Wonderland (2003)
10/10
very well done.

Saw this movie last night. I really like this style of film making. It is

very creatively edited; fast paced in a palpable way. I saw it in a really good theater, so the sound was incredible; loud

in a good, effective way. The score was fantastic and really well

intertwined with the source music. The acting was superb. It did a great job of capturing the coke

laden, 80's before anyone knew about AIDS. This film is very artfully done; they get away with telling a pretty ugly,

violent story with a bunch of unsavory characters and make the

whole thing compelling. Great job.

Basquiat (1996)
I think this film is great
4 June 2003
I thought this film captured the feel of SoHo and the downtown art scene in 1980's NYC. (I lived in NYC from 1986 until 2001.) I really like the untethered, free-spirited, and dangerous elements of Basquiat's character. The movie doesn't fit into the film school model of a perfectly constructed piece, but I find that appealling; the film is artful and enjoyable. I watch it whenever it shows up on one of the film channels unedited and uninterrupted. Hope you enjoy it as well.
