Chocolate: Deep Dark Secrets (2005)
Oh, for the love of God...
Seriously, after seeing this film, I am considering just leaving Bollywood in the dust. I'm so sick of films like this. This is not a remake of The Usual Suspects; it's a total flippin' rip-off. The director had nothing new to offer to the topic and just basically re-shot the movie in Hindi, in London and made it really bad. Everything is word-for-word of the original. What makes it worse is that they threw a girl in just to prance her around half-naked most of the time. I hope Bryan Singer sues all of the bastards involved in making this film and I hope all of those people come to their senses and never work in film again.
Held Hostage in Colombia (2003)
Interesting and extremely informative
"Held Hostage in Columbia" is a short documentary film that features interviews with 3 Americans being held hostage by the FARC, a Columbia terrorist organization.
Even though I tend to get bored in interview-style documentaries, this film was certainly the exception. Having never been exposed to this side of a hostage crisis, I was intrigued by the day-to-day life of the 3 hostages. The film also sheds light on some misconceptions about how the American government handles hostage crises.
Having followed hostage situations closely on the news before, I watched the intensity of how the government handled them; it seemed the hostages would be home very, very soon, within days. But, to watch this film, and see hostages who have been there for months, even years, is shocking.
An informative film; get a chance to see it if you can.

Van Helsing (2004)
So wishy-washy....
From the previews, I expected this to be a "serious" monster movie, about a man who is called on by God to fight the forces of evil. But, it was clear that after the first 10-15 minutes, that the movie was absolute camp.
I was wrong though, but I wouldn't ask the filmmakers to classify this movie. It's obvious that they didn't know what the movie was either, because at some points it's camp, trying-to-be-camp, kitschy monster movie, serious romantic drama and a few others. It gets very annoying.
And the only character I found to be likable, was Carl (David Wenham). He's the typical sidekick character whose job is to help the hero. Oh, and he talks funny.
All-in-all, I was disappointed. *C-*
