Very deep and meaningful short movie, produced to perfection
5 May 2022
While fans of Epic NPC Man will easily love this, it is actually very relatable even for people with basic knowledge of gaming. The story while simple, encompasses deep emotions. Overcoming your routines to discover true life, straying from your path and gambling on someone that brings new meaning to whoever you are. It is so balanced and well played, it leaves you wanting more but with a smile on your face!

Worthless milking
27 December 2021
Basically every character in this joke of an origins story is either incredibly stupid or incredibly lucky. At one point zombies are shot 3 times and can't be moved back, then a girl pushes one and it stumbles like a ragged doll? Feeble attempt at a horror movie that brings absolutely nothing to the franchise!

A Guy Ritchie-wannabe director who tries too hard
25 August 2021
This is not a bad movie by all means as it is pretty easy to watch and digest but the story is so flat and predictable and the motivations behind anything happening are so transparent, that at one point you just want it to end already. Great acting here and there and Travis Fimmel is amazing but apart from that, it feels way too shallow to get close to a Snatch or Two Smoking Barrels.

Looks like a project of first year students, shot with a phone
17 July 2021
This is without a doubt one of the worst movies I have seen with some sort of Hollywood has-been in it. The acting is so bad, it looks like some sort of student project. The scenes are totally detached from one another and the entire thing makes little to no sense. Bruce Willis appears out of nowhere, then is absent for 10 minutes, then reappears as if he's been waiting behind camera. The dialogue is atrocious and makes one wonder if whoever wrote it is sane or lives in a cabin in the woods without any real contact with other human beings. The direction can give headaches even to a roller-coaster enthusiast!

Doctor Who: Orphan 55 (2020)
Season 12, Episode 3

Not as bad as the previous episodes but shallow
15 January 2020
OK, let me say I really hated season 11 and the first two episodes of season 12, but this one, for all the shallowness and predictability, is actually a return to the very first season in terms of fun. It is interesting enough to keep you watching, which says a lot given how bad the previous two were. Unfortunately, there are a ton of characters around the Doctor whom nobody will care about or can relate to, but at least there is some depth here ant there!

Good action movie, lovely effects, totally underdeveloped
25 October 2019
It's a shame that people who make Terminator movies refuse to listen to what fans want to see. T2 was great not because of its CGI or action, but because of the depth of characters and darkness of the storyline. Dark Fate is much better attempt than Genisys, or at least not as obviously repetitive, but they turned it into nothing more than an action movie. Sure, all the huge stunts and amazing effects are cool and the REV-9 is one amazing killer-machine, but there is no depth whatsoever and one can't help but feel let down and wanting to see much more about the actual characters story. It's still a decent entry into the Terminator universe and fans should enjoy it. It is easy to watch too.

Great movie, horrible story and even worse ending to it!
1 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Don't get me wrong, the movie is actually solid in terms of acting and special effects, being it way too long. The big issue here is that 'Infinity War' raised the bar so high, this is just an unworthy sequel. In three hours of movie, you actually get some credible story for no more than 10 minutes. The time-travel solution always looked likely but how it developed was way too predictable. There are way too many plot holes and easy way outs for the story to actually go where it is supposed to go. Some of the heroes are conveniently placed in certain situations out of nowhere and the impending happy ending is always pretty clear to whoever puts some thought rather than just trying to be entertained! I would not watch this again, probably never, unlike 'Infinity War'.

Robin Hood (2018)

Horrific adaptation of a classic English story
23 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
In all honesty, I had some expectations as this was presented to be an origins story. It is nothing of the sort, just grabbing a pair of well-known and loved characters and throwing them into a cliche of a story. It is chaotic, badly staged and the costumes are more 1980s than Robin Hood. I could never understand how and why the sheriff is wearing some sort of wild hog jacket and who on Earth believe this kind of artificial leather could be made in the middle ages. Anyways, the action is decent enough for one who enjoys some quick kills, but apart from that the story is nonexistent.

Horrible from start to finish
20 December 2018
No need to trashtalk the direction or the acting as they are mediocre enough anyways. The entire story is very shallowly presented and even awkward at times. My biggest issue with this is the actual casting. In a feeble attempt to be politically correct (I guess), they have cast a black Zeus and Achilles, which is plain insulting to the history of Troy and mytology as a whole. It would have been justified if the actors were actually any good, but this is just laughable.

