Lang & gelukkig (2010)
refreshing and hilarious
A star studded award winning cast with a wickedly funny script. Bending all the gender rules and possibly a lot of other rules along the way.
So often I am blown away by pogrammes made for children. Alex and Gijs have Oscar worthy roles and Paris and Hilton. Sassier then their namegiver (and dare I say, better dancers) The low budget feel only adds to the quality and gives the whole production an amateur feel with professional quality. I loved it!
The Night Of (2016)
Looks to be a great show
Just saw the second episode and I'm loving this show. Gritty and realistic.
The first episode was a bit slow but not a bad slow. The second episode picked up in pace a bit but still left room to develop the characters, the story line and most important the feel of the scene. The latter is done very well, police officers who are normal working class people who don't like to work overtime, make mistakes and have fortunate accidents. The family of the accused feeling wronged at having their laptop taken away by the police are details you normally wouldn't see in a crime show but really add to the realism and sucks you into the show and makes you feel the helplessness of the accused.
Can't wait how the rest of the show will develop. I hope I will still give it a 9 after I've seen it all.
Hacksaw Ridge (2016)
Pretty mediocre
Nominated for 6 Oscars. Really? I was really looking forward to seeing this movie although the story is already revealed in the trailer (and by the fact that it is a true story)
I found it really cliché, mediocre and a waste of good actors that not gave a great performance at all. Garfield does an OK job, but I was definitely disappointed with Weaver and Griffiths.
I watched the first half of the movie, the blooming love with the nurse, his training and shipping off to the battlefield. All so predictable and boring that I felt I could spend the last hour on more interesting things.
I don't have much of an opinion on Mel Gibson. Braveheart was good, but I never saw The passion of Christ. If it is anything like this I will not bother.
Don't do it. A waste of your two hours.
