The Ranch (2016–2020)
5/10
An unfunny comedy with little substance.
8 April 2016
The Ranch is a Netflix original series where Ashton Kutcher plays a former football player that decides to move back into his dad's ranch with his brother Rooster and father Beau.

One of my biggest gripes with the show is the laugh track. It plays way too often and most of the jokes aren't funny. I laughed one time at a joke in the fifth episode and that's it. The only reason I finished the season was to be a fair critic.

Another issue is that none of the characters are very deep or interesting. They're just combinations of poor clichés. None of the characters develop or change and aren't entertaining enough to draw consistent laughs.

The show tries to bring in small moments of drama into it like Rooster and Colt both resenting each other or Beau and Colt's mother Maggie considering a divorce but none of the moments of drama are interesting because none of the characters are likable or have defining personality traits.

The show is also cheaply made and it really shows. It looks like they spent less than a hundred dollars on the budget of the series. All the money probably went into beer product placement.

The X-Files: Babylon (2016)
Season 10, Episode 5
5/10
Not very good.
27 February 2016
When someone tunes in to watch the X-Files they typically expect two government agents to solve bizarre paranormal crime. In this episode though it's a poor tackling of America post 911 for the X-Files to attempt relevancy. The beginning of the episode seemed straight out of 24 instead of a promise of the paranormal.

The main irritation of this episode comes from two younger cardboard cut outs of Mulder and Scully the guy is so generic his name isn't important, and the woman is named Einstein. It's very obvious the torch is supposed to be passed to these two characters to become the new Mulder and Scully but the problem is that they're just poor carbon copies of Mulder and Scully. Devoid of any real personality, substance of intrigue.

The episode ends on some religious pretentious garbage that springs up memories of turkeys from the original series like "Fight Club" and "First Person Shooter"

Deadpool (2016)
7/10
A solid change from standard superhero films.
27 February 2016
In an age of never ending superhero films it's nice to come across a film like Deadpool. Deadpool tells the story of a mercenary named Wade Wilson who becomes a test subject for a shady organization after discovering he has cancer. After surviving he becomes a mercenary bent on revenge calling himself Deadpool.

The plot of the movie is very formulaic and true to form. The real delivery of Deadpool instead comes from it's sense of humor. Deadpool is self referential, crude, but also a lot of fun. It's a balance between pure gritty antihero movies like "The Punisher" and typical superhero fanfare of "The Avengers." However, with such a barrage of never ending jokes some are guaranteed to be funnier than others.

One of my gripes with the film comes from the main character himself. Although Wade Wilson is understandable in motive and generally funny some of the emotional moments of the film landed flat for me since he's unlikable. It's an entertaining film and worth watching at least once though.

Far better then the trailer made it out.
8 August 2011
I have to admit that I first judged this movie from it's trailer (who doesn't?) It looked astronomically dumb. With some kid running around in his underwear screaming random things. It made me cover my face in shame. But when I finally got around to watching it I was actually taken back by how enjoyable the movie was. The movie managed to be fun, upbeat, and Robert Downy Jr. did a very nice job in it. (My favorite part was when he fights Charlie in the pool when he thinks that he got his daughter pregnant) If you are sick of watching the same dumb teen coming of age movies that Hollywood has made and you want a slight change of pace then you should watch this movie.

Yu-Gi-Oh! (I) (2000–2006)
6/10
I actually like it.
8 August 2011
Long before Little Kurbioh started making his videos I watched the original series of Yugioh and it's spin off Yugioh Gx. Even though I'm fully aware that it's just an excuse to sell cards of a trading card game I actually think the series has a lot of charm to it. The villains are all either scary or just plain funny, the duels can sometimes be exciting, and Yugioh is the only show I can think of that actually has great filler. In fact some of my favorite seasons of the show (The Noah Virtual World saga and the Waking the Dragons arc) While the dub by 4kids is littered with horrible voice acting, lame jokes, and plenty of cringe worthy moments the original Japanese sub had amazing opening and closing credits and adds a lot of substance to the story.

Feels like a Pokemon movie.
8 August 2011
The Yugioh Movie feels a lot like a Pokemon movie. Both of them are non cannon (I think) boring as hell, and not worth watching. The plot of this movie is wasted. Instead of developing the background of the Pharaoh or giving character development to Kabia the movie is mostly just a duel between Kabia and Yugi (as Little Kurbioh cleverly claimed that's never been done before) while Kabia is actually being used by Anubis (who somehow knows about the Pharaoh) his plan doesn't make a lot of sense. The thing that I'm most disappointed about this movie was just how long the duel between Yugi and Kabia was. I know that they wanted to promote cards for the game but it felt really obvious that they were doing that. Save your money and your time and don't watch this movie (Bonds Beyond Time is way better)

