Where the Crawdads Sing (2022)
Nice to see a interesting movie for a change
I picked this movie out of the blue just for something to watch because the movie I wanted to watch was not available. So I just decided ok I will watch this one. I think it was a breath of fresh air. It is a believable story, being it happens in the 60's and in the backwoods. I am sure this could have happened more than some think. The only thing is of course, who killed him. I know! His fiancé/wife found out he was an as#%$& and killed him! Of course she threw the necklace in the marsh girls house when she found out what he did to her. That girl probably made him eat that diamond ring before she pushed him off the tower as she wore her little prissy 1960's white gloves.
Falling Angels (2003)
Realistic and with very well actors
This was a very well done movie. This family was quite dysfunctional. The Father didn't want anyone like the neighbors to know this, although he is the main cause for it in my opinion. The Mother, is in a catatonic state of mind my guess is from losing her firstborn male child as a baby, killed as he falls into Niagara falls. My guess is this is when she started drinking, and I am guessing she didn't cut back enough on the drinks as she had 3 Daughters in close sucession. The oldest, while very pretty is a bit overweight and I am not sure but I think something happened when her Father took her out to learn to drive, not exactly sure, but I am thinking maybe her Father did something of a sexual nature to her. He was drunk like usual, and it was during a scene in the movie when the middle rebel Daughter was having an LSD trip with her boyfriend and they were fooling around, and the youngest Daughter was caught up in an unwanted threesome with her married very older boyfriend. So after the driving lesson she runs to her friends house, and this girl really likes her alot, and they end up slow dancing so I am thinking she would rather be with another girl. Anyways all this going on when the climax of the movie is starting to happen with the poor Mother. I liked this movie because it really took the viewer back in time. Everything was done so well. Better than any other movie I have seen trying to replicate that era. The way the people spoke, the hairstyles and clothes were spot on (the Moms housecoats Oh my!! That quilted satin...) the girls slippers, the cars, bicycle, furniture, paneling music,school......I could go on and on it was perfect. Kind of dreamy also. Done real good.
Snatched (1973)
I was only nine
When I saw this movie back in 1973 on T.V. and it scared me real good. I think they should repeat it so I can see it again. I would probably understand it alot better also. As I remember the movie creeped me out, and I have always wanted to watch it again.
Monster's Ball (2001)
Disgusting
This movie is like two people were screwing, and filmed it and some idiot said "lets write a movie around this screwing scene!" The plot in this movie was predictable and by the midpoint I could guess what would happen before it did. The only thing I didn't get right was I thought she would shoot his balls off at the end. Too bad--she just lets it go. That is really sad that a black actress wins an oscar for basicly screwing a white male. Is that what it takes to win an oscar these days? Is that why nearly every movie has a sex scene?
The Stöned Age (1994)
Decent Movie
There is a lot of comparing this movie to dazed & confused. This movie portrays the 70's high school stoner kids alot more accurately than dazed does. How do I know because I was one. And if anyone told me "air raid siren" and expected me to drop to the ground I would have answered with a blank stare. Like really, stoners did not participate in little school games or school at all. That was for the goobers. The stoned age was accurate. We spent most of the time trying to find a party and get wasted. We had very meager amounts of drugs and alcohol. This movie may have not had the good production of the other but it was more accurate in its portrayal of the seventies.
Logan's Run (1976)
A great Movie
I saw this movie in the theater when it came out and I thought it was great then. I read the book shortly after that and thought it was also great. I watched it again when it was on tv and taped it and I think it is still a great movie. I showed it to many of my friends and they never saw it and they all thought it was great. I like Michael York as Logan (also liked him as a musketeer) he is the most gentlemanly, polite and considerate character I have ever seen in a movie. I have been waiting to meet a "Logan" ever since. People on this comment page are a little too crazy comparing this to that. You are supposed to comment about your opinion of the film--not insult other raters or to say how much better so & so movie was. Geeeez calm down and give your opinion and end it already. Sheeeesh.
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark (1973)
Scared the living daylights out of me
SPOILER!!!!! Seen it as a kid and never saw it again. Always had to check under the bed and in the closet afterwards. The worst part was that hanger coming through the door to turn out the light while she was showering. No one believed her and they drugged her and then finally killed her. A very harsh ending indeed.
