Joker (2019)
Am I insensitive...!?
With all the hype, drama and outrage surrounding this movie, I expected more from it...
How anyone can get so excited about this movie, is beyond me.
You would have to be either american, a social justice warrior, a millenial, have a victim mentality, a snowflake or just be very easily manipulated to think this movie is outrageous.
It's not a bad movie, but it in no way lives up to all the factors surrounding the movie!
Polar (2019)
A love child...
- between "John Wick", "GTA" and "Valhalla Rising"...
Don't get all the critics, as many reviewers have written before me... Not at all a bad movie.
A little too many "colorfull side caracters"... Rusty deserved better, but I see why the scene was in the movie...
This movie won't make you smarter, but it will kill some time in an entertaining way.
I read that some of the critique was about the violence not being "artsy" enough... I'll bet people saying that haven't seen real violence...
The Martian (2015)
A whole movie...
- consisting of sounds from Matt Damon eating.
I really don't get it why so many people consider this an intelligent movie, whether that says something about my intelligence or the movie is up to you.
I found the movie lacking, and the acting of Matt Damon annoying. Especially the constant sound of him eating something, and I mean CONSTANTLY! Seriously, close your mouth when eating...
I have nothing positive to say about this movie, boring story, bad acting, way too hyped and an utter waste of time.
Watch the Bourne movies instead, if you want some Matt Damon action. If you're looking for sci-fi, there are a lot of much better movies out there!
Doctor Strange (2016)
A hybrid...
If Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes and Inception had a baby... This would be it.
The digital effects are very very good in this movie, some of the best I have ever seen. Cinematic wise it works very well!
When it comes to the story... Well, it had potential... In my, perhaps not so humble, opinion - it's not very good.
It tries to be smarter than it is, with some pseudo sci-ency/mystical angle. And I can't see how the Avengers universe would benefit from more characters than it already has in it... It's bland enough as is, watered out for shareholders benefits.
There are better movies out there, this is just another attempt on milking the old Super Cow.
If you want to watch a good superhero movie, watch Dead Pool!
Don't believe all the Cumberpatch fans that really really wants this movie to work, it doesn't!
Warrior (2011)
Not a movie about MMA...
The fighting in this movie is, as I see it, just a part of the frame the story is told inside.
This is a movie about emotions, dysfunction, men, turmoil, unreleased feelings, closure and a lot of really deep sh**!
One of my all time favorite movies, it taps in to all my own "demons" lurking around deep in my stomach...
If you watch this because of the MMA, you are letting your macho side ruin the deeper levels of this epic movie. Watch some MMA fights on YouTube instead, drink a beer with your BFF, let your anger out.
This movie is made for introspect, self awareness, self exploration etc. - and perhaps some of the women who are perplexed about the men in their life, could learn something about the (at times)toxic mix of emotions and testosterone.
Do yourself a favor, watch this movie!
Special Correspondents (2016)
1h 40m...
- completely wasted!
Ricky Gervais... You had it, you used it, and now it's gone. Not funny at all, not interesting, not special, not eye-opening, not thoughtful, not anything positive to say about it.
Simply put, a really bad movie.
Sorry to say, but it's the truth!
I can't even see the potential in it...
Ricky, you need a Holiday and perhaps a real job to meet some real people... Get some new energy in you... This movie feels like you're burned out.
Eddie the Eagle (2015)
Hugh...
I forgive you for Les Misérables!
The scene with you and Christopher Walken, was some of the best acting I've seen in a long time. I'm in awe, the same intensity of feelings as in 'Warrior (2011)', just shown in such a classy and subtle way. Left me speechless and with tears in my eyes, beautifully done!
Fantastic movie, about a great persona giving the finger to "the man"!
(small spoiler alert) Only critique I have, would be utopia not to be able to put a finger on something, is why on earth did they have to overdramatize the landing from the 90 m. jump? It was spectacular enough in itself!
Eddie the Eagle, one of my childhood idols!
Gods of Egypt (2016)
I'm (almost) speechless...
Nikolaj, Nikolaj... How could you tarnish your reputation with this movie? :-D
The movie had potential, not a bad story, not a bad cast, not a bad cgi team etc. Problem is, it just doesn't work in this case.
There is so much cgi in this movie, so the acting suffers from Star Wars I-III syndrome. The story is actually not bad, for a "fantasy action" movie. Unfortunately, Gerard Butler speaking with his thick Scottish accent as an Egyptian God, diverted my focus from the story. Don't get me wrong, he's not a bad actor per se. But a Scottish speaking Egyptian God...!? At some points in the movie, it felt a lot like watching a sequel to 300. Yeah, that's actually perhaps the best advice I can give...
