The Wounded 1.0

Gangs vs Cults.

Not for everybody. For its genre, not too shabby.

Starting off, cover alone, hot chicks, guns, anguish (more like constipated), but mostly hot chicks garnered my interest.

Some cool fight scenes. I really, really, really wanted to hate it. But what the hey, surprised - for a No/shoestring budget, how did they get access to a jail? Or a prison bus? Clearly the show runs on its memorable "characters" - I wasn't a big fan of Taka, the overly preachy counselor, but the LSD cult leaders and some of the gang members deserve some props for their standout scenes. Bella, the nekkid cult priestess - thanks for the mammaries for the Hot Tub girl! It didn't bore me compared to others of its genre. Seven stars because it entertained me.

I'm waiting for Wounded 2.0 Plus Zombies.

No, really.

No, really.

Barrio Redemption
22 April 2011
A classic story from the Barrio, and the ascension of struggles.

Survival alone isn't enough. It's all about character, granted it's a long movie, but the Paco, Cruz and Miklo characters are mesmerizing to follow.

Damian Chappa got robbed - whatever happened to the rest of his career? Still going (latest, Vatos Locos). Jesse Borrego, excels as a bad guy character.

And the standouts throughout their careers, Benjamin Bratt, Delroy Lindo, Billy Bob Thornton, Lupe Ontiveros, Danny Trejo. All these people, all that talent, great job.

That's why I remember this film, the characters.

Crying in my soup now...

Not really...

Was going for my Oscar...

Not really.

Tromeo and Juliet 1.0

I gave it a 3 for adaptation effort and another 3 for being the precursor for Waking Dead.

Three for human characters, another three for zombies acting, or were those the Thespians? I meant actors. Were those actors? I'm just so traumatized.

But it was fun, like a car chase, waiting for the accident to happen.

Honestly, there's still working actors from this film. Tiffany Sheppis, still Hot. Ron Jeremy. Enough Said.

We really need a TJ2.

If only for more pop-corn fun.

If we were drunk.

28 Days Later (2002)

For now, 28 days

What can I say? When I'm bored, my default is the horror genre.

I am a fan of this movie simply for the fact that it concentrated on characters and not just the effects.

Most Zombie movies are all C.G.I. effects, scenery. Boundless ammo, knives, cutting tools, and on. And on. The pacing was great. The actors seemed to be cast perfectly.

But, that said, the writers weren't afraid of killing off a favorite. Sympathize too much with one - gone.

Didn't care too much for another - dead zone.

I'm waiting for 28 years later.
