Force 2 (2016)
Movie without any message, purpose or soul
I watched this movie on DVD last week after a friend told me that it is a one time watch. I have seen the previous Force which really had a great plot with nice acting by lead and supporting cast but this 2016 Force 2 is nothing as compared to the previous Force. And above that they have taken Sonakshi Sinha (the AKIRA girl) and her character is so dumb that sometimes you wish the bad guy should have killed her in the first half of the movie. Anyhow coming back to the plot, well actually the movie has no plot. The motive behind the wrongdoings by the bad guy is not justifiable and is childish. I don't understand what the team of writers were doing when they finalized this script. John is good but the story is so weak that you really feel bad that you actually decided to watch this dumb piece of cinema. As far Sonakshi is concerned, I wonder why she was taken for this role. The bad guy (Bhasin) is good and reminds of SRK from the movie baazigar. Just ignore it and watch Force 1 again.
Humshakals (2014)
Not a bad movie as other reviews suggest
To be honest I didn't watch this movie initially because of bad reviews by most of the professional reviewers. But yesterday I got its DVD and thought why not watch it at least for 15 minutes. And I was really surprised. I enjoyed the fist 15 minutes and decided to watch the entire movie and to be honest I had a blast. It is not a bad movie as other reviews suggest. I don't know why those reviewers didn't like the movie. Anyhow lets talk about story. The story is fine and screenplay is good. The dialogues and situations are okay. I laughed at almost every gag. Saif in the role of mental guy was superb. He stole the show with that character. Ram kapoor in all 3 roles was good. I felt Ritesh didn't get those excellent lines to deliver that he got in movies like Masti and Dhamaal. The 3 girls have small roles and have nothing much to do. I wonder what made a serious actor like Bipasha do this type of movie. Anyhow I feel Sajid Khan did a good job. And people should watch this movie themselves as reviewers don't have taste like you. Humshakals has a better story and gags as compared to Sajid's previous movies. So enjoy it and you will have a good laugh. Cheers.
2 States (2014)
Exaggerated Screenplay and Storyline
Those who do not know, 2 States is a real life story of writer Chetan Bhagat. The movie looks like an exaggerated version of real life events of Chetan and his family members.
Here are a few things I learned from this movie: I really didn't know that IIMs (especially the one in Ahmadabad) allows girls and boys to stay at each other's hostels. They can have sex, take showers together etc. And nobody cares to notice or complain. Very nice. I didn't know that a girl from pure brahmin family can be so broadminded that she has no objections non-veg, liquor and premarital sex. Also I didn't know that it is actually heroic on the part of a son to slap his father. Bravo.
We'll have been to colleges and I think the college events and lifestyle shown all other KARAN JOHAR's movies (those stupid movies featuring Sharukh and Kajol, student of the year etc.) are exaggerated and fake.
People like KARAN JOHAR are selling fake dreams and in the process badly affecting the mindset of millions of young students who actually go to colleges to make a career.
Songs are nice, performances are superb especially by Alia, Ronit Roy, Revati and Amrita Singh.
Overall 2 States is an okay movie and one time watch but do not ever believe that everything that is shown in the movie is from real life events of our writer Mr. Chetan 'STUD' Bhagat.
Commando (2013)
Action lovers won't be disappointed
Just saw this movie on DVD and I can say that it is one of the most entertaining Bollywood movies of 2013. This movie is far entertaining than other high budget and over-hyped crap like Dabang 2, Himmatwala etc. Though the plot is a little loose but still the entertainment quotient is far better as compared to other high budget movies. I was glued to my seat till last minute and didn't think about taking a break. The fun element, comic scenes (thanks to the villain Jaideep) and action sequences are top notch. The acting is good, especially the villain Jaideep was superb. Had the screenplay been more tight and believable, the movie would have been a classic cult. But it is still a very good movie. Here are my ratings:
Story 7/10
Screenplay 5/10
Direction 6/10
Editing 6/10
Acting 7/10
Music 8/10
Overall 7/10
Go grab the DVD if you still haven't watched this movie. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
3G: A Killer Connection (2013)
Stupid movie
3G - a killer connection is the most stupid movie I've seen in recent times. Story, acting, dialogs - everything is below average. I wonder why this movie was named 3G? The movie starts with a strange murder. Then we see the lead actor (Neil) using a computer screen that we normally see in IronMan movies. Then he lands in Fiji on a boat giving SRK (Don) a run for his money. Just kidding. A few minutes later, he drops his mobile in a pool when his GF gives him a hug. Then he buys a cheap looking phone (actually a Chinese version of Samsung Note) from an Indian shopkeeper who's living in Fiji since his birth but can speak better Hindi then the lead actor. Then we see forced songs, dull kisses, boring foreplay and strange things happening to the couple and their priced possession i.e. mobile. At a point when the couple goes to interrogate some guy (actually the one from the first scene) in a mental hospital, I gave up. I did not even bother to know why was this happening to the couple. Do watch it if you have really nothing to do. I am giving 2 stars for background score and songs. Rest everything is below average.
