Army of the Dead (2021)
Very entertaining
A decent action flick with some nice visuals. Loved the zombie horse. Hoping for a sequel.
Carmel: ¿Quién mató a María Marta? (2020)
Yawn, yawn and more yawn
Someone has an accident, family refuses to accept it and surprisingly killer is never found. It is of course sad on many levels, may she rest in peace, but it's hardly interesting to anyone but the family and mayhaps to those who knew this family one way or another. Sometimes the dead should be left to sleep in peace.
Pet Sematary (2019)
An abomination no-one wanted.
In no way is this better than the 89' version and a horrible adaptation of the book, too. Is it worth a watch? If the alternative is watching paint dry then perhaps. What grinded me the most was the stupid motive-explanation by the characters. Hated it.
Game of Thrones: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (2019)
Underwhelming
Did enjoy the first episode of this last season, but this bored me more often than not. They should have focused more on the march of the dead and thrown in the turning of the umbers and left out useless things like some of Arya Starks scenes. Would have been much better. It was like watching some kind of soap series from the 80'.
Ghostbusters (2016)
Ghosts have never been this awkward
I caved in due to my gf wanting to see this. Saw the original in the cinema eons ego and loved it even though scared to bits for a considerable span of years afterwards. I wasn't prepared to be so underwhelmed by this reboot. A promising start faded in to jokes that were embarrassing to watch (cat in the bag dragged out for an embarrassing long time. So did the joke explaining equipment with made-up words. Funny the first time. Not the quassilioneth). It seemed very high-strung as EVERY dialogue had to end in some sort of punch-line. Classic mistake. If everyone is a comedian no-one usually is. It makes every character very flat and sammy. The story was very incoherent in places. All of a sudden the mayor is involved even though only the 4 main-characters have been present at all sightings and not really told anyone? The ghosts themselves are disappointing too and a mixed bag. You get the sense that this movie has a split personality not knowing whether to appeal to adults or children. The overall product is what you get when you merge the original with all the subsequent spin offs like cartoons and such. As such faithful to the overall franchise thus making it an average mess trying to appeal to all. A real shame. The last straw was the dance-scene at the credits. Every movie I've ever seen that had to revert to this kind of happy exit payoff for the audience has been an inferior product. It's very often a telltale of an inferior director when he needs this kind of mechanic. Not recommended and indeed the worst product of the franchise so far.
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)
Entertaining but....
I give it 6 stars.
Very entertaining and quite good at some points. At other times just plain hideous. The two soldiers and two pirates you follow during the movie are absolutely misplaced. They are supposed to add humor but I found their presence really annoying. The humor in the movie is mediocre.
Armageddon (1998)
The worst movie i ever did see
This movie just takes the cake. Really bad story spun over a really bad recipe of "something goes wrong - have to fix it - something goes wrong - have to fix it and so it goes. On and on and on and on and on and.............. the writer on this picture most be the least talented guy in all of Hollywood. He must be (except for those writing x-men 2 - that really sucked too). Stay away from this movie. It has the rare quality of actually making you dumber (like X-men 2).
X2 (2003)
Craptacular
This movie is another pinnacle of bad hollywood-productions. Its actually almost as bad as Armageddon. I give it 1 for decent fx, but thats it. Its basically the same old, worn out recipe, seen so many times before. Bad thing happens. Solve it. Bad thing happens again. Solve it. Everything goes wrong all the time and it has to be fixed in a matter of minutes. The story is lame. Their is no excitement because whatever happens the writer has the ability to create a superpower that will solve the problem. What really amazes me is that people actually vote this one better than the story of Dave Gale. Astounding. A disgusting piece of a craptacular movie. Dont go see it unless you have never seen this kind of movie before.
