Reviews
Instinct (2018)
I like it!
It may not be the greatest program on tv, but I find the extremely negative reviews to be a bit puzzling. Apart from "Lucifer" there aren't many shows I make a point of watching. I really enjoy Alan Cumming's role and performance. Wouldn't be the same show, or even a show, without him. I hope it makes it for more this first series.
Night of the Twisters (1996)
Much enjoyed
I thought this was a very good movie. Better than the other "Twisters" movie. I just wish it would be shown more often.
Knightfall (2017)
Not as expected
I had been looking forward to this series. However, as I have got older, my stomach seems to have got more squeamish. An awful lot of battle, brutality and blood, rather like The Vikings. So I will pass on further installments. I had always pictured the Holy Grail as a rather splendid vessel, made of silver or gold, but it looked rather disappointing. The History has good programs. I will view others.
Inside Out (2015)
I'm with the other reviewers
This is an easy one for me as I agree with the other reviewers. I was surprised as all I had heard and read about Inside Out led me to believe it was wonderful, so it's not me it's Pixar. Fortunately, I did not have to pay extra as it was on the STARZ channel, which is part of my TV package.
It is beautifully "drawn", the speech and lip movements are wonderful. But I found it confusing and depressing. All those different colored balls rolling about, and the blue Depression was definitely annoying. I feel sorry for parents who had anticipated being able to take their children to see "Inside Out". There aren't a lot of movies that are family oriented.
Pixar has made so many wonderful movies in the past and I know they can and have done better. I look forward to their next production.
Death in Holy Orders (2003)
Very good, with one problem for me
I too have been used to seeing Roy Marsden as Adam Dalgleish, but changes are not always bad. I watched it on PBS recently, so it was some years after it first appeared in the UK. It was one of those "I know that person" moments that often occur while watching British programs. More recently here we have watched Mr. Shaw in the Inspector George Gently series, and here he is looking much younger! The production dates explained that confusion.
I have enjoyed the two programs very much. I hope there are more. My only problem is that "Death in Holy Orders" ran for three hours from 8-11 pm. I just can't stay awake that long! A friend in the UK explained that their version is cut up into shorter episodes, perhaps hourly. This is a PBS choice, and doesn't take away from the whole production.
Such a nice change from continuous gun battles and car chases!
