my siblings to make fun of me. Yet the song, though a little stupid, was also catchy. I kept watching. After I was finished watching the entire film, I had no idea what had just happened. I didn't know if I liked it or not, I did know that I wanted to see it again.

This is a strangely addicting film. I watched it three more times in the days following, and my final verdict is, I love it! I can't help it. It's just so fun! The fist time I watched it I was mocking it, but by the third time viewing it I was in anticipation over when the number Hair would come on so I could sing along. I especially loved the song, How Can People Be So Hard, it's a different pace from the majority of the film. What can I say, when it was over I was singing the songs in my head for weeks. I just have to buy it. I highly recommend this film to musical lovers (especially if you love musicals like The Who's Tommy). And although I know I would never be a hippie, this film makes me want to say "Heck with work, I'm going to grow out my hair so fleas can live in it!" Watch it, but beware, I think it just might do the same for you!!!

A dissapointing film
16 November 2003
This movie has potential to be something. Not something amazing, but it does have potential for humorous moments. However, none of the lines seemed to be expressed in a humorous way. If you are looking for a brainless film, and are the type who is easily entertained, then you might enjoy this movie.

Adam Sandler's character taps one of the flight attendants on the plane, and is forced to take anger management courses. It doesn't make any sense really, and it isn't funny. I feel as if the plane scene was a crappy rip off from the Ben Stiller film meet the parents. That was funny, once.

Jack Nicholson plays the "angry" anger management leader. It would have been more humorous if the purposes of his character weren't all really a trick that Sandler's girl friend and he were in on. The majority of the film is focused on the relationship with Sandler's character and Nicholson's character, and yet in the remaining 2 minutes of the film, they also try to make it romantic. The issue of Sandler's character and his girl friend out of no where becomes the central theme. I've seen better from Sandler(Punch Drunk Love), I've seen better from Nicholson(basically everything elses he's done), and I've seen better from this director. I just wish the talented people in this film had used their talent. It could've been funny.
