Been on TV (29-04-2007)
30 April 2007
It's been on TV (29-04-2007)

Why does it still say the programme is in post-production when it was on UK TV (BBC Four I think) a few days ago?

I'll say no more as I missed it and am awaiting it to be repeated as it will surely be over the next few weeks as they do that on the digital channels these days here in the UK.

"Polar exploration is at once the cleanest and most isolated way of having a bad time which has been devised. It is the only form of adventure in which you put on your clothes at Michaelmas and keep them on until Christmas, and, save for a layer of the natural grease of the body, find them as clean as though they were new. It is more lonely than London, more secluded than any monastery, and the post comes but once a year. As men will compare the hardships of France, Palestine, or Mesopotamia, so it would be interesting to contrast the rival claims of the Antarctic as a medium of discomfort. A member of Campbell's party tells me that the trenches at Ypres were a comparative picnic. But until somebody can evolve a standard of endurance I am unable to see how it can be done. Take it all in all, I do not believe anybody on earth has a worse time than an Emperor penguin."

Series 5 nearly over in UK
4 March 2005
Warning: Spoilers
SPOILERS ARE MINIMAL AND VAGUE

Yes, here in the UK series 5 is nearly finished its run, (March 2005), but don't worry (should you be a fan) as there are 14 episodes in this series as apposed to the maximum of 10 in series 3.

Although not to everyones taste, 2 Pints is popular with many who can maybe see a parallel with their life currently or from their past (like mine). It is now repeated on BBC3, three times after the original showing each Sunday evening, so it is difficult to miss an episode.

As for negative comments about the series in general, I would point to the fact that it is written by a young person with a unique view of life and how its reflected on TV in light entertainment comedy. People of the age the characters do behave like real people and although it may seem childish to an older generation brought up on 'Till Death Us Do Part', or 'Steptoe and Son' - both 1960's / 1970's (and both which I like), but times have changed and so have people's outlook, experience and expectation of what they what TV to reflect their life / situations.

So, if you're a fan, then rest assured, not a lot has changed in the series on the comedy level (thankfully), but we have lost and gained characters. The main loss far outweighing the temp gains.

Who fancies going for a pint or two?

Between the Sheets (2003– )
Another excellent performance by Julie Graham
19 December 2003
Julie's convincing character acting and on screen presence is enough to make me tune in for each episode, but the fact that we are occasionally treated to quick snaps of her gorgeous voluptuous naked body is a bonus for me. A Perfect 10.

A classic love story / spoof type thing with a bit of controlled slapstick
1 December 2002
I recorded this while out (not really expecting to get around to watching it). I vaguely remembered it having funny scenes when I originally saw the trailers for it at the cinema so though it was worth a look and was very happy to have recorded it.

I wasn't embarrased at the love story element (as I usually am) as it wasn't the gooey type of Hollywood bilge of kissing in the park or under the stars. What's more there was no tragedy to it either (think girl in hospital with cancer and chiselled-faced hero by her side wrestling with his conscience).

Also there is a great balance of love / comedy and slight bizarre elements to keep it afloat when the editing is awry.

I don't think I've seen a love story that's dealt with mental illness, masturbation, hair gel and setting fire to dogs so well for a long time.

There's also the bonus of the gorgeous Ms Diaz in her underwear. Very tastefully done, (even if I did have way too much hair gel to deal with the following week).

And hey, Lee Evans didn't attempt to mimic Jerry Lee Lewis once! Keep it up mate.
