Le dernier seigneur des Balkans (2005)
great movie
This series was good. It showed the complexity of the Balkan region. Also showed how bad communism was. Hoxha was a brute. The casting was good too. I also liked how the world changed during the decades. A shame that not many people commented on this TV movie.
A sequel to this movie can be played in our heads. Communism is the loser for sure. Nationalism will win. I would assume that the baby will be brought up by the Greek chap who would become a rich magnate. He would adopt his values which is better than that of his birth mother's (communism) and birth father's (nationalism). The Greek man's ideology is every man for himself.
Lost: The Man Behind the Curtain (2007)
Great Episode
Great episode of Lost. This was refreshing since we get to see flashbacks from Ben. Interesting to see that he tends to lie at times such as by saying that he has always lived on the island which is false. Jacob seems to exist and can be seen & heard only by Ben just as Hurley could only see and hear Dave.
Also it seems that Richard Alpert does not age. Either that or the production made a pathetic attempt at making him look younger. If this is the case then it would have been better to have young Ben meet up with a younger looking Tom instead. As for Locke, he gets shot at the end but since injuries are healed quickly on the island he shall probably live though I don't understand why Kate's policeman died from his injuries at beginning of 1st season. Maybe he was not on the list.
The Last Child (1971)
population overgrowth
Controlling population growth may not be such a bad idea since the fauna of this planet are suffering due to man's selfishness. Human overpopulation results in cutting down of trees for open space and farmland. This then results in greenhouse gases which today we sadly see the effects. Controlling population growth is not a fascist thing. Sure China does it. Yes I know that Chinese are communists but they too can be labeled fascists. I have not seen the movie. But we should make a science 'fiction' movie like this one. Perhaps another remake of this movie should be in the works. With a big starred cast, we will be more inclined to be struck by the message of the film and maybe change our habits.
On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969)
pretty good
This James Bond movie was pretty good. Lazenby is no Connery but surprisingly does fine here. Peter Hunt did a very good part in introducing Lazenby before the theme is played. The theme itself by the master John Barry is one of the best in the series. Lazenby also handles the fighting scenes well even though these scenes at times feel a little choppy. He also did a great job with the final scene. Having said that I'm happy that he did not do more James Bond movies despite originally being signed up for 7 JB movies. It was great seeing Connery in the next movie even though he looked older than his years & Moore's portrayal as JB was refreshing. What is sad is that Lazenby did not get many offers after this movie. He was supposed to have done a movie with Bruce Lee but Lee died & prevented this from happening. Now Lazenby says that if he had to de-do things he would have liked to have done another JB movie. I'm not sure that this would have helped his acting career since he would have still broken his contract with Broccoli. He should have done like Connery, asked for producers to finance movies that he played in.
Hulk (2003)
Ok but some parts were bad (contains major spoilers)
The movie was ok. Eric Bana was fine as the hulk & the beginning looked promising but the CGI gets mixed results. One part that I found a bit strange concerned the character of David Bana. We know that Bruce Bana witnessed his mother's death and that the General was asking Bruce how he could forget this. I was expecting the flashbacks to show David Bana metamorphosing a bit like the early stages of the main character in 'the fly'. But David Bana remained human & he accidently killed his wife when he was trying to kill Bruce. Jeez. The plot looked promising though & it would have been nice to portray David Bana's dark side in a better way. Also the director should have explored hulk in a more subtle way instead of making him use his full powers early on. An director specializing in action movies should be hired if ever a sequel is made. One more thing, I liked the scene where the hulk speaks to his father, that was powerful.
Moonraker (1979)
Good movie.
Before watching this movie I had heard a lot of negative remarks about this movie. I was pleasantly surprised at how good this movie was. The plot was pretty interesting, the main villain was pretty charismatic and Roger Moore was actually better here then in many of his previous movies. He showed well his fragility when he refuses the helping hand of Dr. Goodyear just when he gets out of the space capsule that was turning around pretty fast in circles. Even the soundtrack sang yet again by Shirley Basset is pretty good. It has similarities with 'the spy who loved me' but is as good as that movie and in some aspects even better. Some people may not like the space battle but I thought it was quite cool for a 1979 movie. I enjoyed the part of the various people who were selected for the space station and we get to see them in the space shuttles with the heavenly theme being played.
Taiyô no ko Esuteban (1982)
Plot for new series
I really enjoyed this show. Everything was good about it, the plot, the music, the characters. What would be good is to make a sequel to it like Albator. Ex. Esteban comes back to Barcelona 10-15 yrs. later and meets up with Pedro & Sancho at the Tavern. They tell him that Mendoza is now a Captain of his own ship at the service of the King & owns a Tobacco farm in Spanish lands in S. America. He has children from his wife Isabel and his son is named Juan-Esteban. He will be back in a few days. As for Sancho & Pedro they work as court jesters for the Kings court. Esteban tells them that they visited all of the Cities of Gold & tells what happend to Zia & Tao. He also tells Pedro that he is descended from an old race, the Neantherthals and gives him an object that is part of his heritage. The adventures that they all talk about are recounted in the series. Gomez is also alive & is still a threat to Mendoza.