If you liked 300, you will probably like this movie!
(Gorgeous women in it too!!!)
Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
Bane is back?
This movie had everything going for it, but where is the soul of it? It's beautifully filmed, very cinematic, the action is not too shabby, cool explosions, great cast of actors, insane "univers" etc... But to be honest, I just don't feel it...
Tom Hardy is using his Bane character again, wearing a weird face mask and using a weird voice again...
Charlize Theron isn't really performing great in this either, a bit boring to be honest...
That zombie-boy, I can't remember his name, not a great cast for this movie...
That big bald guy, the evil "Valhalla-crazy" boss' right hand, is overacting like crazy - and he's just too visual in the scenes he's in...
The Whole "woman-power-reunion-scene" in the desert, seems like a bad play where everyone is thinking more about where to stand on the stage than about what they are suppose to portrait...
The list could go on...
To sum it up, a great movie potential wasted!
Give an Oscar to the film-crew, it's a beautiful and very cinematic film!
The director, fire him and kick him out of Hollywood...
This movie is hyped, so they will still make their money. Shame on them!
Jupiter Ascending (2015)
Seriously?
Besides the CGI, there is absolutely nothing good to say about this movie... Horrible acting, simply horrible! Redmayne in particular, seriously man - you clearly have no evil genius inside, I hope you stay away from playing the bad-guy again... Not as bad as the guy playing Darth Vader in the latest Star Wars, but damn close! But to be honest, all of the acting in this movie is just plain awful... The story is bad, even though the potential is there... Mah, I can't say anything good about this movie... One of the worst ones out of 2015 so far!
If you enjoy movies made for teenage girls, then maybe this is for you!?
Muck (2015)
T and a...
One star for the t's, one star for the a's...
A bad attempt on making a slasher movie in my opinion. There is a lot of blood, beautiful women showing of their bodies, smart-ass one-liners and a wide array of weapons being used. But the acting, directing, writing etc. is really poorly executed. It's not provoking, it's not scary, it's not erotic, it's not exciting, it's not worth one hour and 38 minutes of your life!
If you're looking for a slasher movie, there are many better ones out there... And it doesn't even help to watch it as a B-movie, it's not even worthy of a letter from the alphabet...
Interstellar (2014)
Hmmm, a bit unsure...
This movie is hard for me to do a review on, since the hype also caught me and I enjoyed the movie and the ideas/theories behind it when I watched it... But here a couple of weeks later, it seems overrated and to be frank a bit pious to me. There is just something about the movie that seems off to me, the acting, the ideas, the message... Hard for me to put my finger on, perhaps it feels (to me) just like another movie with this "New World Energy Message" plot that Hollywood and people like Echardt Tolle is making a lot of money on.
To boil it down, it's not a bad movie - just don't start analyzing it :-)
The King of Kong (2007)
Bottled up emotions and persona's...
One of the best documentaries I have ever seen, the tension, drama and betrayal is so thick you could cut it with a knife... - and all from within something as banal as the world of arcade-games.
There are so many brilliant characters in it, all with their Black and White sides, and especially the soul-searching/personal growth some of these Guys goes through during the movie is amazingly portrayed.
Whether or not it shows a complete Picture of the persons in it or not, I can't tell since I have never met them or heard about them before watching this movie today... - but it sure is filmed/edited to perfection, I would call it a "drama-mentury" with an "evil king", all his disciples basing their own identities on the king's achievements, the underdog fighting for the throne and all of his Allies helping him for their own reasons, and all the entanglement it brings with it.
Damn good movie!
- and great comments from the daughter of Steve Wiebe (wee-bee), she sees everything much clearer and pragmatic than most of the adults in this master-piece.
My 5 cents, hope it encourages you to see the movie :-)
Les Misérables (2012)
Horrible!
Besides "The Love Guru" by Mike Myers, this is by far the worst movie I have ever seen... It is truly miserable, and therefor lives up to it's name - sadly... Oh Dear God, please slit my wrists and let me bleed to death quickly...
It's movies like this one, that makes people download illegally before buying the movies themselves.
It has scarred me for life!
Seriously, The Gladiator himself, sounding like a hung cat... Wolverine himself, should change his name to Margerine for his performance... Borat, in a musical?
I would rather gouge out my own eyes with a wooden spoon, and cut off my ears with a dull swiss-army-knife, than to ever witness such horrors as this bloody movies was/is.
It is horrible, trust me...
