The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

Gave it a try, but couldn't watch it

I had not seen this movie as a kid as it looked too scary and weird back then, so I tried watching it now with my 10 y.o. Daughter.

I had some hopes for this movie knowing everyone around thrilled, but it turned out to be a huge letdown to us. It's difficult to decide what was worse - the irritating singing, the absence of a coherent plot, or the lack of meaningful dialogue. The overall action of the movie was so annoying that we had to give up after just 20 minutes and it left us with a deeply unsettling feeling of disgust.

While I understand that everyone has their own taste in movies, this one left us a bitter aftertaste due to its shortcomings.

Holy Family (2022–2023)

A bit weird but enjoyable

I find that this movie has an unconventional narrative structure, marked by abrupt or blunt transitions between present and past actions that seem a bit awkward. What truly stands out is the acting, especially Najwa's who is incredible. Even if the characters have an exaggerated, overly-dramatic role, in my view it only adds-up to the story construction.

I consider the scenography was quite interesting too, with meticulously crafted sets, attention to details, well-thought camera angles and the music chosen complemented nicely the scenes, enhancing the dramatism or emotional impact.

I fear it will be difficult though for the second season to rise to the same level, but I look forward to it.

An Astrological Guide for Broken Hearts (2021–2022)

Very cute romantic comedy

I did not have much expectations for this show, but it caught me really fast and really enjoyed watching it. It is an easy soapy movie, but very very cute.

Lupin (2021– )

Pretty nice movie

I would've normally rated this movie an ~8, but here's a 10 to counterbalance the wave of critics. I have binged-watched it, in French, and it is a nice movie and very well presented. I believe it might be losing a bit of the substance in English, else I don't see why so many rated it with 1...

It could've been great...

I really enjoyed the first two seasons despite some lack of screenplay here and there. The movie had a great potential and nice plot and overall the first 2 seasons were nice. However though it lost me at the 3rd one mainly due to the departure of half of the main actors.
