Chappaquiddick (2017)
Excellent expose of the corrupt practice of the Kennedy family in both political and personal spheres
While the film for libel reasons has to provide a very bowdlerized version of the "truth" because the fanatical Kennedy/Democratic Party war machine would never allow the full truth to be released in living colour, it allows the thinking public to see clearly through the smoke and mirrors of the KDP machine. The script and the understated acting by the cast are excellent for all the very mild exposure of the KDP machinations before and especially after the "accident" - e.g. matching the "press" coverage at that time it glosses over why the Kennedy staffers were away without their wives at a "strategy" session with numerous nubile young women... only an idiot would have believed that Kennedy was not having an affair with Mary Jo... and why this might have led to the events of the "accident". Essential viewing for anyone who believes there is a single honest lawyer/politician! One point that the film does not delve into deep enough is why Edward Kennedy, along with many of his family, was such an obnoxious, amoral, narcissistic individual - and yet was fawned upon by the gullible public and press. It only skirts some of the glaring background features of the patriarch father Joe Kennedy who pretended to be liberal despite his open fascist support for Hitler before and during the Second World War; his notorious womanising and rampant misogyny - drilled into and repeated by his sons; his absolutely unethical attitude to honesty and the family's fanatical drive for political and financial power at all costs. One feature that few know is that Joe made the huge Kennedy fortune as one of the leaders of a major stockbroker syndicate that illegally manipulated share prices during the 1929 Stock Market Bubble and Crash ... after he made this fortune though highly unethical actions, he had a complete disdain for the "law" and always operated in the correct belief that his family could do any criminal act they liked and then buy their way out if caught.. Buying political power for his children became an obsession, and he certainly would not let the murder of an innocent girl get in his way. That the press turning a blind eye to everything the Kennedy family did is amazing now in hindsight - for example considering the attitude now towards Trump it is still astonishing that Ed Kennedy has not been outed as a murderer.

Amateurish!
I happened across this episode recently and watched it for 10 excruciating minutes. I have no idea why anyone thinks this is a 'superior' series - the so-called acting was non-existent, the 'stage-production' scene was awful, and the pathetic fake crowd screaming applause bizarre. My daughter's Grade 9 modern dance class is far superior to the poor timing shown by the cast (even with ridiculous 5 second editing cuts). These 'actors' and 'producers' get paid for this stuff? I despair if this is what USA TV has fallen to. What is the point of putting a fake character in a wheelchair on the stage? Simply to try to make the episode look twee so that the idiots that watch American Idols watch this rubbish. Compared to the realism of "The Secret Life of American Teenager" this is not even fake entertainment - it should make any intelligent person cringe with horror.
