There are quite a few on here giving this very good and hard effort a bad review. This is someone reimagining some aspects of the French revolution. This is not an historical piece. It is just for entertainment and great entertainment it is. The acting and the costumes are great. Very good story line. If you are going to watch it in English, then make sure to turn off the English subtitles which comes on by default.
There is a slight difference at times in what is said than the actual subtitle words even though the meaning is the same. I did not mind it, but some might. If you are watching in French with the English subtitles then you should not have an issue. I really enjoy this film and it had me hooked from the very first episode. Thanks Netflix for such an interesting drama/thriller.

Wow! From the panoramic back ground to the great acting this is a magnificent series. The story is well written and I believe most if not all of the actors and actresses play their parts well.
I have watched the 1975 series but I must say that I really love this one more. As opposed to the first series, this series leaves you in suspense and keeps you guessing and at the edge of your seat. The excitement is just too much. Aidian Turner plays the role of Ross Poldark absolutely well. Eleanor Tomlinson also fits the role Demelza very well.
This is definitely a great remake of a great story. It is a remake made fresh. One can tell that a lot was put into this series to make it a success. Job well done!

I think it is so unfair the amount of negative reviews I saw on here about this movie. No wonder the low rating which is unwarranted. I can't imagine how many people will miss out on such a good movie because of these misleading reviews. I tried to see what was so bad about this entertaining film and frankly speaking I could not.
The story is unique and perfect. The visual effects absolutely stunning. Lots of effort was made in the making this film. I could definitely watch it for a third time as I have already watched it twice in the past five days. If you are into Sci-Fi movies and good action this is a must see!!! Please don't miss out due to other peoples thoughts.

So what if it is not on par with what truly happened historically? So what if character representation is not precise? This mini series was not meant to be an historical reference. It was written for entertainment and very entertaining it is. Fact is no one knows absolutely for sure what took place back then as they were not around during that period. This mini series is not about what happened but rather about entertainment and what could have been.
Hats off to history channel for what I consider a masterpiece indeed. My only disappointment was that it was a short mini series. I really loved it.

I first saw this movie when I was a kid back in 77. I was 11 years old at the time and lived in West Africa. I had never seen anything like it before and was in much awe. After that I have probably watched this film ten or so more times since then. That goes to show how much I love this film. No matter how many times I have watched it I have never gotten tired of it.
This story is about real life and the characterization is just awesome. The film teaches us about life and how sometimes things that seem so little can bear huge consequences. There are times that you will laugh and times that you will cry during this film.
This film will be remembered by many for a long time to come.

Good movie deserves higher rating

It is very surprising that this movie has a lower rating. It is actually a very good movie. The story is good and the acting is very good. All of the actors are new to me with the exception of one who acted in days of glory another good movie.
Would recommend anyone who likes good movies to watch this disregarding the current low rating. You would not be disappointed. It keeps you thinking and at the edge of your seat for most of the movie. This is not a movie that you can watch and easily predict the ending. To think that I almost did not watch this movie because the rating was a little low for me. Wow was I surprised. This is a movie of intrigue, treachery, action and deception. The list could go on.
