Top of the Lake (2013)
All 5 stars are for Season One
Season One was great except for Holly Hunter. She was a complete waste of a character. No talent was needed for that role.
Season Two was so incredibly frustrating, annoying, and the characters sucked. I actually hated most of them. It's incredibly hard to watch an entire series when you actually hate the main character. The daughter was also so annoyingly unlikeable. Ugh. It's unlikely and unbelievable that every single character was broken, scarred and neeeded threat. It was way too much and took away from the crime solving.
The Coverup (2008)
Meh.
Bad acting, bad soundtrack, bad directing and bad writing. I love true stories so I should have just stopped watching and either read about this case or found a documentary to watch.
Wasted Talent (2018)
C+
The description of this documentary claims it is examining temptations and struggles of young celebrities on the rise to fame. Um. It focuses on actor Lillo Brancato exclusively. In a nutshell, it mostly focuses on how he got the part in The Bronx Tale, his drug addiction which led to a cop being murdered and how still today New York cops still hate him.
Which is fine because it was an interesting story but after watching the one hour and six minute documentary I googled the story and found out he went to prison for 8 1/2 years and I'm not sure they even told us that part. Maybe it was passively mentioned so I didn't even realize it.
Even though I found the documentary interesting and I enjoyed watching it I'm still not entirely sure what it's supposed to be about. Kind of jumped all over the place and just gave me bits and pieces of random information.
American Crime Story (2016)
Season 2- Versace
Why does Donatella Versace have a Spanish accent? Rhetorical. Poor casting.
Lay the Favorite (2012)
Worst acting!
Even the good/well known actors dumbed to them selves down to be on Rebecca Hall's level. Holy cow. This is the worst acting I have probably ever seen. Rebecca is Hall's voice made my ears bleed. It's hard to believe that her dad was a theater director and her mom was an opera singer and this is what came out.
I'm really surprised the famous actors even agreed to be in this movie.
