I'm Not Like That No More (2010)
never knew it even existed - Not bad
Since we are dealing with Covid -19 it's easy to appreciate things you took for granted while watching the film. I think watching this movie years after it came out helps dismiss any blunders in the film and appreciate the movie for what it is.
Felipe does use a lot of his old sketches from his stand up so there's not much surprises, but anything else is funny enough. Given that he's solidified himself over the years, any harsh criticism is forgivable.
Perhaps I might have been a harsher critic before the pre covid world but it's a surprise treat like a last bag of flaming Cheetos you didn't know were still in the pantry.
Tales from the Hood 2 (2018)
Definitely entertaining - what were you expecting
I love the tales from the hood franchise. If your were looking to be entertained then that's exactly what your getting from this movie. The political correctness and expectation these days is ridiculous. This movie is intended to be over the top, and outrageous with some satirical humor. Don't expect to see some academy award winning performance or production. This kind of film is meant to send their message across without shoving it down your throat or throwing it in your face.
This franchise resembles entertainment like the show : tales from the crypt; movies like Snoops hood of horror or the movie Tales from the barrio.
Puerto Ricans in Paris (2015)
Something different
Of course you can't expect t it to be on the same level as a blockbuster comedy film but it's something different and it has Luis Guzman, He's a fun guy all around. There were parts that could have been funnier, and it looks like they were trying to be funny but perhaps the script didn't work out that way. Really glad to see a guilty pleasure film made.
The beginning of the film starts out appealing, it looks like it's going to be outrageous but doesn't quite get there. It had some moments that made you smile and even laugh. Can't say it quite made you laugh until you cried but enough to keep you engaged. not too familiar with the director Ian. The production looks like it had good quality video editing. It had some good name actors: Rosie Perez, Rosario Dawson, and Luis Guzman. I definitely would like to see more guilty pleasure movies like these.
CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story (2013)
The movie was just that! On the TLC Tip
The TLC story was a perfect made to T.V movie. I think I was more excited about this movie than my girlfriend. We both were hanging around and waiting for the movie to premier. I loved TLC growing up just because they were the "It" group at the time breaking all types of barriers. Both guys and girls were into TLC. There Genre was after political hip-hop and right before gangsta rap, so it didn't matter who you were, TLC was a group you wanted to here at the time.
The movie was well produced and great story writing. everything we wanted to know about TLC that we didn't know was covered. I enjoyed the way all the characters were portrayed. Lil' momma did an excellent job portraying Lisa (left Eye) Lopes and her extremely charismatic ways. In my opinion it would take someone with real talent who did not have to try to hard to imitate left eye and someone who was not going to underact either. Lil' momma was the ideal actor.
Pebbles was portrayed as the antagonist and I think that in order to tell their story precisely, they had to make sure pebbles was portrayed as accurate as possible, despite her allegations of slander.
In all, I think this was a fun movie to watch and it hits close to home especially if you grew up right around the time they were blowing up in the music industry. They told their story without going overboard and sharing the most important highlights of their life and turning points. I think Lisa (left eye) lopes would be proud.
