A interesting film of 1974
28 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This film takes place in the mid to late 50s and it's about the numbers game. And of course the Italians want to take over the poor neighbourhoods of the ghettos. The Godfather of the ghettoes does not agree with us and wants to keep his numbers rackets going even though he has offered a piece of the hard drug action from the Italian godfathers.

I find this film an interesting quick watch with some really interesting songs in it. Good acting, and you know your basic Grindhouse feature of the time.

If you like" Blaxploitation" it is a definite must watch. You can find it for free on Tubi.

Please enjoy it.

Mermaid Isle (2020)

Not so great
17 May 2023
If this is a student film I would say they gave it a really good try. I have seen much worse movies that are way more expensive. Their is some decent photography and some really good SPF/X especially the mermaid outfit.

If they edited it down to a shorter film it would be more enjoyable I think.

It looks like it was filmed in Canada for some reason probably because of the backdrop.

The sound effects don't match up very well, and the music goes on way to long at points too.

Obviously the producers did put a lot of time into making this film so I say give the kids a break.

So give the kids a break.

Yes definitely this should win the award for the film with absolutely no continuity whatsoever.

A higher budget film school film
13 December 2019
The premise tries too hard to be very philosophical and it gets lost in itself which may be disappointed the film to begin with. The main actor is quite good but he even seems somewhat confused by what the logic of the film is to be. It just reminds me of a much higher budget film school film that is very beautifully shot and if you have the patience is very nice to watch. But I don't think the director writer producers were even sure of what they were trying to make.

A Morass (2011)

Great New Noir Film
14 February 2013
I was lucky to catch a special viewing of "A MORASS" Recently that included some of the cast and crew in attendance. The film was made In five days for some kind of competition And I know that it was also made for a little to no money. I find it easy to pick any movie apart no matter what it budget so I choose to be fair. First off I found the story interesting and refreshing. Vincent Van Ommen Did a good great job playing the leading man. He has the right looks and talent I'm sure we will be seeing him in many more productions in the future . The whole cast worked together near perfectly, as well as a Appearance by the Writer Directer near the end.I don't want to give the story away (so I won't )you should see it to enjoy it. The Style of the film was definitely that of the "Film Noir" style, well done with great looking locations & production value.

I will say the only downside's was occasionally it was a bit dark on the faces and they could of used a bit more coverage. I have worked on many films none that were filmed in 5 days, I think the crew did a fantastic job and should be proud of the fine product they have made. I can't wait to see it released. I hear their might be a Commentary track as well when it Reaches DVD release.