1920 (2008)
One of the best Bollywood horror movies
To be honest I wasn't having much expectations from 1920, as the cast was new and the songs were bad. But I was wrong. 1920 is a well-directed and well-written horror movie that has a terrific story line and dialogues. The first scene sets the tone and there are hardly any dull moments in the film except for the songs. Vikram Bhatt (director) did a fantastic job and the performances from the lead and supporting actors are fabulous. It is really one of the best horror flicks produced by Bollywood. You must watch it if you like no-nonsense horror movies with a great story and performances. Adah Sharma's performance was superb, Rajneesh Duggal was good, Raj Zutshi and other supporting actors did their job well. 8/10 from me.
Joker (2012)
Good Movie
Joker is definitely a better movie than what reviewers and critics have been portraying it on various websites and newspapers. Also shame on the lead actor (Akshay) who did not promote this movie as I feel 'Joker' is 10 times better than craps like 'Tees Mar Khan' and 'Houseful 2'.
This is a no non-sense movie with simple story, simple characters and simple dialogues. Music and cinematography are good. I quite enjoyed the 'Kafirana' and 'Sing Raja' songs – very energetic.
Acting by all the actors is good. Do not expect a thought-provoking movie. Also if you are expecting a sci-fi alien invasion movie then Joker is definitely not for you.
The story is a bit similar to 'Swades' starring Sharukh Khan but here the characters and overall theme is light-hearted and simple.
I think Shirish Kunder did a good job, looks like this guy is going through an unlucky phase of his career. I am giving it 7 / 10 and a must watch if you like clean and light movies.
Dangerous Ishhq (2012)
Great Story and a Good Movie
I don't understand why this movie got bad ratings, it is actually a very decent movie with good music and good acting. The story is very good and very different. Dangerous Ishq is entertaining and keeps you engaged right till last minute. I think 3D effects were not required and direction could have been a bit more strict. Though Karishma Kapoor did a good job, I feel her sister Kareena would have been a better choice for this role. Rajneesh Duggal did not get much scope, Jimmy was good as a cop, Divya Dutta and Gracy Singh were okay but the major surprise was Ravi Kishen. This guy has emerged as a great actor. He really boosted the last half an hour of this movie. I think you must watch this movie as the story is different and engaging. Cheers!
Haunted - 3D (2011)
Excellent movie with a great story and ending
Wow. Can't imagine that I just watched a Bollywood horror flick that is absolutely amazing and flawless.
Hats off to the writer (Amin Hajee) and director (Vikram Bhatt). I loved 1920 and considered it to the best Indian horror movie but after watching Haunted I feel this one is slightly better with a solid writing and a very engrossing screenplay.
The acting by all the actors was top class. Songs and background score were fantastic. Those who enjoy horror stuff should not miss this one.
I hope Vikram Bhatt and camp would stick to the same formula of doing non-vulgar and non-erotic stuff (1920, Shaapit and Haunted) and I am sure they will succeed next time as well.
I am going to watch Haunted a few more times.
Shaitan (2011)
An average movie without any chills and thrills
I watched this movie with a lot of expectations and was hoping some sensible stuff from Anurag Kashyap's production house. But after watching the movie I wondered who the Shaitan (Daemon) was. Was it the director (Bejoy), the writer (again Bejoy), producer (Anurag) or the viewer (a.k.a. me)? More on this later.
The movie started off quite well with good introductions of main characters but slowly it started going nowhere. A lot of situations in the movie were useless. For e.g. the issues between the inspector (Rajeev) and his wife were unexplained. Also there was no real need of this particular track.
Towards the second half, the director (I wonder who suggested him this) decided to put a lot of songs instead of a background score. Can you imagine songs playing in the background one after the other while you show the serious stuff on the screen?
As far as performances are concerned, the inspector (Rajeev) was the best followed by the commissioner (Pawan), KC (Gulshan) and Zubin (Neil). Amy (Kalki) and others were average.
Overall it is a one time watch movie that you want to forget asap.
So who was the real Shaitan? I guess it was the director as he could have made a more tight and gripping stuff.
