The Interest of Love (2022)
Ugh!
This might be the worst K-drama I can't stop watching, desperately hoping the story will make sense or the characters will start thinking and behaving rationally. The female lead has one blank expression, acts irrationally and frankly treats the male lead (who seems like a decent, sensitive guy) like utter garbage. This is basically as asinine as Gossip Girl except with GG you expect a level of craziness. On top of all the nonsense, there's also the "clingy girl who desperately latches onto the guy" trope...can we please move on from this poor representation of women? I'm hopeful the last few episodes will redeem this dumpster fire of a story and characters.
Harry & Meghan (2022)
Really Inspiring!
Wow! I'm glad I ignored the reviews because this was really well done and incredibly informative! I had assumed the tabloid fodder was absolute rubbish that only stood to continue a racist and outdated institution. In a way, Meghan's experiences (and Harry's decision to leave) have been the ultimate power move in standing up for injustice, prejudice and hatred. This documentary was very well done, incredibly moving and really humanized this couple within the very real struggles they endured to uphold the royal institution. Ignore the reviews and watch it - if you think about it, anyone could become a victim of this type of hatred spread through the media, social or otherwise.

Good All Around
Ro Woon is really the star here in what might be the best male lead character in the K-drama universe. The secondary characters are also incredibly heartwarming despite the usual drama cliches (e.g., the controlling girlfriend, tedious mother, etc.). This is definitely a very realistic storyline that includes the hardships and sacrifices one makes for love. Ro Woon is incredibly warm and caring as the lead, and adds charming humor as he falls more in love with Song-ah, who is very practical and skeptical before realizing how amazing he is. By the end, all of the characters have a satisfying conclusion to their stories.
If you're looking for something more serious than Hometown Cha Cha Cha but less heartbreaking than Crash Landing, this is perfect.

Nuanced Drama, Frustrating at Times
This is a really lovely K-Drama with nuanced plotlines including ageism, sexism, and tradition. I found myself incredibly frustrated at times but then remembered being young and my parents disapproving of a lover due to socioeconomic status - what I thought was perhaps a Korean societal expectation was in fact more universal. In many ways the series is much more than a romance as you feel invested in the characters and their growth (some of the characters grow throughout) and proud when they stand up for their desires. The repetitive soundtrack is tedious at times but also helps to transition into the more romantic scenes. Overall, I really enjoyed this series.
Behind Her Eyes (2021)
Intriguing but...
This was definitely an intriguing and interesting mystery reminiscent of some of the foreign series Netflix has produced that interweave characters, motives and time. But, the ending brings up more questions than answers. Perhaps a second viewing knowing how it ends will pull together the missing pieces, like is really plausible for Rob to have turned on his best friend out of lust? Eh. Or that a trained psychiatrist wouldn't eventually realize something was drastically different about his lover? I think an ending where Adele ended up having killed her parents, killing Rob, and eventually spiraling into madness would have made the entire story more believable and feel complete given the ending. Overall, an interesting series to binge during a pandemic or snow storm.
You (2018)
Kind of Brilliant
This show is very enticing - Penn Badgeley is excellent. The characters are all horrible, but you somehow feel sympathy for Joe despite his awful behavior. Joe is creepy AF and Badgeley plays the part perfectly. Definitely recommend for a weekend binge.
American Horror Story: The Morning After (2018)
Utter Piss
Overall very disappointed with the lack of plot development and an intriguing story.
