Alien: Covenant (2017)
this is horror
I loved this film, I think it was a tribute to the designs of HR Geiger. Whoever designed the Neos, Xenos, Creators, was really talented.. The things they can do with special effects these days are awesome.. The crew were a bunch of idiots, but this is horror. so I can take the lack of human intelligence in this film with a grain of salt, because the horror aspect was awesome... Fassbenders Acting was superb, and this film answered a lot of questions as to the mystery petri dish from Prometheus, and the whole origin of the Aliens. I left the film feeling philosiphical, and with a sick and twisted feeling. I know now some nerd is giving me the MEHddle finger but so what.
Blood Car (2007)
funny low budget horror
I thought this movie came off as a little amateurish, but the premise and the humor was quite interesting. The T and A and sex jokes would make a Troma films fan want to watch the first half of this film. My Complaints are NOT ENOUGH GORE!!! If there is a blender in the trunk that turns people into fuel, show a little bit more of the blender in action, and the government guys stalking the main character, are idiots.. terrible acting.. and the main thing was some inappropriate scenes (2) involving children and firearms towards the end... I love the horror genre, but watching suits shoot kids in the head, complete with blood and brains spray leaves a terrible taste in the mouth, even with Tabasco pop corn on my lap, it could have been implied without the actual gunshot and brain spray. ... would have been a 5 but instead a 4!
Cthulhu (2007)
thoroughly enjoyable indy horror
I thought this film was thoroughly enjoyable. The Camera work is spectacular, highlighting the picturesque and natural beauty of the Oregon coast. The main character is Gay, but there isn't a this is a film for gay people feel to it. There is a delightful American Gothic feel to the whole first half of the movie without a bunch of predictable crap and basic horror genre plot lines. The one thing that really sucks is NO Monster... At least a tentacle or something would have been appreciated. But I love the stories of Lovecraft, unfortunately judging from the horrible profits this movie made, I don't think there will be a sequel.
The Doors (1991)
this movie changed my life!
this movie changed my life.... I being born much after the epoch of the Doors or in fact the whole psychedelic generation was gifted by such a fantastic movie that far outlives all the other attempts at cinematic brilliance of the time period..... wow I found some LSD and I ate it... and I loved the Doors!!! I love everything about this movie! It is Val Kilmers Opus Rex, It is Oliver Stone's Citizen Kane of the 60's... Jim Morrison was and will remain an enigma of that generation!!! His current tax woes make me want to scream "FUCK IT MOVE TO France" and let us start a secret society of Doors fanatics and American expatriats.