Terrible, just plain pointless!
14 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
In all honesty, I watched this because I thought it would be something dark, but it was just pointless and ridiculous from start to finish. To begin with, there is no actual problem or issue it deals with. Two girls literally raped a family man and they punished him for being unfaithful, killing a guy en route and then just leaving. If in the end something actually happened, maybe this would have had some sort of value, but it just ended without any notice, without them even killing him too. It is utterly disrespectful to viewers and have I paid for watching it, I would have asked for my money back. Acting-wise, the two girls are doing a good job of portraying anti-social behaviour but as they had no grand plan, the entire thing was just...blah. Keanu Reeves was ok as a family man, but he started to look pathetic near the end. Nothing more to say, just don't waste your time with this...nothing and I mean nothing really happens.

This is...wow, just wow!
12 August 2015
I am a huge fan of quality European cinema as it is always miles ahead of the easily digestible Hollywood crap we are being fed but I never expected an Austrian production to deliver on so many levels. I consider this to be wrongly labelled as horror when it is actually pure form of cinematic art from start to finish that just can't be attributed to a single genre. The direction and manner in which all scenes are shot is simply mind-blowing and the acting facilitates the conveying of the message completely. Those long and very intense shots of the two boys practically deprived of emotion faces are absolute highlight of the entire experience and while in the beginning I was not sure the boys were actually acting or simply had no idea what they were doing, near the end when some more dialogue is present, they do show the brilliance of having fulfilled the part to perfection. As for the plot and the twist, I just love when trailers do not give away anything of the actual story but still manage to attract viewers. I was certain this could go in the good/evil, devil/God line based on the trailer, but it was totally different experience with emphasis on purely earthly emotions, the effect of loss on children/parents and the psychology of family coherence or lack of such. I will throw in an advice to those who have not seen it but plan to do so - do not try to think too much as you might actually spot the potential twist in the very first few minutes. If the direction and scene composition manage to distract you enough, you will be shocked at the end!

This is one of the dumbest reboots!
8 August 2015
Not that the previous attempt to bring Fantastic 4 to the big screen was spectacular but this one is by far ten times worse for a variety of reasons. First of all, it has very little to do with the comics, the animated series or anything remotely related to Fantastic 4's success from the past. The cast is atrocious and not because they aren't good actors but because they are totally unsuitable to play those characters. This equals an attempt to make Batman into a teenager and I am sure even that would work better. Lastly, those reboots of something that did not work too well before seem a real desperation move by whoever was stupid enough to invest in them. Give it a few years or just go the Batman way of darkness.

Exceptional piece of pure European art!
15 February 2015
No disrespect to the Hollywood holiday crap, but that kind of masterpiece would have never been made in the US and that's the beauty of European cinema. The moment I saw certificate 15 on a movie with little kid on the poster, supposedly about Christmas, I was intrigued and it delivered from start to finish. You won't find the commercial "Coca Cola" Santa in this and you won't get any heart-warming family crap about Christmas - it is dark, intense and full of emotion piece of art that can only be made outside the US. Of course one should not show it to their 7-8 year olds, but while it is being described as a horror by some, it is more of a thriller type of movie, closer to Orphan than Hostel. The acting is superb and Onni Tommila leads a small but exceptionally committed cast, directed to perfection.

Shockingly dull!
14 February 2015
To be honest, I never have high expectations of movies that generate so much hype before anyone even saw them, but sure I was curious to see what this is all about. I was stupid enough to think US producers finally came to terms with sexual topics but then again, it doesn't get any more dull than that. The acting and the entire cast are into this and they are trying their best to deliver some sort of performance, but the script is so shallow and the dialog so cheesy that I wonder how many people will be brave enough to ask for their money back as in the end you are left with a feeling of being totally ripped off by Hollywood! If you want to see some real taboo sexual topics, go watch an European production, cause nothing will even come out of the US without being hand picked for the entertained minds...shame this time there isn't even a hint of entertainment!

Terrible!
13 June 2013
This is what happens when you make an old man, who was never a good actor, read cheesy lines - disaster. This is no Terminator and watching Arnold trying to narrate some long sentences is really painful as it has been in the past. The only difference it that he looks completely immobile this time around. The movie has no development, it is full of cliché characters that don't even fit with each other and the supporting cast is like taken off a comic book. It could have been some sort of escapism if it wasn't pretending to be a real action movie. There is no real introduction and for most of the first half hour the big action star, whom you paid your ticket money to see, is not even getting enough screen time. Not that it would have made any difference as Arnold tries to compensate for his old body and inability to jump around like 20 years ago my talking too much and delegating. The action-packed scenes are so crowded it makes you feel everything is happening in a backyard. To sum up - avoid at all costs!

