I Care a Lot (2020)
Great ride of a movie
23 February 2021
Do not listen to the 1 star reviews. They seem coordinated with an agenda. This movie is great, with several twists and a very satisfying ending.

Vanguard (2020)
When you got the money but not the talent
20 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This is what a true 1 star movie looks like. Highlights include: Captain China, a giant DJI drone, horrible acting and a terrible script. If you are with friends and want to have a laugh, watch it.

Great story filmed on location in Europe
20 May 2020
Many don't seem to be able to put the pieces together, however I suspect the very same people couldn't find the location countries on the map either. The strength of this movie is that it was filmed on location without a lot of special effects, had great coloring, suspense throughout, and a great sense of realism.

Contagion (2011)
What happens when a novel virus goes pandemic?
8 March 2020
This by far is the most accurate movie depiction of what may happen during an outbreak we are experiencing right now in 2020.

From the laboratory protocols, the human reactions of people and governments, down to the smallest of details - such as the license plates of the bus going from HK to Guangdong - everything is in place and is accurate.

Most strikingly however, the origin and initial spread of the disease, as well as the potential treatments experimented with (including ribavirin) bear a striking resemblance to the current situation.

This level or research and attention to detail in Hollywood is almost unprecedented. All world leaders should see this film.

Traffik (2018)
Garbage full of clichés
8 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Another garbage production made with an agenda in mind. Skipping over the racial elements, in this movie the agenda was this magical idea of human trafficking that is done with trucks by evil bikers.

In the end they try to sell you the idea that 1.9 million "women are being trafficked" in the US alone. Only thing is, the law has a much broader definition of trafficking, and any such number would involve teenage runaways/lovebirds, among others. This film should be classed as fiktion.

+1: Anyone who had seen a few Hollywood films would not have been surprised by the "plot twist" either. I knew it the moment I saw her.

On the technical side of things, there were a few good elements: some random traffic (no pun intended) on the road, and better than average lighting.

Dark Crimes (2016)
It's only boring to Americans. For Europeans a must see
12 May 2018
One of the few films with American ties that depicts Europe the way it is. Watch it, don't be fooled by those claiming it is boring. In fact, it is quite the opposite.

Well made, unique documentary
12 November 2016
The scenes are real and may be shocking to some indeed, even after 20 years. The nightlife, and especially the sex-scene of Japan is explored with nothing censored. There are some scenes from other countries as well, namely Thailand, and I believe Myanmar.

Prostitute-client encounters are shown several times, and so are some rare fetishes.

Unlike other 'shock films', such those from Italy ( Cannibal Holocaust), this one was entirely shot on real subjects and not actors. This is what gives it unique value.

It is a hard-to-find piece, but if you can get your hands on a copy, do it. You won't regret it

Badly done and inaccurate
10 October 2016
5 stars only because of the first 5 or 10 minutes, which were well done. Anything after that, with the exception of the final moments is absolute and total nonsense. It is said in the end that the film is based on real events, and true enough, the very basics of the story are correct. That is that 13 Chinese sailors were murdered, and drugs found on them. Who murdered them remains a mystery, but there is a good chance it wasn't the men executed for it. The movie purports to tell the official version agreed upon by the Chinese and Thai governments, but it fails at it too. The action scenes are unreal, like the ones you would expect from a grade B American action film. The green screen in some places was more than obvious thanks to bad lighting. What was supposed to be a jungle in some places is clearly an artificial forest. The men who are supposed to be speaking Shan are speaking Thai. There's also the issue with some of the characters that are very out of place (their ethnicities wouldn't per it them to become drug lords)

Finally, the antagonists are all depicted as crazed men who train kids high on drugs to be soldiers. Without any spoilers: absolutely unreal. The real life drug lords of the Golden Triangle supported their communities to gain their trust and help when needed. They build schools and clinics and were called fathers. This film is bad, twists a real story unil it's unrecognizable, and is just badly done!

"Mah freedum" - this sums it up best
25 October 2015
What you are looking at is your typical American propaganda. Only the so called American way of life can be fair to society and bring freedom to the people. Americans are righteous and good, the others not so much - Although obviously they have placed a few token characters on every side to make this less in your face.

This series has an agenda, which is not even hidden. It is to reinforce the victor's voice that tells you how evil the Nazis and the Japanese were.

This aside, there are also some special effect issues in the second episode. If you have seen it, you may have noticed this towards the end

Interstellar (2014)
Another moneymaker
10 November 2014
The first few minutes were good and promising. However soon unreasonable stupidity took over and the whole thing was swallowed up into just another blockbuster cliché, even if in an unusual packaging.

Let's compare it to Transcendence. Despite its few flaws, Transcendence depicted a very realistic scenario from beginning to end. It was reasonable with its depiction of humans too and remained so throughout.

Not so this one. It was made for the masses and the whole premise is stupid.

The scary thing is that this salivating 'blockbuster' is cheered with a 9 rating while Transcendence is written off as something unreal.

Transcendence (I) (2014)
A rational plot that is very realistic
26 April 2014
No irony in the above. The irrational and immensely stupid human reactions are more than realistic, and paint a bleak future while also explaining why we are stuck here today. People are scared of human evolution and advancement, and do their utmost to prevent them from happening. Think of religion or populistic yet unreasonable laws that are based on religion or similarly unfounded assumptions.

This film is great, the possibilities outlined are very real, and those hurring it down have absolutely no knowledge of science and have no imagination as to what the future may realistically hold.

I would expect that Transcendence will do better in countries where there is more critical thinking, such as Japan or most of Europe.
