Jeepers Creepers 3 (2017)
I don't know what people are talking about?
I liked this movie, I really did. I watched it twice in one sitting. It's really not hard to follow, I like how it takes place in between the first and second movie.
And I'm looking forward to a 4.
Child's Play (2019)
"Child's Play"
It's hard to really get invested when the doll is not even that creepy in this movie. It's just a malfunctioning robot. That's it.
I also didn't like that they leaned into the Stranger Things thing. Can we just have kids without it being the same dynamic of Stranger Things, we're tired of that. All in all I just didn't like the storyline.
Now if they do a sequel and Charles lee ray really does inhabit the body of *this* doll or somebody *then* we're really getting somewhere.
Cult of Chucky (2017)
This is how you kill Chucky
Hm. Uh huh. Okay....
Horror fans get slapped in the face once again with this latest installment of the Chucky franchise.
You know... Don Mancini may have taken the credit for writing all these films... but all his self- directed films makes it seem like he doesn't really care much about Chucky as a character. For some reason he just does not know how to make a real horror film. He didn't direct the first one and that's the only really good one.
I'm not watching any more of these movies unless it gets a reboot. But with the way this movie is, I figure they expected us to say that.
They took the lore and flushed it down the toilet and they just slapped this together they didn't care. Nothing makes sense any more and Chucky's motivation is non-existent, it's not scary.
Chucky has been dismantled. The movie was pretty but Chucky's been dismantled. It'll never be scary again
It (2017)
I can't believe I have to say this about this movie but
The truth about this movie is that it's not scary. All of the content concerning the clown is pretty good but it's another one of those things where you're like "I wish he was in a different movie." Because they went way overboard with the comedy in this. In fact, the reason this is even rated R is not because of anything gruesome or scary. No, not at all. This is rated R because of the language. The movie is littered with d*** jokes and s*** jokes all throughout the entire movie from start to finish.
While the movie is well shot, good soundtrack and great cinematography, the scares that we came for do not deliver! They use every last predictable Hollywood horror cliché in the book for every scare that's not the clown.
And the finale. Okay, so the clown gets clowned. They literally end this clown to the point where the clown is scared of the kids and the kids aren't scared of the clown at all. None of them die by the way. There are no stakes. And yet the movie still tries to setup a sequel. Can you believe that?
Many of these characters I didn't even like. With the main character kinda being an a****** dragging their friends into danger chasing down what they already know is not real. The female character being poorly treated and the psychopathic bully who gets discarded from the film like he was never there in the first place.
No, this movie does not deserve a sequel and I hope it doesn't get one! Stop right where you are!
I may have to stop going to the movies. I really thought this was going to be a good one.
Seed of Chucky (2004)
Help! I'm being accosted!
What a bad film. What a bad, bad film. They basically took a horror film character and made it into a joke. More of a joke than it already was.
This movie includes lines that aren't at all funny, clichés, old hat Hollywood references out of date in just a year. Tiffany and Glen's incessant yelling and nagging. Tiffany had no edge in this movie, she's not who she once was.
And it's way too gross. In fact the movie spends more time, and I believe Tiffany gets more lines that you have to wonder why they even called this a Chucky movie.
The only thing I can say is the soundtrack was good and the cinematography was good. But the script the story, the characters, all of that was pure trash. It wasn't funny, Don. It's just not. It's just camp, uninteresting, unscary and boring. That's why this movie removed these Chucky movie from theaters permanently. It's like you just gave up on the franchise with this one. Such a disservice.
The Boy (2016)
I genuinely liked this and I really would want a sequel
Could have used an alternate ending Everything about this movie from the outset was perfect. The score, the actors, the setup, the premise. In my theater, a lot of the audience vocally responded to what was happening in the movie. But no one could have expected the twist at the end.
Arrival (2016)
Gobbledygook
Let me start off by saying I did walk out on this movie during the final act. Where they start saying how the alien language allowed her to see time backwards. I went into this thinking some of this would actually make sense but none of it did. Even when it came down to the main premise. These aliens are from far into the future. You know, it's not even worth really discussing. I came to see an alien movie not some pseudo philosophical gobbledygook.
Code Lyoko Evolution (2013)
Let me keep this short and sweet
The writer of the series not only quit production, but disowned this season.
This isn't Code Lyoko. That's what she said.
So if SHE didn't consider this Code Lyoko, why the hell would I?
This season really didn't go anywhere. It wasn't dubbed, it really didn't get a lot of air time and you can't buy it on iTunes. It didn't even get picked up by Cartoon Network. Whoever worked on this production, they really didn't know what they were doing. Everything really was wrong. They did it, it's done. And unfortunately, there's nothing to review. Let's just forget this existed.
And let's face it: that's not hard to do!
Code Lyoko Evolution gets a zero out of ten. It spat in the face of the source material.
The series writer said, "This is not Code Lyoko." What else do you want me to say now?
The Cat in the Hat (2003)
I still can't believe this happened
There was a time where they used to see live-action Dr. Seuss films as profitable. Not after this movie though. Because this movie is a turd. And thanks to this turd of a movie, any chance of getting any additional live-action Dr. Seuss adaptations have been flushed right down the toilet. I wanted a live-action Green Eggs and Ham. But now we can't get that. Because of this movie. When they made this movie they didn't care!
