FBI: International (2021)
So bad
What a terrible waste... it did not start out too awfully but very soon revealed its true colours... badly scripted, badly acted and so many misconceptions, factual, geographical and historical errors... truly painful to watch... the scripts are riddled with horrible lines on top of the nonsensical plots. It gets to the point where you question the whole purpose of the FBI franchise if they can stoop to this level and is the acting so bad because of the material and/or the actors themselves? Why a second season? Hope it did not get renewed for a third season as this would be adding insult to injury.
Brothers & Sisters (2006)
Overall disappointment
The premise of the Show is interesting and the ensemble cast is great! I truly liked the first three seasons which were well acted, well scripted and interesting! Towards the end of the third season it started to slip, the scripts got a little sloppier and many factual errors occurred. From then on it went downhill fast as though we entered Soap Opera territory with ridiculous plots and subplots, important characters just eclipsed and ridiculous plot lines exploding everywhere.. the only thing we were spared were the aliens.. I still don't understand how there was a fourth and fifth season and it was torture to see it through! It is the difference between a network show and a cable show! A network show does not know when to call it quits.
House of Hammer (2022)
Absolute crap
First off, as of 3 days ago all charges have been dropped which means nothing in the grand scheme of things but this documentary series is absolute garbage... the first episode centres on the alleged "sex scandal" involving Armie Hammer but has no true probative value.. and then the family saga is "revealed" and more and more "horrors" surface trying to indicate patterns of abuse from generation to generation... totally preposterous statements about his great grandfather such as worst man of the 20th century which is ridiculous.. that tycoons are horrible beings is one thing, such statements are idiotic and all the "testimonies" feel more like personal publicity and/or self agrandization.. it could have been interesting but it is just grandiloquent and self serving.
Transatlantic (2023)
Too Romanticized
The true story is well known and awe inspiring. A true larger than life story in WWII occupied France when the South was still a "free" zone. All the refugees were in Nice, Cannes, Marseille awaiting to leave the territory. Unfortunately, the series is torn between retelling the true events and highly romanticising them with the addition of too many love interests as well as too many politically correct subplots raising concerns that were not relevant at the time especially in time of war. Those tend to slow and hinder the proper storytelling, depriving it of fluidity in addition to some completely false resistance storylines. It could have been great.
Lady Chatterley's Lover (2022)
Do not understand the hate
I truly do not understand why this movie is so reviled. I have read all D. H. Lawrence and most people fail (or do not wish to) understand that his main purpose was the study of social inequities and their devastating effect on British Society in the early 20th Century. All is work tends to illustrate that. Lady Chatterley's Lover is a prime example of that beyond the scandal around its publication. It is the first time that I truly see this aspect in an adaptation as well as the sex not being necessarily pretty and romantic. Their relationship is the closest one to the book I have ever seen. So haters pass your way, the cast, direction, cinematography everything rings true.
The First Lady (2022)
Disturbing
I find this show deeply disturbing. Only the Betty Ford segments ring true and are interesting in revealing her fights, influence and importance on prominent issues. Michelle Pfeiffer is truly amazing and brings her immense talent to honour Betty Ford as she should be. On the other hand, while Gillian Anderson is great as usual, her Eleanor Roosevelt character brings nothing new to the table. This is the central flaw of the show, the script is truly undeserving when it comes to its characters with the exception of Betty Ford. The worst being Michelle Obama. Why such an angry and antagonistic writing of Michelle Obama and why Viola Davis who delivers the same character ad in Murder. No nuance and not right to represent Michelle Obama! I do not understand this show's purpose! It should have been centered on Betty Ford only.
The Bling Ring (2022)
Too bad to handle
Too vapid like the protagonists themselves! Ok the underlying paparazzis, rise of the social media theme could have been interesting if well executed! But this is essentially a life-story of the protagonists and they are the total disaster.. they exemplify greed, unapologetic behaviour and they try to "redeem" themselves with worse and worst actions!
Brand naming, shamelessly wearing the spoils, looking for fame.., basically whoring themselves out in order to get a better deal at trial and "victimising" themselves! They are so hollow and such horrible persons! The Mom really takes the cake! No wonder the offsprings are so brainless.
Filthy Rich (2020)
Big Miss
Completely misses the satire angle and ends being a very mediocre Soap Opera! There was an occasion and there was a good cast but the scenario wanders in too many directions without zeroing on a good and healthy criticism. It is not a comedy, it is not a drama, it is not a satire. It does not land anywhere!
Turning Point: 9/11 and the War on Terror (2021)
Honesty
First comprehensive and intelligent documentary series on 9/11 and its aftermath! Honesty. It shows the background and the different fallouts of 9/11. It looks diligently and fairly at the moving pieces, the lues, the deceptions and the failures.
Victoria (2016)
Where is the truth gone?
It is a romanced version, sappy at times and inaccurate at best! Great production and scenography and good acting but too far from reality ... it is a fiction.
Industry (2020)
Into the Void
Sad, shallow, hyper sexed empty and vacuous show!! It is preposterous and makes finance looks like it is still the 80s... The sad attempt in the last episodes to inject some conscience and ethics is pathetic! It us a staccato pantomime clubbish druggidh scene and devoid of true content and realism! Could have been.
Those Who Wish Me Dead (2021)
What a Disaster
Totally predictable, seen a hundred times or more... waste of great talent! Lacks connection, intensity and thrill. It is just a miss, a totally forgettable movie.
War & Peace (2016)
Good show but War and Peace it is not
It is a beautiful show in itself with great production and great cast and cinematography but is not War and Peace! As with most attempts at adaptation, Tolstoï and his vision are elusive at best but not here!
No One Saw a Thing (2019)
Preposterous
Too preposterous... extremely diluted and way too irrelevant... wanna be profound but grasping at straws! Also not interesting...
Halston (2021)
Disappointing
Great acting but so cold and superficial as it is only a long string of anecdotes and some facts but no soul.
The Kitchen (2019)
Tragically Bad
What a tragic waste of talent.... the only good thing is the Soundtrack... the rest is BAD
