The Nun II (2023)
5/10
Not the best.
21 September 2023
I am one of the few who preferred the original which I found more creepy and less complex than the sequel. Sometimes it's best to keep things simple.

The sequel which has moved to France via the character Maurice who was in the original. There are lots of plot holes and you have to ask yourselves how they seem to work things out so easily with minimal effort and how miraculously all the dots join together.

It's also strange that the the demon has no problem dispatching some characters yet doesn't seem to be able to kill more helpless victims!

I would imagine there will be a third film made based on the money made which hopefully will be an improvement on the lacklustre sequel.

Blair Witch (2016)

Lots of screaming...
2 July 2023
I'm old enough to have watched the original Blair Witch Project which came out in 1999 and that had a great marketing campaign and it did a wonderful job of creating the self style video footage which of course was used in many films afterwards. I did find the original a little annoying with the screaming and can't see anything in the dark footage but the newer Blair Witch film takes this to new levels. Basically Blair Witch is a rerun of the original but not as good. It has more gore, more screams and more darkness. The only dialogue in the film after the first 30 minutes is characters screaming names into dark woods. Not sure why this was made as there is nothing new brought to the series. Give it a miss.

The Babadook (2014)
4/10
Glad I saw it for free.
10 January 2023
Just watched after hearing some positive reviews and was disappointed. I've seen loads of films like this that are considered average fodder and this should be one of them. Two annoying main characters, a book, lots of darkness, a ghoul that can't be seen. You get the picture. Had this film been released 30 years ago it would have gone under the radar but the quality of film is so bad in the 21st century that The Babadook is considered a good film. I think people are looking into this film too much in regards to loss and depression which it does indeed have but as for having genuine horror there is none. It's not a scary film by any means and for me I couldn't wait for it to end and needless to say the ending was ambiguous.

It's been a while!
20 September 2022
I probably haven't watched this for about 25 years and I forgot how bad it was. Considering how good Halloween 4 was it appears they filmed this immediately afterwards with no script it would seem! The Halloween franchise really lost it's way in Halloween 5 and 6 with some silly cult plot. The film started bad when Michael Myers collapsed in a barn and slept there it would seem for one year and for some reason the man living there didn't seem to have any suspicions to why he would still be alive and why didn't he report it?! It continued in this bad vain of lazy writing and unlikeable characters.

A late but fitting sequel.
5 September 2022
I pretty much got what I was expecting from Top Gun: Maverick. It's not meant to be realistic because its a film for entertainment purposes which is exactly what it delivers on. The cinematography is superb as are the flying scenes which are vastly improved from the original Top Gun. I thought the romantic element to the film was forced and wasn't needed as it did not fit in with the film. It was nice to see Ice Man make an appearance and of course there was some nostalgia with references to the original film but thankfully the 10 litres of baby oil used for the volleyball scene from Top Gun was scrapped for the sequel!

Dreadful.
4 September 2022
What a complete mess this film is and a two hour bore that I somehow managed to get through. Make no sense whatsoever and is probably the worst film I've seen so far in 2022 and I've seen some turkeys. How this film has scored 7 on here is mind boggling just like the film itself. This film is no Close Encounters of the Third Kind trust me! Where are all the decent directors these days because all we get is churned out garbage. I've seen all three of Peele's films he has directed and this is by far the worst. I do find him a very overrated director. His films play out a bit like a M. Night Shyamalan project but just the end product is never as good.

Just ok.

Obviously like all the The Krays films there are inaccurancies but I found this film uninspiring. It plodded along but I just didn't find it as good as it should have been. The acting was decent and so were the sets of 1960's London but there was something missing. I found the 1990's Krays film much more entertaining.

Better than I thought it would be.
14 April 2022
I had reservations watching beforehand but it kept me entertained for the two hours. Joaquin Phoenix was very good but I think maybe he was about 10 years too old for the part but he does look old for his age regardless. It would appear that his character is not the "Joker" from the Batman franchise because if anyone was watching he did not murder Bruce Wayne's parents. This was a portrayal of a madman who I believe inspired another person to become "Joker."

Average thriller.
21 March 2022
The first 30 minutes were pretty solid and then it got derailed with a silly plot where by some miracle all the things that were set up by her husband all come together if by magic. I've not seen much with Megan Fox in. She isn't the best actress but looked good and managed to be pretty convincing.