The movie is lazy, mean-spirited, not funny in the least. It's nasty... Because of the sexual jokes. It's awkward because all of the actors act awkward, they act uncomfortably and deliver the lines in monotone. And last but not least it's a cash grab. They actually put a plug for Universal Studios in the movie. So all in all this movie was just a failure all across the board. And I'm holding Mike Myers responsible for that. This failure falls at the feet of Mike Myers! It's Mike Myers fault for playing in it... The screenplay writers who wrote this trash. And Universal Pictures for distributing the film.
They destroyed this film.
We will NEVER get another live action Dr. Seuss film now. And that was yall's fault! I'm blaming yall!
Curse of Chucky (2013)
This redeemed the series
Mancini has shown us he's still got it! This movie has the right balance of just about everything you could want in a Chucky film, it's why I own it. And I don't even own any of the other films. Comparing this with Seed of Chucky is like day and night. While Seed of Chucky upset me because of its direction and focus on mainly Tiffany, the gross out black comedy and virtually no scares. I at least appreciated the look of the film, and the soundtrack. It was mostly a parody. But with Curse of Chucky, all is forgiven.
Sales were up, reviews were up. Promotions were up. It has the thrill factor again. The Chucky franchise is back on track.
Curse of Chucky is almost as good as the first entries but it's not perfect. I'm going to give this movie a ding on the animatronics. The puppetry in this film just isn't on par with the earlier films. This has been the case starting with Seed of Chucky, when they switched the companies that did the puppetry.
Chucky is scarier when he isn't moving in this film. The puppetry is very rigid, stilted, robotic, not in a good way. There were some bad shots revealing the limitations of the puppet, which takes you out of it. Imagine a little girl playing make-believe with her Barbie toy and how when the girl is making Barbie talk, she'll bob the doll up and down. That's how the puppetry is at times in this film. Especially in the last two entries. When Chucky talks, the body shakes like a machine or a robot—letting you know it's an animatronic. It's really evident in Seed of Chucky, but less evident in this film. I really hope they can improve that in the coming films so as to make the character more believable like in the first entries. Because that's one of the scariest things about Chucky, is when it comes alive.
I love Chucky's redesigned look that's excellent. They tried to be innovative too by a few new techniques in certain scenes. Allowing Chucky to do things he hasn't been seen doing before. There could've even been a little bit of CGI, but no one can be sure because it's very, very succinct. I don't even know if it's CGI or not.
The only other problem I had with this film is the ending. It nearly drops the ball. Because it doesn't make much sense what is happening in the numerous ending scenes. I believe this may have been done purposely to please audiences and to let them draw their own conclusions. So; altogether this is a very enjoyable film worth my money. I'm ready for some sequels!
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
Batman v Superman? When? Where? I fell asleep and took two restroom breaks.
When it finally got to where Batman and Superman are in the same frame, I already had lost all interest.
They took us far deep down in a rabbit hole. Only in a rabbit hole in Wonderland could you make heads or tails of what was happening in this movie!
The audience was completely quiet and confused for the first hour, after that, it didn't matter anymore the movie just keeps unloading subplot after subplot after subplot not once grounding itself, or settling on a cohesive idea.
Let's put Batman in it! And superman! And a lizard! And Wonder Woman! And a mackerel! And the flash! And doomsday! And nightmare sequences! And antichrist imagery! And a public debate of good vs evil!
And Wonder Woman checking her email. They have Wonder Woman spending most of her time checking her email. And then all of the sudden, she pops up on the scene hopping out from behind a rock like she knows what's going on. Like she has a handle on the situation.
Superman dies in the movie. right in front of Batman and Wonder woman's face. And yet you really don't have anything to say about it because these 3 superheroes act as if they others don't exist. Wonder Woman doesn't have anything to say. She thought she was in her own movie.
Batman was in his own world. They all thought they were in their own separate movies.
Lex Luther apparently hates superman for some reason. Batman and superman fight after only having met one time. Batman says its going to be a fight to the death but stops dead in his tracks at the mention of his mother's name.
I saw a poster for this movie that said "Who Will Win?" When you watch the movie, that premise doesn't present itself. First you are going to watch this eccentric billionaire. You're going to watch this political discussion on the topic of superman. You're going to watch psycho babble about a magic rock. You're going to watch some people debate at church. You're going to watch a scene with somebody spray painting a superman logo. You're going to be taken to see a night party with the discussion about a stolen sword that has nothing to do with the matter at hand. You're going to watch all of Batman's nightmares that crop up periodically and never come to a head. You're going to keep going back to that office for one more conversation about what's in the newspaper. But a batman and superman face off? The movie says *beep* that. That was thrown right out the window. Why does Lex Luther want to take down Superman? Are we ever given any explanation of what he's mumbling about?
And this chaos is a preview of what's to come in this shared DC universe? This movie does not work. This movie is not working. The plot is stupid. The characters are not connected. This isn't just one of those movies with multiple plots. This is a movie that is in uncontained. I heard they started doing reshoot of suicide squad because this movie apparently was too dark that people didn't laugh. You couldn't laugh. You couldn't cry. You could have any emotion to this film because it's too far gone. They're trying to tell a whole bunch of different stories at once and once it's pieced together it doesn't tell a real story at all.
