The Amazing Race (2001)
Just an amazing show
Last December, Survivor South Pacific ended and I had to find something to watch while the 3 months passed until Survivor came back. So I decided to try out this show, Amazing Race. I was hooked after 1 episode and watched an entire season in 1 night. By the end of the 3 months I had watched all 19 seasons of the show. It became my new obsession. Easily the best show on TV, even the duller seasons such as 4, 8, or 13 are still awesome and entertaining. I know this show is definitely not for everyone, you need to like reality shows to enjoy this (obviously), but if you are a fan of survivor, big brother, or even fear factor, I would definitely suggest giving this amazing show a chance.
Scream Queens (2008)
I had a mini heart-attack at the season finally judgement!!!
I decided to watch this show because i am a huge fan of saw. ever since the beginning of this season (i didn't get to watch last season) i have been in love with this show and in love with the winning actress. This show started out as almost a comedy with all of the new actresses but over time it turned into a very very intense show. The arguing, the acting, the eliminations, everything. At the season finally i seriously felt like i had a mini heart-attack when they told us the winner. The final 2 were both fantastic actresses, and i would have been happy to see either win the entire show. This show is everything that i wanted it to be and more. It is very intense. Even though there won't be any more saws, i am praying for a season 3. this is my favorite reality show...ever. This show is fun, which is the best word to describe it. Fun.
A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)
It is a remake!
OK, a lot of people hate remakes. I, on the other hand, love them. They bring the classics to the people of this generation where we can actually watch them without laughing. I tried to watch the original "A Nightmare on Elm Street" from the 1980's and it was laughable. The acting was bad, the blood was so fake it looked like juice, and the dialog was so bad a 3rd grader could have written it. This, however, was smart, scary, suspenseful, gory, surprising, and a great movie all together. Yes, it is a remake, and yes, i liked it a lot more than the original. It stuck to the original without completely copying it. It had enough new material to keep it fresh, but was still faithful to the original. Remakes are some of the best things ever because it brings the old classics to this generation, and you would (probably) only like the original better if you grew up with it.
30 Days of Night (2007)
The best vampire movie
Think of this movie as a Twilight army having babies with monsters from The Descent, and what you got is a violent, gory, fantastic movie! Let me start off my saying that I HATE vampire movies, they are too sci-fi for me. But there is 1 exception, and that is this movie. These aren't good looking vampires who want to fall in love and care about people, these are vicious monsters who are scary as hell. This is one of my favorite movies, because it doesn't play out like a vampire movie. It feels new and fresh and original, it feels like this shouldn't even be considered a vampire movie. It is creepy and an all around great movie. The only reason that I am not giving it 10 stars is because of the end, but even with the end, this is a great movie. I highly suggest it.
Hatchet (2006)
One of the best slashers...brings us back to the 80's.
The people who say this movie is stupid...well, they are watching the movie for the wrong reasons then. If you are looking for a great acted movie with a great plot and a huge twist, this is not the movie for you at all. If you are looking for a movie that will bring us back to the 80's, when the movies weren't very well acted and there is tons of gore, this IS for you. It does have an original story, but some will call this movie pointless killing. This is the goriest movie i have ever seen and is NOT for anyone who thought the new Friday the 13th or My Bloody Valentine 3d was too gory, because this takes the gore of both movies, combines them, then times that by 5. This movie can be looked at 2 ways. Some will watch it and think of it as a comedy, which it is. Those 2 actresses are hilarious, the blonde especially. Some will look at it as a horror, and it can be scary. If i am ever in Louisiana i sure as hell ain't going in the swamp! It made my little sister cry at night. You just can't be sitting there saying that the acting is bad or that it is too gory, BECAUSE THAT IS THE POINT! just sit back and enjoy the twisted ride!
The Descent (2005)
Do not watch the TV edited version of this movie, it sucks. Get the real thing!
I first watched this movie on Syfy about 2 years ago. It was the worst thing i ever saw. I didn't get why so many people loved it. Then about a year ago my sister brought home "The Descent" from Blockbuster and she somehow convinced me to watch it with her. It was completely different than the TV edited version, in a very good way. This movie is amazing! I had to go out and buy it and I have watched it countless times and I still jump at this part, or at that noise. This was just a really good movie all together. If you can't handle very much gore, there are 2 things you can think of. The first is that it is very dark and gloomy and has a very creepy atmosphere, so you won't be able to see very much (even though you can see most of the gore!). The second would be not to watch this movie because it IS very gory. The thing that I noticed most though was how the girls go from being adventurous girls who love the outdoors, to being frightened little back stabbers, to being these macho tough girls who aren't afraid of anything. It is a complete turn around...twice! Anyways it was a very good movie and I suggest buying it because renting it wouldn't be enough!
Kill Theory (2009)
The movie is awesome, but kind of disappointing.
I went into this movie with such high expectations that I can't even describe. I was so excited because my friends saw it and told me it was awesome and the entire plot of this movie sounded cool. When I went to Blockbuster and rented it, I could barely wait to watch it. Then I put it in, watched it, and was upset. I didn't get exactly what I wanted. I thought it would be way different than it actually was. So I was pretty upset with the way it turned out. Then I watched it again last night and this time I knew what was going to happen so I thought it would be even worse, but then I watched it and it turned out to be one of my favorite movies. Since I went in the first time with such high expectations, it kind of sucked because I wasn't "watching the movie". But then I watched it for what it was, and what it was, and what it is was very good. I suggest renting it, or buying it.
Vacancy (2007)
Love it or hate it. I loved it.
This movie is kind of similar to The Strangers, so if you saw that and liked it this will not disappoint. This is a very good movie, and the character build up and the background story made you actually want the characters to live. They don't do any stupid moves, they do what people would actually do. This movie doesn't use gore to scare, it uses suspense and it actually works. Some movies try to use suspense and it ends up really boring, but this movie uses it perfectly. This is a very good movie that you will love or hate, because some people will consider this boring. People looking for a gory movie will be very disappointed. This movie is barely gory at all, but it didn't even disappoint me, and I like all the gory goods just as much as the next person. This movie is exciting and it is fast paced. All in all, it is one of my favorite movies ever.
Eden Lake (2008)
I can't even describe in words how amazing this movie is.
This is probably my favorite movie...ever. It is suspenseful, gory, scary, brutal, and many other things. It is fairly fast paced, but unlike many horror movies this one gets us to know the characters, even the bad guys. You start off with two normal young adults, going on vacation. Through a series of events, they adults make the biggest mistake ever. Then the chase is on for the next hour. This movie made even me and my sister cry at one point. The ending to this movie might make you want to through the DVD and TV out the window, but it is worth it. It doesn't matter how many times you watch it, each time you will be screaming at the characters to "MOVE!" or "HE'S RIGHT BEHIND YOU!" with all the jumps and scares thrown in. I don't know how, but every time you watch this it feels like the first time. It is just amazing. BUY IT!
