The Dark: The Great Deceiver (2020)
END OF TIMES
I was pleasantly surprised to watch this mini-series. The first episode was hard to follow because they are setting up all the characters, but after that it was neat how they went back and forth from the past to the present to see how they all came to spot they are. I would give THE DARK two thumbs up!
Mine 9 (2019)
Surprising How Good It Was
Since I was home this popped up on Netflix and I watched the trailer, which was powerful. I started watching and before I knew it the film was over and I hadn't moved. Yes it's a short film, but very intense and makes you understand how dangerous it is to be a coal miner. I'd like to see a bit more character development in the beginning, but the MINE itself as "the villain" was so powerful that I let it slide. Having real miners at the end was a nice touch. I looked more into the movie and found out that a lot of the movie was shot on a soundstage and cut back and forth between a real mine. THAT WAS SEAMLESS. I really liked this one.
Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny (2018)
BLOWN AWAY
Was unsure how this series would hold up to the previous Panda stories, but I was BLOWN AWAY! They took this series farther than I could've imagined. I watched this with my son and we couldn't stop. The visuals are like watching a movie, the writing and actors were AMAZING! Great for kids and just edgy enough for adults to be able to watch also. Hope there are more episodes coming and Amazon just hit a gold mine with this series.
Magic for Humans (2018)
Very Surprised
"Magic For Humans" popped up as a "what to watch" after I finished another show, so I let it roll into it to see what it was about. GLAD I DID! I binged watched all the episodes and thought the show was original, funny and the host was cool. The drones episode blew me away, as did the one where everyone is drawing on one another's backs. Hope to see more fresh comedic magic episodes from Justin Willman. Looks like Netflix landed a good show here.
A Christmas Tree Miracle (2013)
Pleasantly Surprised!
Every year it seems like there are a ton of new holiday movies. I really just would like to keep tabs on the few that I watch every year and that be the end of it! Having said that, this movie was given to our family as a gift for Christmas and the family who gave it to us in town, they wanted to WATCH IT WITH US! WHAT? So, we planned a night and we started watching "another" Christmas movie, because that's what you do during the holidays. Withing about 15 min I noticed there wasn't any talking and everyone (all 15 of us from 8 years to 72) were silent and hanging on every word said. Very quickly I and my entire family realized, that this is a movie you HAVE TO SEE EVERY HOLIDAY SEASON! The message it gave to viewers was fantastic and will reminded you every year to start your new year off on a good foot! No....it's not your typical Christmas movie...it is so much more. Hope everyone else enjoys "A Christmas Tree Miracle" as much as my family did.
