Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2024)
I liked more than I thought I would
I actually really liked this show. More than I thought I would. I checked it out because I liked the Mr & Mrs Smith movies but I really couldn't figure out why they'd try to make it into a series. So I was sceptical that I would enjoy it. But I really think it's great and the chemistry between the main actors is great. They really seem to bounce off each other. It's the right amount of funny and action and romance with all of the awkwardness that comes with each. It makes the characters really likeable.
My only complaint is the cinematography. This show has definitely fallen victim to the dark cinematography trend where it always looks like someone has turned off all the lights or somehow dimmed the sun. I'm not sure why that has become a trend but it adds a level of cheesiness to everything. I hope if they ever make another season they aren't afraid to turn the lights on. No one likes watching something they can barely see.
Twin Love (2023)
Meh
Not exciting like Love Island or Love is Blind. Prime needs to do some more work to get their reality series on the same level as the other streaming services.
It was often difficult to differentiate between the twins in the different houses given that most were completely identical and had similar sounding names. Having the participants colour coded would have helped with watchability (e.g one house wearing red and the other wearing blue).
There wasn't much special about the show other than the participants were twins. Mostly it's just a boring watch. Hoping the next seasons are less boring and watchability is increased.
The Little Mermaid (2023)
I really wanted to like this..
No, I really wanted to love this. It just wasn't it for me. The first hour of the movie was so visually dark I had to turn the brightness up on my TV. The rest of the movie was so drab and dull looking. Nothing like the colourful original. Ariel's new hair colour might have been cute but it was honestly just hard to see through the horrible lighting and editing, making it fall really flat. The acting was great but the poor visual choices of the movie made it almost unbearable to watch. It really lacked the vibrancy we all know and love from Disney and the classics. The creative choices really failed the actors here.
The Witcher: Blood Origin (2022)
Great limited series
This show was actually really good. I was very surprised by the reviews. It seems this is another fantasy series that has been the victim of "review bombing". Fantasy fans need to learn that if you continue to complain about series that are actually pretty good Hollywood will stop making fantasy series altogether.
Overall, I enjoyed this series. The acting and storytelling were good and I liked the casting choices. Beautiful cinematography and music. The makeup and costumes were also really well done. Hoping we get some more Witcher spin-offs in the future. Although it seems unlikely since the fans can't stop complaining about every little thing.
Buckhead Shore (2022)
Unlikeable cast, boring content
The cast is just a bunch of spoiled, rich kids with no life skills. Nothing about them is likeable or relatable like the other Shore casts.
It might be watchable if any of the cast members were remotely interesting. But they aren't. Being rich isn't a personality trait. What a disappointing addition to the Shore family. Compared to Jersey Shore and Floribama Shore this is just a flop.
MTV needs to go back to basics and stick to the recipe that works. If I wanted to watch a bunch of boring rich people I'd watch one of the other million reality tv shows that follow them around. That's not what the Shore series have been about.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017)
Great movie
I don't understand the bad reviews. Sci-fi/fantasy fans tend to be too picky and ruin the chances of getting sequels. This is a wonderful film and I enjoyed every minute. I've watched it so many times and still find new and interesting things every time I watch. The cast is also filled with great picks. Overall a fun and interesting movie with a great story. The graphics and CGI are also top notch. Really a great ride from start to finish. All the alien creatures were created with so much thought and imagination. I really wish we were getting more movies from this story because it's truly a great one.
Lakewood (2021)
Better than expected
I actually surprisingly liked this movie. Lots of movies where the almost the entire film only consists of one actor can be very hit or miss. But I really liked this one. It was engaging and interesting. Naomi Watts put in a great performance here. Underrated movie for sure.
Night Sky (2022)
Wonderful and Enjoyable
The cast all have so much chemistry and bring so much to this fantasy series. Kept you wondering what was going to happen next with no shortage of excitement. The cinematography was also lovely. Hope we get a second season.
Charmed (2018)
Don't listen to the bad reviews.
This show is sweet and kind of silly and totally reminds me of the original Charmed. It's just in a different era and people seem to be mad about that. We need to stop expecting remakes to be exactly like the original series. It's entertaining and fun. Enjoy it for what it is.
