The Mist (2017)
1/10
No integrity, tons of plot holes and all over the place
3 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I really looked forward for this show, as I loved the movie and Netflix has released many great TV shows as of late.

But man, was I in for a mindf*k, and not the good kind.

The pilot was alright, imho, but it went downhill from there. Almost nothing is explained, and almost nothing is logical towards progression and human behaviour.

Its all over the place with subjects of today, tweens, rape, sexual orientation, prostitution, murder, and everything centered around a hormonal gay/not gay petite boy who's supposed to be a psychotic mastermind. Which in no way shape or form is believable for a second.

I should have stopped after the pilot, but what kept me going was the cute girls and the hope of actually learning more about the Mist. But it seems like this Mist was different from the movie one, which kinda helps in conclusion. You do not want to associate this with the original movie, because it will ruin the essence of what Stephen King had in mind with this story.

Oh, and when the unstable kid of the group says that the leader is dead, without explanation, as adults you should f**ng check before leaving. How utterly retarded is it possible to be. Gods..

Great show, but!

Warning: Spoilers
I loved this show, but I have 1 major complaint regarding the episode called "What Lies Beneath". (Season 2 Episode 16)

!! Spoiler Alert!!

When they discovered Thomas Jefferson's underground library/dome with his "Spiritual Hologram", they decide they have to blow everything up to save the 2 surveyers. My question is, WHY?

They managed to save the surveyers without damaging the magical battery, but they still decided to blow it up.. They had already been down there 2 times and survived, killing roughly 15 Reavers.. And he goes down again to blow everything up, even though he is safe inside Jefferson's Dome.

Later Ichabod says "if only I could have taken with me some of the books"... I shouted out when they blew it up, I cursed and I got very upset.. It was so sincerely pointless.. Imagine all the knowledge they could have learned, all the spells and other benefits to save the world.

I think in this specific case, 1000 books is more worth than 1 life. But it didn't even have to come to that.

Possible outcomes that would have worked:

1) Ichabod could easily have taken with him the chest containing the important scrolls regarding the witnesses, or at least some important books on his way out and still exploded the dome like they said.

2) They could have avoided exploding the dome. Seeing as they being only 2 managed to get into the dome and survive, and even Ichabod alone managed this, they could have come back later and saved everything in the library.

3) They could have brought reinforcements, got help from 2-3 friends, and had even more protection whilst getting the books.

This is just poor directing if you ask me, it almost seems like the episodes original idea was longer, but they had to shorten it down in a hurry.

Imagine the treasures in that library. This is the worst episode of the entire series in my honest opinion.

American Pie meets Butterfly effect

I love movies that try out something new, and especially mixed with such a controversial genre. The trailer didn't give me too high hopes, but after just 5 minutes into the movie I was hooked.

The camera-work was great and you really got the feel for the atmosphere at the party. Even the music and attitude of the students at the party was actually relate-able to modern day and age. Unlike so many other movies similar to this. I felt like I wanted to be at that party, it wasn't fake nor forced in any way. Very good natural acting by many of the actors.

If you like unique sci-fi mixed with ordinary well played drama, and with an edge to it all, then this is the movie for you.

Oh, and it got tons of hot naked girls and tits, without being nasty about it.
