She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
She-Hulk is a complete feminist, old tropes nothing new
She hulk is a feminist, I'm not even kidding. Her character makes a point to tell Bruce that he doesn't understand anger because she's been cat called, because a fear of being murdered...' as well as defining how men mansplain to her...' AND in the next scene she's flipped completely saying how much trauma Bruce has been thru, yeah and Hulk was scared to come out in fear of being murdered by Thanos. (So he knows) They gotta drop this oblivious pandering - this is as bad as they come. Let's focus on the story...!
A origin story was quick and very lame. And suddenly she's pretty much she hulk now, fight scenes were edited oddly, Thundra or Titania was dressed like a joke her acting was god awful and I have no comprehension why this Amazon is smashing into a court house... no explanation...
CGI in places with she hulk looks off, on the most part it's pretty good. Very annoying bland character,
The good; Mark Muffolo was great as always.
The bad; poor edit w fight sequences,. 2nd ep is even worse than the 1st! That weird Amazon (Titania) lady is pretty bad too.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Sam Raimi is Gold SPOILERS
This was the perfect movie for Sam Raimi to direct, great throwbacks to evil dead and the demons (deadites!) Well crafted script, entertaining and fits nicely into the continuous over arching script, ie great cameo by 'what if' dr Strange, and Peggy as cpt America and of course Professor X, and the introduction of Reid Richards! All the while exploring the mutilverse which ties nicely into the new villain Khan that will surely be right round the corner. Great direction, script and acting.
What If...? (2021)
Amazing animation and fantastic short stories
First off I have watched 5 episodes, the first ep was decent, but IMO the weakest, still it got me curious to watch the rest. This got progressively better and better. The animation is soo good, kinda wish they did this animation with some of the Star Wars spin offs. Storyline's hold nothing back, and are extremely clever and in some cases shocking to say the least. Dr Strange ep - fantastic, dark twisted tale of how twisted and powerful Dr Strange can become. The ep where the heroes all keep dying - really clever and a great reveal. Zombie ep - wow! Really cut-throat ending was odd but I am assuming there's a sequel... but really engaging and cool to see they took this route. Excited to see the rest, a worthy addition to the marvel universe. My only criticism is that they are very short, other than that I would've given this a 9 (no body gets 10 lol)
Run with the Hunted (2019)
Another great Michael Pitt performance
I enjoyed this film. It was an independant low budget crime story of youth without consequence. Essentially teens that spent their life robbing and holding up people. It was a life that was an escape for Oscar from his abusive father only later to repeat as the movie jumps forward 15 years. Michael Pitt amazes me with his diverse roles and again creates another character that is far removed from himself. He looks damaged, he looks on edge yet has a strange moral compass and a deep down love for his family and those that he holds dear. Ron Pearlman provides a believable performance although perhaps something that we have seen a few times before...
The story didn't overly have a strong plot or a deeper underlying message and certainly no real consequence for the crimes they were all commiting which may of added an interesting element to the movie but was interesting enough as it progressed to make you invested in the characters and enough action to keep you entertained.
Ending (NO SPOILERS HERE) was odd imo as I would like to have know what happened next, but as the director said its the kind of movie where you can go home and think about it and kinda make your own mind up.
Enjoyable ride none the less.
