Seven Seconds (2018)
Extremely well written police apathy, racial issues and court drama
This was a very well written show. It did not contain any regular tropes that we are used to. The acting was top notch. I did not plan to binge watch it but simply could not stop once I started watching it. The acting by officer Fish was superb. Most of the plot lines fit so perfectly. The ending could have been a little better and more satisfying, but looks like it wanted to portray the sense of apathy that has prevailed in police system. All the other characters have very well developed story lines and no single character was over developed or under developed. Overall I loved the series. Must watch!
Lupin (2021)
Poorly written, giant loopholes.
Everything is so poorly written and has such giant loopholes. For example what was the point of holding a knife to villains throat and make him accept all his crimes when hero himself knew all that anyways. And then he does nothing to him and simply now tries to save himself from all the goons. I mean seriously? All the situations are so contrived and try to make hero look so genius but it all seems so childish and fake. Really poor writing I believe. So many places you would roll your eyes and shriek "REALLY????" ! Lol. If you try to keep logic and plausibility aside, mayb you would enjoy a bit.
Making a Murderer (2015)
Best documentary about David versus Goliath I ever watched!
Oh My God! I did not expect this series to be so engrossing. It was exceptionally long, but not a single minute I got bored. This was an incredible series shot over a decade. You would seethe with insurmountable anger when you see what police did to Avery! And the patience that man and his family had to endure all that! I am amazed to see how the whole police force and the judicial system conspired against Avery and caused him so much mental and physical toll. And that guy and his parents had so much patience and grit to fight against all that injustice!
Another thing I noticed was that the Avery family looked like the typical non classy redneck folks with the police fraternity all high and mighty and classy but their behaviour was starkly opposite. I saw Avery family sticking together and behaving so classy while the so called police and lawyers and officials behaving and acting so crass and corrupt and filthy. What a shame.
It just broke my heart to see the Avery family's plight. Had me in tears a lot of times. All in all, I am half way in and simply shocked to see something like this can happen! An absolutely must watch for everyone! You can get the best crime writers and not be able to come up with a more engrossing and thrilling legal crime story that what you would see in this true story, I can guarantee that!
Imawa no Kuni no Arisu (2020)
Poor acting, wanna be squid game. Falls flat!
The whole series has tried to copy Squid Games but falls flat. Acting is very bad with weird facial expressions and overacting. Why every girl is in a bikini or skimpy clothes? That scene where judo girl fights the tattooed guy is so yuck. She suddenly develops so much concentration that she can suddenly fight him with eyes closed? Specially when she hated her father and martial arts? Doesn't make sense! Character development is so less. Giving little back detail for these extra characters seemed so ham-handed. All in all I struggled to maintain any interest. Kept on going in hopes that it will get better. Nah! And such mindless and boring killing. They kept killing to the point where it had absolutely no effect on viewers. People dropped like NPC's and we don't empathise with the people being killed. Absolutely mindless show!
777 Charlie (2022)
Started strong but became meh in the second half
Movie started strong. Guy doesn't care much for others. The way he was almost forced to take care of the dog was nicely done. But latter part of the plot had some cringe acting. Specially the dog show part. How did he manage to jump so high? Just because? The Punjabi judge berating him felt really contrived and fake. And the forced placement of foreigners acting so surprised? Lol. The premise of taking the dog to enjoy in the snow? That part was also weird. How did he know that was all the dog wanted to do? All in all a good watch but I had higher hopes for the climax. The latter part of the movie felt flat.
Narco Saints (2019)
Entertaining but poor acting and childish
It has 8 score in IMDB so I watched it. And since the name has narcos, I definitely compared it to Narcos & Narcos Mexico. Compared to them, this one feels childish, with poor acting, some scenes that do not make sense, interlaced with bad CGI. But it still was a very interesting story to watch. I enjoyed it since it was short with just 5 episodes. But the acting and bad cgi and other issue lingered at the back of my mind. Maybe the budget was less, hence they had to add the CGI planes instead of real jets. A grenade created a crater in the ground. Some loopholes in story. All in all, you can watch it once. You would be entertained if you can look past the cons.
Grahan (2021)
Exceptionally sweet/tragic love story against a dark backdrop of riots
The story is riveting and talks about a very rarely touched upon topic of 1984 riots. The love story is quite sweet and engaging to watch. So many twists and turns . In short a must watch ! Deserves 10/10. Brought tears to my eyes and choked me on many occasions, which is a testimony to how touching the story and its depiction is!
Kaagaz (2021)
Tries too hard to be funny and inspiring but fails!
Movie tries to take up a social injustice subject but fails to evoke much emotions. Jokes have been added forcibly and are not funny. Rhythm is lacking in storyline and movie feels haphazard. Acting is also not great. Did not like it!
Aspirants (2021)
Extremely riveting and true masterpiece!
Simply superb and riveting watch. Never knew a youtube video series could have suck high production value and could be amazing! Just wow.
Mandela (2021)
Absolutely hilarious, emotional and thought provoking! Must watch!
The premise of a lower caste barber being the sole deciding vote, due to which the whole village tries to shower him with freebies is absolutely hilarious! The movie is a laugh riot! The caricature of villagers being pulled mid excretion and pulled to use the newly built toilet and then destroying it so that others do not get to use it, and many more such comedic gold make the movie extremely funny.
The second half is very emotional and poignant! Complete contrast to the funny first half. You really feel sorry for the protagonist. Also bring out the cruel world we live in.
Absolutely must watch!
Chhapaak (2020)
Extremely emotional and gut wrenching performance
Deepika's performance was excellent. So was Massey's. Amazing performance from everyone.
Hand of God (2014)

StartUp (2016)
Meh. Not that brilliant. Tries too hard to sound edgy!
Some dialogues are quite cringe inducing. Many scenes have wierd dialogues. Many scenes are simply forced as fillers like nick's relationship with his gf. Ronald's son repentance. Many scenes were so damn boring. So many product placements! Sex scenes seem forced without any reason.
Characters are not likeable. Only character which I liked was Edi Gathegi! Rest are forgettable.
Lars and the Real Girl (2007)
A Gem
I was not prepared for what I came across in the movie. The movie summary itself tells us that its about a guy getting a love doll from the internet and forming a relationship, which is what there is in the movie. But ! the way things unfold in the movie was astonishing. The way the subtle threads of the movie open up and the way in which we all watch the movie through Lars visions & perspective was just amazing and brilliant. Maybe some people would find it boring, maybe I am a sucker for movie with deep meanings and reasonings which you have to figure out for yourself. All in all, the movie took a very unconventional theme and managed to bring in such fine touched performances and meanings to the story is simply amazing. This story would be impossible to occur in normal contemporary human lives. There is no room for such kindness anymore in today's world. Thats what was amazing in the film. Just do not try to 'reason' in the film and just go along with Lars. You have to see for yourself, you would be touched.
