Chef Wanted with Anne Burrell (2012)
Too much shouting. Not enough...anything else.
Back when this show was in its first season, I actually liked it. It seemed very different from other cooking competition shows. Anne seemed to actually want to help the chefs who were trying to get the positions at these restaurants. This season, though, there seems to be just way too much noise. Anne screaming at the chefs, the managers yelling at the chefs, the chefs shouting at the rest of the kitchen...not to mention the occasional scream of frustration from the chefs (one of them even to the point of throwing things onto the floor). Not even Gordon Ramsey and Robert Irvine yell at people this much. If this is what it's like to work in a professional restaurant kitchen, I can safely say that this show has turned me away from ever considering that as a career.
Newsies (1992)
Definitely my favorite movie
The title says it all, right? Newsies is and has been my favorite movie for several years now. The music is great, the choreography is very good, and everyone does their own singing! That's the best thing about it, I think- What you hear on there is everyone's real singing voices. If you like musicals, you'll probably like Newsies. If you like things that are based on actual events, you'll probably like Newsies. It's about a real-life newspaper strike that happened in 1899 in New York, a story that (from what I know) got very little recognition. Of course, they were able to be creative with it because it's a movie-musical, but don't shoot it down because of that. Watch it before you say it's bad.