The Lost Son (1999)

Serious topic but far too shallow movie
1 February 2013
I always give movies higher grades when after having seen them I realize how long they were. This one might be too shallow to really captivate the audience, but was not in any case boring or banal. The acting is pretty solid and compensate for the lack of cohesion between the central theme and the path of development of both storyline and characters. It tries to be dark like some other typical European thrillers and it achieves the effect most of the time. Unfortunately it is too predictable and does not leave anything to the imagination. Still, with very few movies dealing with this uncomfortable topic for filmmakers, it is nice to see a movie such as this being out there for people to see.

Brutal and mesmerizing! Must see!
5 January 2013
I must admit I have been expecting this one from the moment Tom Holland (Billy Elliot The Musical) was cast, but never expected something so brutal and direct. The story in itself is very well developed but that comes naturally for movies based on true events. The way it is told makes the entire experience even more mesmerizing. The entire cast is exceptional and the debut of Tom Holland is one to remember. There are some scenes, which go a bit too far with regards to how graphic they are and even I felt disgusted, but they do make the movie even more difficult to forget. Although it is almost 2 hours, the experience is so demanding on the average viewer that it feels like 2 minutes have passed. Overall an amazing and must see piece of drama!

Terribly painful and very predictable
7 October 2012
You would think Nick Cage would finally stop with the identical and always predictable actions, but this one just hits rock bottom. The moment I saw the trailer I was kind of confused as to wasn't there such movie made just a year ago with Cage? Kidnapped daughter, granddaughter, some cheap fighting scenes and banal storyline is all you can associate with Cage lately. However, unlike Drive Angry, this one is so terribly made it is almost painful. The whole story reminds you of the typical action movies from the mid-90's and everything is so claustrophobic, it is hardly watchable. It feels as if all the action is taking place in one street. The acting is atrocious and I will not even go there with details. Cage is predictable and seems as bored with the role as he was in the second Ghost Rider movie. If you are new to Cage and under 16 you might find this remotely interesting, but otherwise, you could just find Gone in 60 seconds and enjoy it again.

Laughable and pathetic!
13 August 2012
Sorry to say, but this Bulgaria-made movie is by far the most idiotic piece of cinema you could possibly imagine. It is hard to believe this had a budget of 5 million to work with and I guess most of it went into paying Slater and Spall, whom I would hardly imagine will take the part without a substantial paycheck. Concentrating on the actual movie, I would start with the story, which is non-existent and so badly written you could hardly follow what exactly is going on. Advertised as an action movie, the action is so little you could easily fall asleep. The biggest fight scene between Slater and the woman near the end is banal and completely detached from the entire plot (if there is any plot at all), that it makes you wonder if they just needed Slater to be brutally beaten because he was so stupid to take the part. The woman, whose name I can't bother to remember is such a bad actress, it made me feel uncomfortable and I would strongly advice her to find a real job as acting can hardly get worse nowadays...not to mention how incredibly unnatural everything she does is. I never say this about any woman, but sometimes people who are obviously terrible actors are cast because of their good looks - not the case here unfortunately, but then again I doubt there were any auditions for the role as the actress is also the writer. Screenplay-wise I would say this is the most unrealistically portrayed Bulgaria ever seen. You see scenes more suited for Iraq or Afghanistan 20 years ago rather than Bulgaria. Buying typical Arab clothing on the street in a European country is very unusual even for a movie. I assume the author wanted to ridicule the current situation in Bulgaria, where corruption and organised crime are thriving but involving some middle-Eastern terrorists and basically making it look like Bulgaria is more or less the center of modern day terrorism is moronic. I am not going to discuss the endless belly dance scenes and perverted moments involving Slater in a public place seemingly having an orgasm, but one thing is certain - sexuality does not always sell!

I would not recommend this piece of "action" to anyone, who considers themselves moderately intelligent! In fact I would not recommend it even as a joke as that would be too cruel!

One of the all-time classics
1 April 2012
This is one of the all-time classics and certainly one of the best war movies ever created without the banal fighting scenes. The full of emotions story benefits greatly from the performances of Bale and Malkovich, who turn the nearly 3 hour drama into a very enjoyable experience. The story requires the length of the movie as it is extremely deep and full of little details that need to be included in order to achieve the full emotional effect. Of course it is worthless to say that the big break of Christian Bale could not have been more impressive. He turns this into so much more than the normal coming-of-age movie with astonishing facial expressions and acting well beyond his tender age at the time.