Utter trash...
21 February 2022
The most frightening aspect of the film was I managed to reach the end of this vile mess. Even for a Netflix film this is terrible. If you are a fan of the original then do not watch this as you will want to chainsaw through the TV!

Warning: Spoilers
The worst of the Annabelle films. A film set in the Warren's house who leave their daughter with a babysitter for a night and I think you can guess the rest. Yes, of course one of the characters breaks into the room of evil and opens the Annabelle glass box and it's all very routine from there. It's not ever scary! So with three main characters who seem to be in three different rooms throughout their peril yet they are all in the same house! Watch Annabelle Creation if you want to see the best in the series for this is by far the worst.

Not exactly a thrilling ride...

Warning: Spoilers
When a film takes me three times to finish meaning I watch it in intervals over a few days it is never a good sign. This is nothing more than a young man lost in the world who decides to travel through the US where his ultimate goal is to get to Alaska but he has no experience how to live of the land so not surprisingly he dies. Essentially it is a glorified suicide mission of ignorance.

One film too many.
8 December 2021
Given the fact that Rambo 4 was a great send off and should have concluded the series this film was a big let down. It was watchable but just plain silly. It is a violent revenge film with more holes in it that I lost count. I'm a fan of the Rambo series but this was certainly the worst of the series.

A film that predicted the future!
18 November 2021
A film that depicts the mainstream media as another arm of it's tyrannical government which sums up what is happening worldwide in 2020/2021. All in the guise of the common cold. This is certainly worth a watch. We can only hope for the same revolution in the near future.

All Is Lost (2013)

All is lost indeed.
6 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So I'm meant to believe an elderly man can fall into stormy seas on at least two occasions in this film and navigate under water in the dark and pull himself on to either the boat or the raft. We knew nothing about the character and he barely said anything in the whole movie. A man in that situation would be full of emotion and urgency yet this was none of this from the Redford character. This cannot be taken as a realistic survival film.

A cult classic now!
29 September 2021
I've watched this film many times and I've seen all of the other Halloween sequels with Michael Myers included and this is better than a fair few of them yet this is the one that is the black sheep of the lot so to speak. The music is creepy along with the "company town" location. It's a witchcraft film basically with some solid acting and the gore effects are pretty decent too.

Where do I start?
27 September 2021
For starters Alligators do not act or behave in any manner depicted in this fillm. The CGI Alligators were poor as well. As for the story, there wasn't one. A film full of screams and stupidity sums this up. Don't waste your time.

Zero stars if possible.
24 August 2021
A film so bad I don't even know how I got through to the end of it. I'm at a loss to the 6 star rating on here. Rubbish on all levels from acting to the "script" if you can call it that.

Still great.
23 August 2021
I haven't watched this since I was 15 years old in 1990 and I liked it then and 30 odd years later it's still a good watch. Much better than action/thrillers being made these days.

Had potential....
27 July 2021
The concept was good and overall I was quite entertained but the script for the two youngsters in the film was annoying and unrealistic given the situation/peril they were in.

Better than most in this genre.
13 June 2021
I think this film highlights decisions that people have to make in life death situations. The isolation of being in the ocean with miles of the unknown below where you swim, where currents change and waves are constantly battering against you is everyone's worst nightmare and then of course comes sharks. There was a lot of tension in this film and given the small cast they were all excellent in their roles and were very convincing. Nothing in the film felt fake and of course the footage of the sharks were real. This film is well worth a watch.

Was ok.
20 May 2021
I've never seen the original 1988 version so obviously can't compare the two but this film was very average. I've seen a lot of fims very similar to Child's Play so don't expect anything new from this but I've also seen a lot worse than this movie!

Just plain silly.
11 May 2021
I know this is a film and is meant for entertainment purposes but this film is just ridiculous. The last 20 minutes was simply laughable as "we" learn the backstory. I would have voted it a 1 but I gave it a 4 as the acting was decent given the horrible script and concept.

It could have been great.
6 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I cannot believe the film makers managed to make a very well thought out film with some great perfomances to ruin it with the last 10 minutes of silly sci fi nonsense. If sci fi was to be included in the film it should have happened way before. The film was thrown off completely by the last 10 minutes.

How did I reach the end?
10 August 2020
One of the most irratating films I've seen in a long time. Horrible characters and non stop screaming throughout. Don't tell your friends you like it or they may unfriend you!
