Dames 4 (2015)

Very, very good film

I really enjoyed Dames 4. The pacing is fantastic, the story is recognisable and engaging without becoming cliché'd and the acting is excellent. Particularly Hannah van Lunteren is amazing, portraying the deeply complex and nuanced main character, Wyne. The challenges and developments that Wyne goes through are completely relatable, and sometimes we love to hate her, or enjoy cringing at her life choices. But mainly we just love her.

All rond a very satisfying movie, which is funny, entertaining, touching and very real.

Monkeys (2015)

Intriguing, disturbing, compelling

Monkeys is a thought provoking peek into a relationship that seems dysfunctional... but is it? Despite the story taking place in confined space and time, the exploration of human personal and interpersonal emotions and motivations is vast in breadth.

The performances by Christopher Soren Kelly and Jessica Graham are superb. With little to no dialogue, supported by amazing sound design and visual imagery, they manage to portray very deeply complex and intriguing characters.

The film is visually delightful, deeply touching, complex and disturbing. I highly recommend it.