Do not miss this because some cartoon-freaks can't get their way!
23 March 2012
I had very high expectations for this movie because I never cared to see the cartoons. After all, transferring a cartoon to the big screen is never easy and if you are some cartoon-freak you will never like the end result. The movie is good enough and gives you some quality entertainment above all. The acting is very intense and the lead character shows a lot of emotions for a little boy. Dav Patel is completely unsuited to play his character, but at least he's got a job outside the stereotypical Indian/Pakistani characters and he is a talented actor, so not much to worry about. Special effects are great and the settings for all major fight scenes are very clever. The editing is solid enough and while there are some bad moments in the screenplay, you can hardly notice those as the actors manage to shift the attention in the opposite direction. Where this movie leaves something to be desired is the overall continuity. Everything happens just too quickly and smaller children might find it difficult to follow at times. Yet, it is good entertainment for the entire family and as good as The Golden Compass. Shame they don't make more movies in that specter as they could be extremely interesting.

A good way to waste 30 million and create the biggest piece of crap!
26 February 2012
We have seen some bad sequels and one that comes to mind is Highlander, but this one beats it by a mile. It is so bad that one can wonder how on Earth did it cost 30 million dollars? Starting with the screenplay, if there was one, this movie simply has no continuity whatsoever...no storyline, no development - just a bunch of characters walking around a badly prepared stage fighting. The staging is so terrible, you probably won't see it in a high school play. It leaves you with the impression that the "long journey" is actually happening in a two-bedroom house. The special effects are pathetic and you can actually see the faults in something as simple as shades. Some of the fight scenes are obviously taken in front of a green screen. The acting is beyond tragic. No shocks here as nobody would expect the cast to actually act something that has no purpose and is not really going anywhere. Some of the lines are like written by a 9 year old on two beers. Tens of new characters are presented without any history or connection to anybody or anything. If all that wasn't enough, the director seems like he took a day off as some scenes include awkward pieces of body parts being focused on while the character is saying something. If there was a nomination for the worse 10+ million dollar movie in history, this one will get it for sure!

Very dark and dramatic. Better than Reign of Fire
22 February 2012
It is shocking that a movie that good was not well accepted in the US and hardly saw the screens. I assume is the lack of a Hollywood cliché-bad ass as the hero, but yet American audience is known to be immune to quality cinema. The movie is extremely close to Reign of Fire in character with the story being more flat and to some extend predictable. Still, the dark and dramatic goes on and on with Jim Caviezel putting up a stunning performance. The visual effects are not bad and unlike the typical Hollywood blockbuster trash not used in every second scene. There is just the right amount of blood and suffering that do not distract from the dramatic side of things. It is a 2 hour movie, but it really flows quickly as I hardly noticed the length, which says a lot. Very good directing helps the dark feeling and Stone Age Norway is well portrayed. The love story is again totally anti-Hollywood as it is not given the usual cliché attention that only would have distracted us from the free-flowing action. Some of the supporting cast, although completely unknown to me, left a good impression. A must see for fans of quality dark, dramatic science fiction and action movies.

Quite banal and totally unattached to the previous movies
22 December 2011
The moment you hear Las Vegas you are aware that the gloomy, Eastern European feeling of Hostel is lost forever. Movies like this one are made just to pass the time and I am afraid that is how you are going to feel after seeing it - indifferent. Absolutely no connection with the previous movies, banal characters and even more ridiculous sub-story of jealousy and deception. A lot of blood and innovative ways of killing people do not help its cause as the rich hunting club is turned into a casual evening in the theater. The club members are so badly portrayed it is almost laughable. The acting is nothing but mediocre with some of the active bad guys taken out of a stereotype book. Real shame!

Quite predictable and shallow!
8 December 2011
About 10 years ago we used to watch movies like that mainly on TV as they were never really exciting enough for the big screen. From the very beginning Faces in the Crowd leaves exactly that impression of a TV movie you might accidentally come by on a lazy Sunday afternoon on some local channel. Basically the story is shallow and unexciting, dealing with a little-known medical condition, which is mixed up with serial-killer storyline. The lack of interesting characters allows us to easily predict every bit of the story from the smallest of hints, including who the killer is. Some of the hints I even considered insulting to my intelligence as basically nothing was left to the imagination. Hectic events, extremely dumb love story and some very peculiar police work that allows a serial killer to murder somebody in a night club in front of hundreds of people and then just get away. The police officers, the killer and even the main character are like taken out of a stereotype book as they are so unrealistic that it almost makes you laugh. I can recommend you watching this right before bedtime after a good night out as it is the only time you might see some sense in it!
