Independence Day (1996)
Quite possibly the worst blockbuster since the dawn of human life
This is rubbish. Don't get me wrong - I am not underrating this film. It is absolute rubbish.
There is one little thing that make this worth watching (with the speakers on "mute", mind you) - the special effects. Those are good. But that's style. All major film companies can make that work. It's the content that is rubbish.
Me and my father had a good laugh watching some thirty minutes of the end and I got reminded of how horrible it was. Why would people want to watch this? Why? I seem to remember a time in the history of Hollywood when this film would have been laughed at and someone made an Apocalypse Now instead, putting things into a greater perspective.
And no. I do enjoy blockbusters just as much as the next fellow, but please... If you are to make a blockbuster - make something that does not seem like a Pentagon wish list. Do your own thinking.
And no. I do enjoy American movies. Most movies I watch are American - and most of my favourites are American (both Hollywood and Indie). I just don't like propaganda from any nation.
Beck: Skarpt läge (2006)
A light of hope for Swedish cinema
Having become much of an institution in Sweden, Sjöwall/Wahlöö's characters Martin Beck and Gunvald Larsson has seen a lot in their days on the silver screen since Mannen på Taket came sometime during the stone age. Especially the latest incarnation (for yes, just like James Bond, Martin Beck has been portrayed by several actors, as have Gunvald) have seen many ups and downs.
But entering the third and last season of Beck movies for the duo Haber/Persbrandt with Skarpt Läge has put the bar up high.
This is not a common Swedish movie. The dullness of the "diskbänskrealism" is gone, yet we never leave the frightening proximity of home as the plot evolves around spousal abuse.
Skarpt Läge delivers an experience of utter and sheer horror as well as action rarely seen in this cold country's cinemas. A joy, but it has its price - a look into the terrifying world of the victims suffering from a husband beating them gives repulsion a meaning. Uncomfortable, yet the film is captivating and even fun at times.
If you are to see a contemporary Swedish movie - skip the boring dramas and see this. Had the international audience seen Sweden as a film industry, this would be praised abroad. A shame it isn't, but a terrific film, none the less.
I, Robot (2004)
A sci-fi, with an unusual twist...
This is one of the greatest flicks in Sci-fi since Star Wars. Why? Hard to know, but the fact that the special-FX weren't the whole movie is a big point, and still they managed to make it look very real, something the Bond producers should look for in future films.
I think it's more than fair that I start with what I think is the only problem with the story. Same ol' 'save the world, be home for Oprah' attitude, and that can make it a bit boring, if it isn't as well-written as this one was, without doubt.
And what surprised me, and the fact that it did surprise me was a surprise itself, was how great Will Smith still is! Since I saw Fresh Prince the first time, I was hit by how good he is in bringing seriousness to comedy. There aren't many who knows how to do that, and I'm sure that has something to do with his popularity. Others who posses that quality is, for instance, Matthew Perry, Eddie Murphy and Bruce Willis.
Halfway into a movie is where the rest is decided. Everything but make it look dorky is good! I was anxious, but it worked out and the climax made a great note in the movie history.
Go see this one, folks, that's all I can say.
Bowfinger (1999)
The absolutely funniest film I've seen since, well a very long time...
It's hilarious! One of those gotta see movies! I was rolling around on the floor laughing like all the time! Not as single downside! These kinds of movies are rare, but, wow! I'm speechless!
P.S. A couple of tips for those who also liked this:
License To Drive (Click on Heather Grahams' name and it'll be in the bio.
Beverly Hills Cop (Well... Click on Eddie Murphys name, if you haven't already heard about it...)

Skenbart: En film om tåg (2003)
Disgusting!
Don't see this movie! It's... repulsive! The start is indeed very good, but in the middle everything falls and I really regret spending 80 crowns (about 11 dollars) on the ticket! Peter Dalle should consider this as his last chance to gain peoples interest. AWFUL picture! The only bright spot is the splendid work of Robert Gustavsson, Lena Nyman and Gösta Ekman.
Hope you take my advise... The picture is rubbish.
007: Nightfire (2002)
Best BondGame
This is like the best Bondgame I've tried. But I got pretty disappointed by Bonds voice, it's not Brosnan! The graphics are good, but slow on my computer since I only got possibillity to play it there 'cause I haven't got any consol accept for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
Friends (1994)
As good as it gets, speaking of sitcoms...
Friends is the best of all the sitcoms. Here in Sweden we're now watching season eight, and it gets better and better and better. I'm really sorry that this series aren't supposed to be longer than 10 seasons...
I think the best joke in the whole series is this:
Monica: "I think we should have a halloween party!" Joey: "Na, it's kinda' silly dress up and pretend you're someone else!" Chandler: "Joey... You're an actor!!!"
