I still can't believe how bad this movie is
26 February 2012
I'm still stunned by how awful this movie is, on about the same level as a low budget TV sitcom. Un-funny, unintelligent, uninteresting. Fey and Carrel will look back on this movie as their biggest professional embarrassment. I realize ensemble cast extravaganzas like this are frequently bad but this movie is so insultingly, unrelentingly poorly written and directed that not even Tina Fey's considerable hotness could keep me from cringing at the lameness of the plot and dialog. Don't even think about 30-Rock or The Office if you're considering watching this movie...think in terms of Fey and Carrel being forced at gunpoint to participate in a movie that was specifically produced by the Al-Qaida to be so unrelentingly lame and uninspired that it would serve to depress and demoralize the American population into unconditional surrender.

Unbelievably bad
29 December 2010
Was really looking forward to seeing this remake of the original Disney animated feature. Although I've grown used to Disney's declining standards of quality, I was completely surprised by the overall crappiness of this movie. The animation is haphazard, the story line is dull and predictable. But worst of all is the constant slapstick antics of every character falling into mud, boinking their heads, tripping on things, etc. About the same quality as 'modern' Saturday morning cartoons, that is to say, not fit for adults or halfway intelligent kids. The voice characterization of Reba McIntire is the only saving grace of the movie. Strongly recommend you pass on this version of Fox and Hound...the original is much, much better.

Finally, a legitimate hot rod movie
28 December 2010
Good storyline, good acting, great hot rods and a very satisfying 1950s "period buzz". Hard to believe such a nice movie was made on a low budget. The cinematography in particular is very high quality, better than 90% of the so called "art films" I've suffered through over the years. I really enjoyed this movie even though it is kind of a chick flick (the primary plot being a love story). But the movie taken as a whole is a very muscular romp though 1950s youth culture and particularly SOCAL hot rod culture. Hollywood should take notice that an independent film about a niche subject that is made with passion and accurate faithfulness will always have an appreciative audience. Hooray for Faith Granger for her dedication to making this movie. Many thousands of hot rodders, rockabilly fans and car buffs have been waiting for this movie to be released. They will not be disappointed.