Swing Vote (2008)
3/10
Movie tries to beat it's absurb premise.
8 August 2011
Even for a movie Swing Vote has a absurd premise. The idea that our democratic voting system can be founded on one man voting is incredibly ludicrous even for the plot line of a movie. Thankfully the movie decides to try and be more then just Kevin Costner (ugh) farting around talking with politicians. The movie instead focuses on his relationship with his daughter. It tries to show the common man's focus on politics. Despite this idea though the movie still doesn't work. The family moments come across as being too cheesy and the movie isn't able to get across it's bizarre premise. Although the movie was better then I expected it to be (which isn't saying much) it's not worth watching. It's a mediocre Costner movie but if you are a fan of his then you've seen worse by him (like The Postman)

The Crow somehow becomes worse.
8 August 2011
The second Crow movie was awful without a doubt. It was boring, on a lower budget, and felt like it was being made only for a profit. However, despite the numerous errors of it was still watchable. Nothing in this movie makes any sense. From the Crow being a messenger of God (since when?) to him having to fight Satan (even though David Boreanaz character doesn't change at all) Edward Furlong actually seems like he might had been a good Crow if he was given a better script and if he laid off the drugs. The worst part about this movie was Tara Reid though. Tara Reid has never been a good actress but she is incredibly washed up and it shows from this movie. I know that Dennis Hopper has been in some turkeys as well but this must had been a new low for him.

Shouldn't had been made.
8 August 2011
Although his this a painfully sleep inducing movie this movie shouldn't had been made because it and it's sequels tarnish the image of the first movie. Although this has never stopped Hollywood from making movies before. This movie doesn't even seem like a Crow movie. It seems like a very typical revenge movie (something that the original Crow movie managed to make work for itself) you don't really care about the characters, the movie is obviously put on a lower budget, and it's the kind of movie that you can't help but not get involved in. It really seems like you could go out to eat, watch a different movie, and then come back and you wouldn't had missed anything. The movie also relies far too much on the clichés of the first movie (the following sequels also do that as well though.)

Daredevil (2003)
5/10
Has a few saving graces but ultimately not worth watching.
8 August 2011
My review is actually of the original theatrical cut of Daredevil (but everyone has told me that uncut is far better) Daredevil is a movie that is ultimately a sub par superhero film but actually manages to has a few saving graces. Some of the cons of the movie is that the movie rushes through it's origin. While some movies linger far too long on a characters origin (Malcolm X as a hustler) this one manages to cut shot a lot of drama and tragedy with Matt Murdock losing his eyesight. Ben Affleck is also a very wooden actor and it seems like Jenifer Gardner was phoning it in as well. The movie is also nowhere close to how good the comic is. However, one of the biggest saving graces of the movie is Michael Clarke Duncan. Despite not looking like the original Kingpin he is very intimating and I felt like he was one of the few actors actually delivering a performance in the movie.

Average creature feature with a few problems.
8 August 2011
As the title says this movie was an average creature feature. Something that was made now that easily could had been made when cinema was still in black and white. As a whole I thought the movie was okay. However, the biggest gripe that I actually have with this movie is that the villain gets away. The villain of this movie turns out to actually be the mayor of the town who had been bringing in radioactive materials (or something like that) the townspeople rightfully decide to go after him for indirectly mutating the spiders but he actually manages to get away. I honestly don't know why that even happened. Did they plan on making a sequel? That's really the only gripe of this movie that sticks out.

The Last Song (2010)
4/10
A obviously bad film.
7 August 2011
This is a obvious bad movie. I'm pretty sure everyone that went into the theaters went in and knew this was going to be crap. Everyone at least had doubts about it because Miley Cyrus is given the lead role. If you thought that Miley Cyrus was going to do a good job and show some acting chops then you were probably living in denial. To be fair this movie would had been mediocre even without Miley Cyrus in the lead (although she didn't help things) the reason why is that the book from Nicholas Spark's was crap so the odds were good that the movie was going to blow too. The movie even seemed like it was going to bad after the opening credits. Almost like the movie wanted to be seen as much as the reluctant boyfriends that were dragged to see it.

The Crow (1994)
8/10
A personal favorite of mine.
7 August 2011
I don't actually watch many movies more then once but The Crow is actually one of the few movies I've seen more than once. I genuinely like the movie for several reasons. I find this to be one of the best revenge tales I've ever seen. Unlike almost all other revenge flicks I've seen this one works because the characters are likable. The theme of the movie is actually tied into the unfortunate death of Brandon Lee. It also manages to capture the atmosphere of the Grunge craze that happened in the 90s. The best part about it though is that the movie manages to pull all of this off and still not seem dated. Even though I only saw this movie twice it felt better watching it the second time around rather then the first. I also like the movie more then the Comic even though the comic is solid as well.

