The Charnel House (2016)
Kinda like THE SHINING
I really didn't know what to expect going into this especially with low score but have to admit I was pleasantly surprised.
This movie is GREAT!
Great performances by all cast members. Erik Laray Harvey from "Luke Cage" is awesome in this along with Callum Blue who was phenomenal! What I liked about it was there wasn't the gratuitous gore and in your face bloody slasher stuff. It felt like a more polished sophisticated film that I hadn't seen in a long time.
This movie is super suspenseful with some very creepy moments with a terrific twist in the end. If you like the suspense/thriller genre I would def recommend.
Bad Ass 2: Bad Asses (2014)
Great Action Comedy
I enjoyed the first one but really didn't know what to expect with the second one... but sure enough it delivered and it delivered hard. One of the better action comedies I've seen in a long time. Good story, well choreographed action scenes and solid cast but most of all this movie had heart. Trejo and Glover are hilarious together. What I love best is that this movie doesn't take itself seriously as it takes a page out of some of the great '80's action comedies complete with tongue in cheek one liners. Loved that they cast Jonathan Lipnicki ("Jerry Maguire") and the addition of Loni Love takes the comedy to a whole other level. Was very excited to hear that they're making a third installment of the film with third Bad Ass John Amos. "Expendables" got nothing on this movie.
The 41-Year-Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall and Felt Superbad About It (2010)
Funny Spoof
I'm usually not a fan of parodies but this one had me laughing pretty damn hard. As dumb and brainless as these movies usually are this one somehow was able to maintain consistent comedy throughout which made it fun to watch and reminiscent of the great parodies that came out in the 70's and 80's (Airplane etc) Kudos to the producers on casting..it was truly amazing how these characters looked like the cast in Apatow's films..especially the guy who played Jonah Hill..ridiculous how much he looked like him. Besides the the cast and great set pieces a lot of the original music in this was really funny. Although the film was raunchy and pushed the proverbial envelope, it seemed to have some heart..well at least as much you can have in a movie like this. The dude from Madtv and THE HANGOVER played the Steve carrell character pretty well while the young Indian lady from GHOSTS OF GIRLFRIENDS PAST was very funny and looked pretty damn hot in her UFC outfit. If you enjoy spoofs than this is one you gotta check out.
