Grant (2020)
Interesting story until they showed their true colors
I decided to watch the tv docuseries "Grant", at 11 minutes in, they discuss the division of slavery, as a map, while Grant was at West Point,... they decided to subtly use colors regarding the divide and use them prior to the creation of the republican party, and flipped it to sell a timely agenda, just stop it. It's still a great story to watch. But I see what you did, but that is what television has become. Salinger is great, and it is well shot.
Fear the Walking Dead (2015)
I like the show,..but sweet Jesus
But in the latest episode they are trying to tell me that a horde of thousands of walkers appear out of nowhere in the middle of nowhere,..it just doesn't make sense. I mean think about it, hundreds of thousands appear out of thin air in the middle of a dry and aired desert. This is a perfectly executed example of jumping the shark, it doesn't make any sense. And I mean if this was a literal reality,..it still wouldn't make any sense. Good lord people,..think about what your writing,...drama and the concept of story telling are two different things.
The F Word (2017)
No spoilers but it a ..MEH
I was a fan of The F word,..but the US version misses the notes that made the UK version likable,..make the stars cook the meals. The makeup gag by Tony Gardner and his EFX crew was awesome. But the rest of the show was disjointed and didn't make sense. I'd rather watch Masterchef or Masterchef Junior,..hell Masterchef Canada is better. Just saying this show had awkward editing and made me feel that I could turn it off at any moment,..and not miss a thing. I rather watch him doing what made him famous or reviewing Hotels.
Night Shift (1982)
Classic Under-rated Comedy
Well you all should know the plot line by now, from the other comments.
I decided to pick this one up to see if it held up over the years, since I hadn't seen it since the theatrical. Wow 27 years. And I have to say, I laughed just as hard as I did back then. This movie is well worth looking at again. The quotes go on and on. I still say "That Barney Rubble,..what an actor".
And when Michael Keaton is driving and flipping off the cops, come on, what is not to love.
Everyone is great in this movie, Winkler, Keaton, Long, Belzer, when I was young I dreamed Shelly Long would make me eggs.
I could go on and on.
Comedies today should take note of the brash classics of the early eighties.
Also just look at 42nd street before Disney took over.
Mechenosets (2006)
WOW, I was quite impressed
There is a lot of crap coming out of Hollywood lately.
A friend, sends me movies now and again, as a surprise, it's awesome.
I turned it on and couldn't stop watching, it is a drama, but with a odd twist. Imagine if Romeo, as in Shakepeare, had a super power. It is sad and poetic at the same time. Hollywood should take notice of the new Russian cinema, they are telling stories that are not about big explosions and cgi. It takes a simple basic premise and tells a story, without a spectacle. This is a lot like an Asian film with a dark Russian twist. Granted it's not perfect, but nothing ever is. You know what the power is but it is never explained, nor totally realized until the end. It becomes secondary to the emotion of the story. I don't want to see a remake, it is too cool as is, the Hollywood system would, as usual, mess it up. Acting is top notch all around. Directing and Camera work are far above most of the crap that is out there. Kudos to all involved, and I will turn a lot of people on to this independent epic. A+++++
If you can find i, watch it.