Highlander (1986)
5/10
Not for everyone I guess.
7 August 2011
I find it hard to believe that this movie has any sequels or is even a cult movie. Although this movie didn't make me want to rip my eyes out (that honor goes to Bloodrayne) But nothing about this movie kept me awake. I find Christopher Lambert to be a boring and dry actor so him being a leading man was difficult for me to sit through and this entire movie is dated. Any substance that the concept of this movie had is just ruined by how dated this movie is. In fact it managed to make the idea of immortals fighting each other with swords seem boring somehow. None of the sword fights are really good either because no tension is really put into any of them. Forgot what the fan boy's say it's a mediocre movie.

Can't help but laugh at how absurd this film is.
7 August 2011
My summary title says it all. I honestly can't believe how absurd this movie is. The villain is incredibly over the top to where they might as well be laughing every scene she's in (hell she practically does several times) even for a kids movie this movie's storyline has a lot of conveniences. Such as how both of Lindsey Lohan's parents are still in love with each other (even though I don't remember why they broke up in this movie) and even how the two "twins" meet. Something that I will give this movie credit though is that even though it's just a average kids movie it's not degrading to any of the actors. It also shows early talent from Lindsey Lohan which makes it a shame that she later appears in movies such as "I know Who killed Me"

Naruto (2002–2007)
7/10
A solid and enjoyable anime.
7 August 2011
I use to be a huge fan of Naruto a few years ago. I thought it was a great and compelling show. I liked the intense action scenes, and the story arcs in the show. I also liked how Naruto and others powers developed making each fight different from each other. However I dislike the massive filler the anime has (yes I am aware that it is done to make the manga ahead of the anime but it seems like the show has over 500 episodes of filler) Something that I also dislike is how every single character seems to have a tragic back story and they all seem to repeat themselves. The show also makes poor use of it's side characters and their is little to no character development in the story.

Naruto: Shippuden (2007–2017)
6/10
Some good moments but story needs to end soon.
7 August 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Naruto Shippuden original started out better then the original series. I looked forward to the new villains, how Naruto had changed over 2 years, and just where the story was going to go but as a whole the series just keeps going further and further down the hole. Sasuke has a boring storyline of going after his brother which really should had just ended after Itachi died. It seems like Naruto didn't learn anything over 2 years and their are tons of sequences of him training, and the villains are around for so long that it seems like they are never truly gotten rid of. One of the biggest drop the ball moments was when Pain brought everyone back to life which made his entire invasion pointless and was a crappy way to kill off his character. Sakura also became even more annoying then she use to be and the side characters might as well had been killed off the way they are used.

Blank Check (1994)
3/10
Very typical 90s movie.
7 August 2011
In the same vein as Disney movies such as the Parent Trap this is the embodiment of a movie that would had been shown on the Disney channel before they started making their own movies, or it would just be shown on TV. The plot of this movie is simplistic and predictable, the acting is passage, and the jokes are so lame that they make Dane Cook look good but with typical kids movies like this you don't exactly expect greatness. This movie has a fair rating on IMDb. A very bland obscure 90s movie that no one saw or even if they did, they forgot it to make room for other things. It was very clear that this movie was made for profit. No true effort was put into this movie from the characters to the humor.

Far Cry (2008)
4/10
Uwe Boll starts to slowly improve.
7 August 2011
Unlike early Uwe Boll movies such as Bloodrayne, Alone in the Dark, and House of the Dead, Far Cry isn't actually a horrible movie. It's just a below average one. The movie has a slow pace, the romance is completely cliché, and it horribly abuses logic but when you look back from watching this movie you realize that as a whole it wasn't a total waste of your time. It's one of those movies that you watch on TV because nothing else is on and you have nothing better to do. If you find yourself engaged in this movie and are applying even slight common sense though then you could probably point out about ten plot holes or character inconsistencies within the first five minutes. I was actually surprised by this movie because I figured that it was going to be far worse then it was. But if Boll continues on this path he might one day actually make a good movie.

BloodRayne (2005)
2/10
Typical Boll movie.
7 August 2011
Uwe Boll is regarded as being one of the worst film makers of all time. Having seen a few of his movies (Far Cry, Bloodrayne, Rampage, Final Storm) I can say that although he is a terrible director not all of his movies live up to the awful hype. One of the few movies of him that does though is Bloodrayne. Bloodrayne is sinfully dull, and any interest that could be put into the movie is squashed from it being painful to watch. The only way that you could ever actually see this movie and not fall asleep would be if you made a conscious effort not to fall asleep while watching it. The worst part about this movie is that Uwe Boll actually managed to tarnish the careers of otherwise respectable actors such as Ben Kingsley. Despite some criticisms I also like Michelle Rodriguez and thought she was wasted as well. The worst part about this movie is that it is fairly forgettable as well. So if you hope to watch it to find a unintentionally funny scene or to get any entertainment out of it then keep looking.
