Don't Breathe (2016)

A movie you may not remember later...But is a gem in the moment.
30 August 2016
I went to a screening of this film last night, not expecting anything or having any prior knowledge about the film. I have to say, the overall experience was an enjoyable one, albeit, not one I would remember through the ages. In fact, the moment the film ended and the more I thought over it, the less likable it seemed to get. At first, I blamed it on the insanely high standard Hollywood has set for movies and TV in this day and age that it seemed to have stolen away the light this movie deserves. But then I realized something that would be a lot helpful for those wanting to see this movie: Do not take this movie too seriously. This home invasion genre film serves as a well shot, neatly written and decently acted addition to a lineup of predictable, boring movies. Don't Breathe manages to satisfy moviegoers by avoiding genre- traps that would've ultimately changed the entire narrative of this review, and for that it gets special recognition! Got some time on your hand? Give this movie a watch.

A Brilliant Ending To A Brilliant Tale
17 July 2011
Warning: Spoilers
It was the movie that had created all the hype this summer. Belonging to a series which redefined a decade, Harry Potter had changed the lives of millions and I feel proud to be one of them. Having read each book multiple times, I had considered the movies a disgrace to the series, but recently, my opinion has been changing. After watching the premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 at Trafalgar Square, I had more than high expectations from this last movie, the movie which would ultimately draw the curtains to the most beautiful world that had ever been created. So, did it live up to the expectations? Lets find out.

The movie kicks off very quickly from where HP 7 part 1 had left off so it gives a nice feeling of continuation. However, even from the beginning, you can feel the tension of the situation. Snape is shown as the headmaster of Hogwarts and things have gone from bad to worse. The effects are stunning throughout the movie and you find yourself biting your nails and clenching the arms of those around you when Harry, Ron and Hermione break into Gringotts and make their get-away on a dragon. The whole movie is pure action and the Battle of Hogwarts has been shown as intensely as it has been portrayed in the Book. Every character has their moment and anyone can connect with them. Even Radcliffe, who I always thought gave a mediocre performance, did superb! Snape had his moment, although very briefly(and that is the only thing I complain about) but it is enough to make its point. The end of Voldemort, happened too slowly and they removed the parts when Voldemort is actually intimidated by harry(but oh well, you cant get all that you wish for, right?). The 19 years later part was emotional, and very saddening as it brought back the harsh reality that there would be no more Harry Potter after this.

I would never complain about how the movie did not have enough 'details' because that it just something impossible to do without exceeding the runtime and also losing many audience who haven't read the book. By far, this is the greatest movie based on the Harry Potter series and after seeing this, one feels proud to have stuck with Harry Potter till the end. It is strongly recommended that you watch this movie in 3D. Watch it over and over again. It deserves nothing less.

A clichéd amusement
9 June 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I went a little late to see this movie. I admit I was a little skeptical at first to go watch an animated movie as 90 minutes mean a lot to me. Though my love for the cute Panda took the better of me and I went to see it.

The movie was full of laughs. It was light; it had me on the edge of the seat during all the action, and the graphics were simply beautiful. But though this movie flowed through perfectly without giving me a second to feel bored, the clichéd story made it almost easy for me to predict that everything would get right in the end... and so it does!

As I watched Po battle Shen(the peacock), I went like, 'Oh we know in the end Po would be this big hero!'Those around me did not like me being a spoiler but fact is fact. Po is the hero in the end and then we go on to the end of a happy ending, with a room for a sequel left behind as well(Surely wouldn't miss that!)

So over-all, it was a good movie, with nice and funny lines and cute animations. The action is intense and the movie is good if you don't like to boggle your mind over the story much. Wouldn't recommend it for those who are mature and think this movie would be different than the other kids movies. But if your a teenager, go ahead and enjoy the movie and the elder sisters of the kids who come to see this title(!). It is definitely worth a watch.
