If You Wish Upon Me (2022)
So Good
Such a good drama. Of course I started to see the drama because of Ji Chang-Wook who, in my opinion, has the prettiest smile of all the Korean actors. I love all dramas he is in and would watch every one.
I was hesitant at the beginning because I do not like to cry in movies or dramas but, although I did cry in almost every episode at the beginning, I stayed with it. So happy I did. The drama develops into peoples' life and co-workers relationships. Some mystery, love and bad vs. Good people.
I like Sooyoungs' character in the drama, saying what she thinks and acting upon it as an adult. She fights for what she wants and I like it. Not dragging misunderstandings for too many episodes is a plus.
But my biggest pleasure was Sung Dong-Il. In this drama is is excellent. I saw him in many other dramas but I think he is the best in this one.
A must see drama.
Naui Haebangilji (2022)
so so slow
I like all actors. All of them are acting perfectly their role. I really don't know what say about the drama. On one hand it is so slow that not much is happening at all and yet I cannot stop watching. After watching so many Korean dramas where relationships are so hard to get, this drama shows the struggling of men and women in finding meaningful and long lasting relationships. Is it so hard to find love in S. Korea? I wonder.
Nagwonui bam (2020)
enjoyed the movie very much
Excellent movie. Good actors. Nothing much to say but watch it.
Daleui Ddeuneun Gang (2021)
sad to see Ji Soo not in it
I have not watched the series yet but I surely will once its completed (can't wait every week). But I wanted to talk about the replacement of the male lead actor Ji Soo. It looks as if people awoken from a deep sleep and decided now after he stared in numerus series for the past 8 years to talk of their hurt from him bulling them at school. Why now? Why not before? Does he have more money now? I understand what he did is wrong and he should pay for it in one way or another, but preventing bulling starts from home, and school. And from what I see, The school and society is much to blame as well.
Penteuhauseu (2020)
Please STOP the screaming
I only saw 2 episodes so far and had to take a break. SO MUCH SCREAMING. The women are screaming, the girls are screaming, the men are screaming, Put them on Valium (calming drug) already. The story is good, besides the hysteria depicted in the series the acting is good although overly done sometimes. From comments I read it calms down and the story gets more interesting. Can't wait.
I will rate it when I finish the season....
So, I have finished season 1 long ago. I liked it because of the drama. As much as I liked the drama, I hated the cruelty of the people in power. Their justification for abusing, and putting down people is really boiling my blood. No wonder we hear of actors who were abusers in their youth and now have to pay the price. I have watched many Korean dramas and abuse of students by other students and teachers, workers, women, females or males' seams to be common. Is it?
Sasaenghwal (2020)
not so good
I didn't like the acting of the leading actress, Seohyun. Fake. Maybe it me but she is too thin. She could hardly stand on her feet. I did like Kyung-pyo Go who played her husband.
Alhambeura Goongjeonui Chooeok (2018)
bad bad ending
I enjoyed the show up to the 13th ep. It was downhill from there. I would give 10/10 for the idea. 3/10 for the romance. there was NO chemistry between the mail leaders although both did a great job. But the ending.....horrible.
True History of the Kelly Gang (2019)
Did not like it.
Bizarre and twisted. I did not like the movie at all. The cruelty of a mother, the sexually perverts- wasn't for me.
Aseudal Yeondaegi (2019)
fun to watch
It is my first Korean drama. The story, the plot, the acting and the drama are over the top exaggerations, and yet I cannot stop watching. I really enjoy it.
This was when i finished episode 5.
Now after watching the whole series I think I am hooked on Korean dramas. It did not disappoint until the last episode. On the contrary. With each episode the characters grew on me some with their good acting, pleasant on the eye, or even the ridiculousness of some of the actors. I will not say anything about the end- but they left us with a cliffhanger, so there must be more seasons...
The Spy Who Fell to Earth (2019)
Greedy Ahron Bregman
To be famous blinded Ahron Bregman who exposed Marwan. It is on him that Ashraf Marwan is dead. I hope he will not have a peaceful day the rest of his life.
Gemini Man (2019)
Loved It!
No brainer movie. Fun to watch, stunts are great, and acting is good. You don't need more in an action movie. It's not Shakespeare so for that it was perfect.
9-1-1 (2018)
I love the show
It took me a while to start watching the show just because i come from the field. But, after watching some episodes i was hooked. I know it is not as in real life but the show is entertaining, fun to watch most of the caracters are likable. So it is not 100% accurate, so what? for me it is great, and i give it 10 points.
Wild Bill (2019)
I like it so far
I am neither American nor British and for me it is funny to see the integration between them. I did not watch the 3 episodes yet but I glanced at the first episode and liked it. I am excited to watch them and if all episodes are like the minute (here and there) that I watched then I am in. It is funny, with English humor and the American sarcasm.
The Bay (2019)
Excellent!