The OA (2016)
Stimulating and amazing
I loved this show. I re-watch it all the time just to feel that excitement I felt the first time I watched it. It is a true work of art. I love the little Easter eggs you can spot each time you watch an episode over. I really hope we get a conclusion one day. Really tragic that it ended on a cliffhanger.
Young, Famous & African (2022)
Boring
I was so excited for this show. I thought I was going to see some lavish parties with a little drama. But all they showed was the guys talking about how much they cheat on their girlfriends and wives and have a ton of babies with other women. They all had the same story. So boring.
Archive 81 (2022)
Actually really good
I wasn't sure when watching the first episode but the show really developed over the next few episodes and it was actually really interesting. Hoping they make a second season.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
Not what I expected but still amazing
I watched The Haunting at Hill House first so I expected more of that with this series. That is not what happened but I was still pleasantly surprised. This story was so incredibly beautiful and tragic with a little bit of spook all rolled into one. Less horror than its predecessor and more of a wonderfully sad tragedy. Not less than Hill House. Just different.
The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
Truly exceptional
Perfectly horrific and mind bending and terrifying. All aspects of horror rolled into one series. This was a wild and interesting ride I wish there was more of. A must see for horror junkies.
Voyagers (2021)
Watchable... I guess
Just another boring lord of the flies type movie. The young adults were meant to be geniuses and yet they all act like they had no idea what they were doing once the older adult is no longer in the picture. They act like they were raised like psychopaths.
The Lobster (2015)
Truly terrible
This could have been a cool and odd film. Instead it was just boring and violent. It felt like they just did everything for the shock factor and it just ended up being a mess.
Gossip Girl (2021)
Let's not judge too quickly
The first episode was okay. The second one was much better. People are judging the show on one episode. I like that they are making it a slow burn.
Remember, just because we know who gossip girl is now doesn't mean they will stay gossip girl the whole show.
Let's give it a few episodes at least people. Let them build the show a little before we judge it.
Genera+ion (2021)
I like it!
Gives me some serious Euphoria vibes but less violent and focused more on the younger generations ability to see past a lot of things the previous generations couldn't. The acting is great and the storyline is interesting and never boring. Overall an entertaining show that stands out more as LGBTQ+ acceptance than all these repetitive shows about LGBTQ+ difficulties.
Promising Young Woman (2020)
Best film of 2020
Incredible film. It was everything you could ask for in an entertaining movie. You'll notice most of the negative reviews are from men and I'll bet these men have put themselves in similar situations as the men in the movies and that's why they're mad. Men, if this movie scares you you should probably rethink the way you treat women.
Utopia (2020)
Boring
This show was just so boring. I made it about 3 episodes in and I couldn't watch it anymore. I really wanted to like this show. It's just felt like it was trying to hard with all the violence and gore. They kept killing off all the interesting characters. It felt like the violence and gore was used to cover up a terrible script and lack of storyline. Also some of the acting was not the best. I'll have to try the British version since the other reviews say it's much better.
Yummy Mummies (2017)
Maria ruins the show
I truly feel bad for the Melbourne group here as they are witty, adorable and entertaining. The problem with the first season is Maria and her mother. Very quickly Maria proves to be an unlikeable brat who has no common decency and a horrible attitude. She really puts a damper on the cute and funny show. To top it all off we see her mother and her have a meltdown when they see a woman breastfeeding in public and claim "it should be a crime". Her and her mom make the Kardashians look classy. It seems that they have removed her in the second season but for me there was no making up for including her in the first season.
Karla (2006)
Karla's story.
Some of the people writing comments here are so ignorant!! Your saying "leave theses families alone" or "whoever made this movie should be ashamed" or "i will not give money to people who exploit this"
Just answer this: Have you ever seen.. Titanic? Wolf Creek? The Texas Chainsaw Massacre? House of 1000 Corpses? Murder by Numbers? Zodiac? Notorious? Victory? The Strangers? Schindler's List? etc etc
All of those movies are based on true stories. Most of them about people who have died. Did you think about their families before you saw those movies?
Just because it's a Canadian story doesn't make it an exception to the rule. I'm not offended that this movie was made. If anything it shows us that we should always be careful no matter where we live.
Think before you speak.
