Gargantua (1998)
Hehehehe
I give this movie a nine out of ten. It's so bad it's great (kinda like "Kung Pow").
The monsters are laughable, and the story line is oh-so-predictable and sappy in the extreme. I love it. Well, except for the sappiness.
I only watched it because of Adam Baldwin *sigh* and kept going because I was honestly entertained. Just one thing: everyone who says the villain is Australian: he's KIWI!! (From New Zealand. It's a separate country).
I gotta admit, though - the baby was cute.
Filling in lines of text, lines of text, lines of text. I'm filling in lines of text and now I wanna watch "Enterprise"!!!
Kung Pow: Enter the Fist (2002)
Take A Close Look...Cos This Film Rulz, Baby!
Hey y'all. I LOVED this movie. It's a REAL movie - I'll explain that in a sec - & it's currently at the top of my (short) list of films both my brother & I can enjoy together.
Now, I call Kung Pow a real movie because, first & foremost, movies are meant to entertain. That's why actors & all them are in the ENTERTAINMENT industry. That's not to say I don't enjoy films with a more serious slant, but I have to laugh when people stress out that some movies aren't historically accurate - like, oh say, Gladiator - because the whole purpose of a movie, I think, is to make you FORGET about reality for a while & just kick back and enjoy the show.
This film is great in that it just does nothing but make you laugh. I live in a divided household (I love Evil Betty & my brother is a staunch supporter of the Chosen One) which makes for some hilarious episodes in our life, usually right when we're in the middle of an argument. ^_^
Well, anyway, Kung Pow is a movie that I recommend that everyone see, simply because you have to watch it to formulate your own opinion on it. I had seen bits & pieces of it while my brother & step-father were watching it, and I thought it was the biggest waste of time ever. But then I got all curious as to what the fuss was over (& I wanted to see the fighting cow, Moon Yu) so I waited until I had the house all to myself for an afternoon & borrowed my brother's video & ... MWAHAHAHAHAH!!! I LOVED IT!! MWAHAHAHAHA!!!
All I can say in conclusion is "Take a close look...cos this film rulz, baby!" Chances are you won't regret it.
The Rundown (2003)
Oh Yeah!
I took my younger brother to see this flick two nights ago, and all we can say about it is: Oh, YEAH!!
It was funny, it was fast-paced, it was action-packed - and it had The Rock!! What more could you want?
I pity all those who hated it - where's your sense of humour, guys? Movies aren't supposed to be serious - they're there purely to entertain. Anyone who tells you otherwise (or makes movies otherwise) has got the wrong idea.
No Worries (1993)
Ugh
"No Worries" was filmed in my old hometown of Gilgandra NSW (technically on the sheepfarms in the shire, as well as nearby Dubbo) and there were even a couple of girls in my class at Gilgandra Public School (as well as a friend's old house that Matilda's family lived in) who featured as extras in the film.
Having said that, I'm aware that some people might expect me to feel that the film was enjoyable. And for city folks, maybe it was. But as a country girl, I can tell ya that things were depressing enough having to struggle to make a living through the on-going drought without having had it made into a film.
(Actually, it's not like things have improved, not even now I'm living in the "city".)
We were forced to travel to Dubbo to see the film, which turned out to be the most tortuous experience of my life! It was nasty. The word for it is "UGH".
My advice to you is: don't watch it! (Unless of course, you're an insomniac. Then feel free - it'll solve all your troubles! ^_^)
But anyway, that's all I can advise. Besides all my already mentioned complaints, the fact that an 11-yr-old country girl would run away TO THE OCEAN to get home is just total...rubbish.
(Uh, that is what happened, yes? It's been so long since I've subjected myself to the horrendous experience of it all!)
