Shake It Up (2010)
Disney has gone to a new low!
After hearing some friends say the show was good I decided to give it a chance even though I normally don't like these kinds of shows. I don't like Sonny with a chance and most Disney shows with "Teen" Singers/Dancers/Actors. But I thought I might like this one. I have no idea why and I was so wrong! This is probably one of THE worst Disney shows in years-if not the worst! Hannah Montana was OK and Suite Life was OK. This show is the worst of them all! Its the opposite messages you want to send to kids. First of all, in the beginning episode you see the two main characters, CeCe and Rocky, dancing for money on the streets. Not for food but for a cell phone! Next they go on a dancing show to fulfill their dream (nothing wrong with that , right?). Well, CeCe and Rocky come 2nd at some of the competitions. Instead of saying "We'll try harder next time" they whine and whine. Not a good message to send to kids! Next is the wardrobe. I noticed that the 2 main girls wear clothes and makeup that would take hours to put together. It looks unreal how they would look so "Professionally done" at school! Next is the writing. The writers just re-use the same lines on every show! And the same character personalities. Every show now on Disney there is a mean, popular girl, usually 2 girls who get picked on by the mean girl, the annoying brother and the goofy kid. Almost all those characters are on Hannah Montana. The one good show on Disney I like is Good Luck Charlie. Its good, funny and has normal kids. No kids trying to be famous. Go watch Good Luck Charlie!
iCarly (2007)
Not another Tween sitcom!
iCarly is about a teenage girl named Carly Shay (Miranda Cosgrove) who lives with her artist brother, Spencer in a loft in Seattle. Carly has a web show that gets millions of views and makes tons of money a year, so much money she "doesn't even know its a real number". Her best friend is Sam (Janette McCrudy) who's as predictable as they come! She says "normal" things and beats up Carly's neighbor, Freddie who is in charge of all the technical things for their web show. Carly shouts every word and looks like she doesn't have emotion. Sam chases Freddie around and Freddie screams. In one episode Carly and her friends shoot Lewbert (the doorman) down in elevator and he survives.
I would not recommend this at all, unless you like teenagers shouting, hurting people and making fun of stuff.
Did You Hear About the Morgans? (2009)
Did You Hear about the Morgans -- surprisingly not quite terrible
OK, so it won't win any awards -- at least any of a positive nature. However, I didn't think it was as bad as people are saying. Given a choice between a root canal and watching this movie, I'd watch the movie. The sheriff and his wife were worth a chuckle or two, and the Asian baby was really in character, as was the bear. The plot was somewhat predictable. I was waiting for the NYC couple played by SJP and Hugh Grant to decide they'd rather live in Wyoming, but at least that didn't happen. The two assistants were somewhat annoying and need to consider couples counseling or a personality transplant (or both). In the end, however, I don't think anyone seeing this movie will want to join the witness protection program as a recreational activity.