I binged on the show. Couldn't stop watching. Some of the reviewers complained about the accent, or not being as good as Broadchurch. About the accent...put subtitles as I did. And about comparing to Broadchurch, I think it was as good. Why compare? Just enjoy a show. Nothing is new under the horizon, but the story was good, characters were believable and had a bit of enjoyment to know that even in a police family it can happen....
Watch it! It is good!
Chimerica (2019)
Bad journalist
Bad journalist
I have read all reviews for this mini-series. Some I agree with and some are just odd. The first thing you read on the screen is that it is a fiction story about a true event. What bothered me the most is the stupidity of the journalist who selfishly put everyone in danger, and not learning from his mistakes. Call it naïve, or just being American, this journalist is so reckless that I really don't know how he managed to get into Syria or china at that time and survive.
Overall, I liked the story. I believe the oppression in china is worse than what we have seen in the series. And about the Chinese speaking the Chinese, well, for me it was perfect because I don't speak the language.
Cold Pursuit (2019)
loved it
Wathced it last week. Any movie with Liam Neeson is a must see and this one did not dissapoint. The movie is funny (as weird as it sound when it involves killing), sensetive and the truth be told, if someone did that to my boy I wish hade the courage and ability to do the same. I recommend the movie.
Bad Mothers (2019)
Enjoyed it. Excellent
Judging from the first episode, I like it. I read the other reviews comparing it to Big Little Lies. Don't! It has the same elements but it can be a stand-alone series. Many series have the same - cheating, friends, husbands, murder etc. SO WHAT. There is nothing new under the sun in subjects like these. Many of the best series in the past years are bought and adjusted to the native country of showing like, to name a few- "Homeland"... the hit show originated as Israel's "Prisoners of War." "The Office" in the USA originated from the British original series, "Ugly Betty" ...originated in Colombia as "Yo Soy Betty, La Fea." All in the Family" ...started in Britain's "Till Death Us Do Part." And so on and on. And I am not talking about the reality shows that are being made almost the same in other countries accommodating them to the present showing country.
So stop with the comparison.
The acting is good, the characters are likeable, the settings are clean and beautiful. I will definitely recommend this series. I love it so far.
Fauda (2015)
very good! Recommend it!
Reading some of the reviews I have noticed that those who sympathize with the Arabs hated the series and those who sympathize with Israel or don't know much about the conflict loved the show. Knowing a lot about the conflict, I can say that the series is a little bit GENTLE to what really happens in real life. The conflict is deeper and unfortunately will not be solved in my lifetime or (in my opinion) ever. However, the show gives a semi-realistic glimpse of what happens in the area. The actors are authentic, raw, and some of them have lived it in real life during their military service.
I loved it! The acting is great, the filming is good and can't wait for the 3rd season that is now being filmed.
Magnum P.I. (2018)
Entertaining and fun
Stop comparing this to the old Magnnum P.I.
It took me a while to start watching the series mainly because it's a re-do of a successful series. But, very soon I got over it and enjoyed it not only because its good but because it doesn't resemble the old series as much as I thought. The series is good and for 42 minutes I have fun. That's all you need from a series.
All American (2018)
12 minutes into the first episode and i am hooked.
Love it. i hope it will keep going the way it started.
Castle Rock (2018)
not sure yet
On purpose this review comes after watching the first episode. It kept me interested and I want to watch more. I don't mind a dragged series as long as the end is clear. I can't understand those who give 10/10 after one episode. Many have stated that it starts good and then it is just getting confusing with a no clear ending. I will wait for my vote until the end.
You Were Never Really Here (2017)
good acting, bad and disturbing movie
Let me say what I liked about the movie. The acting was very good. Joaquin Phoenix was convincing portraying a disturbed veteran and child abused. The kidnaped girl Nina was very good as well and I was really worried what this roll would do to her future mental state. The storyline was interesting although we have seen movies about the subject. What I didn't like about the movie were the undeveloped characters. we have glimpses from Joe's past but never seen the conclusion to what happened to his father. The movie was too slow. 2 stars for the acting.
Red Sparrow (2018)
Excellent!
Excellent!
I enjoyed this movie a lot.
I love spy movies. Movies about Russian spies and what they have to do to keep mother Russia happy always makes me count my blessings that I am not Russian.
Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments (2016)
bad
I LOVED THE BOOKS. even more than the Twilight series (which i loved a lot). Anything Cassandra Clare writes I read. So i was excited when the movie came out only to be disappointed from the execution. There are so many details in the book that the movie skipped that for me were the heart of the book. Needles to say, I was excited to see that a series is coming out. I think that it would have been better to leave all the advanced technology out!!! The book is about paranormal and magical creatures, (like in Harry Potter) that are raw and ancient and that what i wanted to see. I suggest the writers of the series to go back and read the books again and be true to them. Millions of readers are not wrong. Give us the books in pictures.
