Paan Singh Tomar (2012)
Must Watch
Irrfan's performance and the gripping storyline makes the movie a must watch. Despite being a biopic, the story has good pace. The remarkable ease with which Irrfan executes such roles is truly remarkable. He leaves his impression on you for days after you watch the movie. Mahie is good too as one of the lead character. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Brajendra Kala have also performed well. Hats off to Tigmanshu Dhulia for remaking a good movie after Haasil. The combination of Tigmanshu and Irrfan has created magic again. Such movies usually have a disappointing climax but this movie does well there too. Watch it once and you will watch it again.
Prahaar: The Final Attack (1991)
The most inspiring movie ever seen!!
This movie is about an army major who fights with the system which is corrupt & full of people who watch the oppression by goons, politicians and silently suffer it. Very normal for everyone of us. An absolute truth has been reflected about the Indian society & its way of accepting things as it is but cometh one man who does not believe in accepting things as it is. There have been many masala movies in Bollywood where the protagonist takes up the same challenge but this movie does away with all the unnecessary masala. The story line is very simple & touching. Major Chauhan's character is an outcome of his childhood, his scope of interaction with the society is very limited but his determination to clear the society of evils is impacting. His cadet's death creates an impact on him and the same impact happens on everyone of us when a close one dies. The best thing about this movie is its closeness to reality. Real life commando training, real life situations and a different response to them. What this movie will teach you is that don't accept things as it is. Learn to change them. The ending of the movie is its best part. Major Chauhan says "Chiku, jis din tumhare jaise mere bahut saare dost ho jaayenge, us din main azad ho jaunga". Clearly he gives the message that things will change when people start reflecting to his thought process.
Vaastu Shastra (2004)
One of the best horror movies in India!!
RGV continues with his ability to surprise the audience in this movie - sometimes a positive and sometimes a negative surprise. I found this movie positively surprising. A masterpiece in the genre of horror movies in India the movie carries on the legacy created by Bhoot and grips you slowly with fear. The eeriness quotient rises as the movie progresses and its not about the ghosts with funny caricature like faces but about something which you can feel. I would rate this in the league of Raat by Revathi. RGV has the ability to create an eerie atmosphere without usage of much of dialogues between the characters. The tempo of the movie is a bit slow initially but really speeds up in the end. The climax is apt for the theme.
