Too much drama, less action
1 February 2023
This is the second Turkish series in recent times that I couldn't watch after a few episodes. The previous one was Protector. This started out great, and the lead actress is super talented and sensual and would give any of the "oscar" actresses a run for their money. But the script is tediously slow and boring often focusing on petty personal drama than the actual theme, maybe it's a way to ease the budget because drama comes cheap. It could've been so much better. The Protector suffered from the exact same shortcomings. The characters and everything else is fine but the script needs to be revised.

Terrible script but ok effects
27 December 2022
Watched it for Jared Leto, as I don't have much hope for these shallow junk from Marvel and DC stuff. And I was right..the premise was good, but a terrible amateur script was unbearable. Where do all the bats come from in the end? A hastily packed garbage bag of incoherent script is what this is, and the immediate creation of good vs bad polarity is so amateur. They should've also let the movie breathe, make it longer to 2 hours at least. The redeeming aspect is the special effects. Seems like the story would've been more befitting for Batman rather than make him look like a clown with the bat suit.

Vikings: Valhalla (2022– )

Better than the original
26 November 2022
For some reason, I could never get into the original Vikings, it felt too pretentious and soft. Valhalla is much better albeit it still tries to soften the brutality of Viking raids, and as usual sex and nudity is replaced with gore as they feel it is more acceptable and palpatable..which is horrible. How has society come to accept so much gore and violence in mainstream, but sex and nudity is such a taboo? Ridiculous! Anyway, the series is engaging enough, and its strength derives a lot from the characters which was not the case with the original. The story line also moves at a good pace with steady tension.

Just ok

This is basically Sixth Sense on steroids. Hathaway has done a splendid job and so has Wilson. But the filmmakers have not made it very realistic - the concept is interesting but with the twist in the end, it makes the entire plot an imagined existence which is a bit much. But xoxo to Hathaway.

First episode and I'm done
11 May 2020
I almost thought about cancelling my Netflix subscription after watching the first episode. I have been increasingly annoyed with the low quality of Netflix-produced shows and movies. 8 out of 10 are worthless waste of resources. But this was simply disgusting..like do you now have any better ideas for entertaining the audience? With so much money and talent available, this is what you come up with?

Cult classic
25 April 2020
Don't know what the negative reviews are about. First few minutes into the movie and I was about to turn it off, and I thought Nicolas Cage is a goner now. But luckily I continued watching, and it turned out to be a super entertaining, twisted, avante garde, quirky, black comedy with an eerie plot and stellar performance by all actors especially Cage and the younger girl. But it's probably not for everyone and def not for closed minded people or who get personally triggered by certain things in here cause Cage does get intimate with his girlfriend's daughter..lol but it's in line with the story. I seriously think Cage should win some awards for this, and it's going to be a cult classic..I will watch it a few times for sure. It's just a wild fun ride

Terrible, not refreshing at all
11 April 2020
After reading all the great, exciting reviews claiming the show was so "refreshing", I thought I'd give this a try. I have to admit this is not really my kinda tv show genre but I mostly like British shows, so I have to review it to counter all the positives. I couldn't get past the second episode. This is claustrophobic rantings of a narcissistic "sexually liberated" woman. One has to be small-minded and wrapped up in their sexually frustrated boring lives to enjoy something like this. There is constant useless gutter talk that has no higher purpose. I have no idea why this is so famous. Next..

Annoying
3 April 2020
The first 2 episodes were ok. Then it gets really annoying when the main character turns into a narcissistic self-indulgent teeny bopper. It's impossible that she would change suddenly after being brought up for 15 years in the way that she was in the forest. The movie was better.

Awesome until end of season 3
30 March 2020
One of the top shows on Netflix no doubt. I don't know if it's such a good social message to make drug dealers into heros like in so many of these shows. Season 3 was tight like the first two seasons, but come to episodes 9 and 10, it just goes downhill into a sappy, soap opera with non-stop bawling, hystericals, just not aligned with the cool taut atmosphere the show had managed to create. They give too much screen time and importance to Wendy and her bipolar brother Ben and gets super annoying after a couple of his bipolar episodes..that the show becomes about him in the end. Marty is just hangin around like a useless clown. Anyway, I think 3 seasons is enough as the actors have also aged a lot especially Linney and Darlene.

Another terrible waste from Netflix
16 February 2019
To call this a B movie would be a compliment. Mads Mikkelsen is a very slight redeeming feature, hence the 1 star. Other than that, it's annoying, hollow and just a total waste at every level of filmmaking. I couldn't even finish watching it. It probably has one of the worst castings of a movie.

Watchin paint dry..slowly..very slowly
2 February 2019
As another reviewer made the paint reference, it's literally like watching paint dry, pun intended. Also, it just doesn't fit right to see a ruthless assassin being so judgmental about others. Waste of time and resources making such movies.

Very average, overtly emotional
2 February 2019
If this was a purely executional movie, I'd have rated it higher, but a lot of unnecessarily distracting emotion and overt chest thumping gives it a low level flavour. Also, the action sequences lacked creativity and felt boring.

Nothing like the original
24 November 2018
This is like a B rated version of the original Narcos. I guess most of the positive reviews are fake. I like Diego Luna and Michael Pena but they are miscasted here. They and most other actors lack the intensity required, I mean Diego Luna comes across like a confused teenager having an identity crisis, and not like the boss of a ruthless drug cartel. The writing and screenplay are also nowhere as gripping as the original. And they have taken a lot of creative liberties, so this shouldn't be considered a factual account.

Some good action sequences
18 November 2018
I liked Rogue Nation better. This one has some good action sequences but other than that, it lacks intelligence and creativity. Also, the American boy scout stuff - such as Hunt's constant reassurance to his team that "i won't let anything happen to you" - is just sickening. The lack of emotional depth makes this inferior to the Bond movies.

Terrible (pun intended)
10 November 2018
I am giving 1 star just for the cool scenes of Mumbai in the beginning. The girl clearly has no acting skills required for a plot such as this, she is better suited for some light weight teeny love story or something. The story revolves around the Mumbai terrorist attacks but does not delve into it at all. Rather this is an attempt at the Jodie Foster styled "Panic Room" sort of a thriller but fails miserably. The girl is locked inside her room with terrorists outside and as such, the weight of the movie is upon her acting skills, and as mentioned before, she does not deliver at all, and the rest of the script is equally boring, annoying to say the least! I could not watch it for more than 30 minutes.

Washed out b movie
10 November 2018
Another medieval-themed film trying to piggy back ride on the Game of Thrones vibe, but falls flat. Nothing special or new here, they tried to save it by adding some gruesome bloody scenes which were so obviously an attempt to align with GoT, it's just ridiculous. Netflix really needs to do a better job with their "originals".

Drive (I) (2011)
Painfully boring and cheap
18 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
This movie was probably made on a 10 thousand dollar budget. It must be the economy that movie makers are coming up with crafty ways to make a movie on a tight budget and pass it off as major releases. This movie was so unnecessarily slow and lack lustre, it's ridiculous. A mediocre soundtrack and over-dramatization of every scene got too much for many who left the movie midway. The director relies on Ryan's character for most of this movie, but his strong silent type act gets synthetic and annoying after a while. The plot is ridiculous and unintelligent, especially the way it ends. There is absolutely no action or exciting car chases that one would expect from a movie with such a title. To be redumdant, this was a low-budget movie with almost zero entertainment value. Please don't waste your money on this.
