The Killer (2023)
Netflix did it again
Only Netflix can get a Top Rated Director to do a Mediocre movie. Their process of commissioning a film or series is nothing but "Whatever we can get from an established name..."
The starts off with a good build up to a fantastic thriller and falls flat from the moment the job is screwed up, the movie's intrest level starts to fall off from there and the graph doesn't pick up at all.
What leads up to the next chapter (level) is very mediocre and the next chapter takes it as a challenge to be more insipid than the previous one.
Funny enough the narrative style that what made Fight Club SO GOOD is the big let down here.
Code 8 (2019)
Why carry the two small suit cases by road on an escorted truck while drones carrying larger bots ?!
The overall idea of mutants with powers are interesting but the plot is wafer thin and the logic has wormhole sized goofy ideas which makes us lose interest easily.
The climax is about the two suit cases to be to be robbed and the dumb authorities instead of taking it through air/ drones rely on delivery trucks with man power and additional bots to escort them. The drones assist the trucks by giving Ariel surveillance instead they could have transported them through drones itself to save us from the headache without wasting any time of theirs and ours.
Waste of time and effort on a goofy plot.
Inside Man (2022)
-100 is the rating this one deserves
I initially gave a rating of 3 after the first episode and the reduced to 2 after midway through the second and again reduced it to one by 1 by the time I was in the third episode. But after the third this one deserves something like a minus 100 for the pathetic way it's written and there's no way a show like this should waste talents like Tucci and Tennant. Some of the sequence are outrageously bad and the story arc is inclined towards how worse can it get by the time the final episode goes. The only saving grace is that this vile piece of excuse for a content is that it's limited to just four episodes. I only watched it for Tennant and Tucci to realise how sorry I was them!
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022)
The Script Written on a Napkin!?
This pathetic excuse of a murder mystery is no way should be called a sequel to the masterpiece original (Knives Out)
The story is wafer thin and anyone who's an avid fan of murder mysteries can easily predict the whodunnit part easily. It's not even hidden in the layers, but let out in the plain sight on a Napkin!
As far as the basic problem that let's the primary victim killed is just plain and stupid... Just why would anyone secretly mail the evidence to the same people who have testified against you in the court?! The logical loopholes puts the Hole in the little napkin the script is written on which leaves a very little space to write...
Just an outright disappointment!
Vadhandhi: The Fable of Velonie (2022)
Poor writing and fake narrative to deliberately divert the audience
The creators have unnecessarily dragged it to make a small story to be streched into an 8 episode long webseries which is way too dragging. The unnecessary waste of resources has lead to a chaotic narrative style which ends up as a 7 hour long dud.
Instead of finding the church holiday after two years the police could have found that easily on the initial investigation itself within the first few days of the crime. They tried to project the hero as a stubborn cop trying to close the case at any cost even after two years but only to expose the incompetence of the character (which obviously is the incompetence in writing).
The fake reviews and ratings alone can't make this a good content but a proper scouting for good script would have given them a winner.
The visuals and serenity of the filming locations keeps us going for a while but that too a decoy to divert the audience from bore.
Waste of time, opportunity and resources.
Bullet Train (2022)
This is how Good actors fade out of their prime!
From the beginning to end, not even one thing is interesting about this movie. The story was heading in the wrong direction right from the beginning just like the train to nowhere. The over the top action and acting kills the little interest popping up here and there. The writer came up with the mother of the dumbest logics in the history of cinema.
You tend to think that the story will catch up to speed at some point but only to realise that there's no story boarded on to this train but departed in the opposite direction.
Wonder what made the actors agreeing to do this film and what convinced the executives of the stiudio to green light this pile of trash instead of a script.
Don't waste your time on this wreck of excuse for a movie.
Kadaseela Biriyani (2021)
Pretends to be something it's not!
A wannabe Guy Ritchie film tries hards to be positioned (or get mentioned) in that league falls and dies like just Periya Pandi and Ila Pandi.
We just watch it like the clueless Chikku Pandi while our precious time being burnt down like Andrew as we just have to watch it till the end of the pathetic ending... Just to end.
Kalifat (2020)
How can something be So Brilliant and So Dumb at the same time?!
The Show was Great until the eighth episode, then it fell apart in the last episode.
**Spoilers Ahead**
The intensity built towards the climax was killed by a lazy final episode. The logic and reasoning for each character to display such traits was convincing till then, fell apart in the climax. Why would the lead character decide to go personally to a rescue where her delay costed the life of another when she could have been saved by that time wasted. Each and every other characters fell for the same fate.
Overtake (2017)
Poor Rip off of Duel
Why cheat with the tag of inspired from real life, say it as a rip off of Spielberg's Duel! Waste of time and Money
Goliath (2016)
Season 1: 10/10 Season 2: 3/10 Season 3: 1/10
From Great to Drab in just two seasons! What happened to the writers and Makers! Or the is it LSD effect has gotten on it so much..?
Down right this the best example of How not to write a show!
Fractured (2019)
The Story had everything, but the Movie didn't!
The Story had everything in it, I guess perhaps the screenplay made it dull. This movie is a spin-off story of Shutter Island which can be sensed right from the beginning the moment the girl falls. The thing made Shutter Island work was the unexplored territory and a convincing screenplay which this film completely lacked. It is as we are telling don't be that, don't be that, then finally it ends up exactly there...
Story writing and film making are two different languages. Another potential plot lost in translation.
It almost made it, almost!!
El silencio del pantano (2019)
What happened to the footage?!
The movie is an open ended film. But that doesn't mean you have to cut it abruptly. All the potential lost to add some pseudo artistic value, it tries to bring in. Misused talent and lost ideas mixed up with some good production values.
But why?!
Extraction (2020)
Not Bad Not Good
This is something like capture of a video game where no logic applies, no solid plot, not much of details, not enough motive for any character except for the lead Chris.
Just Blind Action with extra gore and blood bath. Cliche of a climax. Nothing new overall. You won't miss anything if you take breaks in between the film. Even lengthy breaks. The backstory isn't convincing enough, the supporting characters have no scope, they just fall like Dominos with no value other than just being part of it
You wouldn't regret watching it, nothing to say it's a must watch either.
(The comparison of this with Taken, Man on Fire, John Wick are pure exaggeration, don't fall for it)
Panchayat (2020)
An Overrated (Perhaps self-rated) Show
When the promos where on, I was expecting comic riot. But the story as it unfolded, it was more like village drama, anything but hilarious. Lethargic writing, neither close reality nor close to an interesting fiction.
The performances are decent but wasted by poor storyline. The Backdrop had better potential than any other to give best fun outing of a village, but completely missed.
A lost opportunity.
There's a Tamil Movie called "Mundasuppatti" on Hotstar. That's perhaps shown the best fun about a village.
